Great video! Very detailed and easy to follow. I did a personal adaptation, wich was I only use 1 stopper knot on the slide end, but it's just that personal preference! Thank you!
I hope that the lanyard serves you well.
2:33 Thanks, just bought a knife and didn't know anything about lanyards. This is perfect keeps me from losing my knife. This looks like something I would see in a military video.
Most knife lanyards seem to be decorative? I cant understand that. This is very practical, great video 😊
Enjoy!
A couple of years ago, I started using your method of prepping a lanyard and I continue to use your method in 2024.
That's awesome! 👍🏼👍🏼
Kudos for a very useful, and well explained video .
Well it ain’t pretty BUT it is beautifully functional and very well thought out. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad that you liked it. Enjoy!
Excellent video. This deserves a lot more views. Trying (and tying) it this weekend!
Very impressive video! Would you have any objections to me re-posting it on my channel, giving you full credit?
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for asking permission. I don't mind, as long as credit is acknowledged.
Nice method, never seen it before - thanks for showing. When you melt the ends and want to roll them between your fingers to make them look nice and smooth, but don't want to burn yourself, just put your fingers in a small bowl of cold water for ten or twenty seconds. I use a tealight for melting the ends, so one hand is free to cool in water - never got a burn again after developing this method.
Thanks for sharing!
LMFAO!!!! 😆
What knife model is that?
It's a Becker BK9.
3:10 -> 🤙🏽😄
I love this! Thank you. I'm left handed so it took me a couple of tries to get it right, but I did and think this is a great/safe lanyard for a knife.
Thanks for the compliment!
I'm a lefty also, it wasn't too hard .
great job! and lanyard!
Thanks for an informative video, well done. Just purchased an 18 inch machete and it feels much more secure in my hand with your cleverly designed lanyard. Greatly appreciated!
Just finished the task and it's Great! Thank You!! I followed your exact instructions (except I used figure 8 knots as the stoppers) and the blade is far more secure than the thumb wrap. I am sure there will be more power for chopping. Starting on my second blade.
I've been using the thumb wrap deal and I have nothing but praise for it. I will certainly give your method a go. Thank you for your video and assistance.
I have the tent Atacama from Redverz. The quality is poor. Customer service is a disaster. Very annoying.
use a zap strap. 😅
Thanks. I see so many videos that show decrative 550 cord as a macrame project. Finally a useful and logical instrction vid. Thank you again.
Thanks for doing this. Big help
BEST yet -- thanks
I thought of get this but it wasn't as compact as i liked
It's definitely not a small tent.
@@BJWallen I went with the Abel Brown Nomad.
thank you sir, your instruction made it easy to follow along
thanks Mate , you made my decision so much more easier !! , thet will be on my new F850GS ADVENTURE , !!!
Looks like you're ready for a good night with your bike make sure you use protection😉😉
Is install easy, or need professional install? I know the answer depends, but is this a plug in scenario or does it require splicing oem lighting wires etc.
Easy. It comes with connectors.
@@BJWallen thx
Thanks, this video helped a lot
What are your thoughts on the tent now having owned it for a few years?
I've camped hundreds of times in this tent. It's kept me out of the rain while making repairs several times. I would buy it again.
R1200RT?
Yep. Best bike I've ever owned.
How much do they go for please comment back
Use the internet dork
You have only Darla installed?
Yes.
BJ Wallen it gives a lot of light...guess I will go for the same
@@BJWallen its really bright i guess..
Thank you for the post. I just purchased the Clearwater Darla D2s which have 2000 lumens. I am having them installed by the dealer. How bright are the lights in your video? Thank you
They are 2000 lumens.
What bike did you Kevin sheehan put the Darlas on? I just bought Darlas and next week the dealer will install. I'm riding a victory vision. Are you happy with the lights?
We need this in India badly
are these darla lights plug and play with the bikes stock harness?
No..unfortunately they are not.
I'd be better informed if you first showed just the stock lighting low & high beams and mentioned what you're riding, before you start bringing the Darlas into it and not knowing yourself what power setting they are at.
Charliebrm1 At 1:30, I start the bike. Stock headlights are the only lights that shine until 1:38. Then, the Darlas come on. Thanks for watching!
😭
So where do you pack it on the bike?
Watch this video - th-cam.com/video/IuA4nJQ3pZA/w-d-xo.html
i have a water-cooled GS with a wonder wheel. with a "Clearwater CanOpener", i programmed the lights to 50% low beam during the day, 40% low beam during the night, 100% on high beam day or night. i can put all settings to "10" with quick program switching. the night settings work with the photo cell sensor switching.
Is this light always on ? Can't be turn off ?
Albert Pratama They are always on.
Stupid tent IMO. More space for your bike than you and the price and weight is nuts. Get a Vango Pulsar 300 and have nearly the same vestibule area, lighter, better material and 3 times the sleeping area for only $200. Set up is identical. It's not quite as tall but the wind won't catch it as much either. If you buy anything that's made "specifically" for riding, expect to pay 200% more for it and it's never 1% better.
You do not stand up in that vango pulsar 300, right?
I checked out the Vango tents based on your reply. Yes, they are cheaper, Yes, they are a little bit lighter, but I want a tent that I can stand up in. As far as the price, a good tent, if you take care of it, will last a quite a while. So, if I pay an extra $250.00 or so for the Redverz that's just two maybe three nights in a hotel (unless you like staying in bedbug ridden locations.) A Redverz will pay for itself in a week of travel then I'll have it for several more years. An extra $250.00 or so....BFD!
Is not that too small? Atacama is too big? I do not know which one to choose ... Thanks.
If you're traveling alone, then the Solo Expedition is what you need. The Atacama is HUGE at 4.9m long, compared to the 3.7m length of the Solo Expedition. The Atacama should only be used if you're traveling with a companion.
Is what I think of the Atacama: huge and family friendly! BUT, will not Solo Tent be a little small? My problem is where I live, I do not have any stores that sell them, do you? Thank you for having responded.
feel hundred times safer riding at night
just installed my Clearwater Darla's there stupid bright
does the tent trap gas fumes inside from the tank vent?
I never once smelled fuel in the garage area. The garage area is not sealed per se and is well vented.
I'm looking into these tents now, pretty cool. Just don't want a storm to make you wake up with your bike on top of you lol, that'd be awkward. Does the tent fit well (compact) on the bike?
I always park the bike with the kickstand on the opposite side of me, so if it falls, it's going the other way. The tent packs up nicely for it's size, in my opinion. Check out this video to see how I pack the tent (and some other things) - th-cam.com/video/IuA4nJQ3pZA/w-d-xo.html
So how is the sleeping area for space?
No need for sleeping space the bike is inside !!! LMAO......
That is going to make an excellent observatory for my telescope. Mike
So if it is raining when you get to camp, you would need to unload onto the wet ground all the contents of your dry bag until you got to the tent on the bottom? It would be more logical to load the tent last so that it can be pitched first then the bag can go into the tent and at least have a small chance of keeping the rest of the contents dry. I assume that your hard trunk is for your clothes and cooking gear? Do you carry a cooler or a water container? Extra fuel containers? Thanks for your video. I am retiring this year and will resume touring after a lapse of about 30 years. My last bike was a 1978 Honda 750F and I road it from Idaho to Montreal and then back to Seattle, Portland back to Idaho and then onto Eastern Nebraska to visit my Granny. This time I am with my two sons and they both have classic Hondas, one a 650CX Custom and a V45 Saber 750. So I am learning what to take little by little. You are a fascinating guy thanks again.
If I used a sock-type dry bag, then I would have to pack the tent in a last-in-first-out fashion. However, I use a duffle-style dry bag so that the items contained therein are on the same plane and readily available, as necessary. All of my camp gear fits into a single dry bag. Anything with an odor including cooking gear, toiletries, food, etc., is segregated into a single, duffle-style dry bag. This is so that I can grab just this bag and place it into a food locker or hang it, when necessary. Odorous items are NEVER intermingled with items in the camp bag. My top case contains riding gear like jacket and pant liners, gloves, microfiber towels for cleaning the windshield or helmet faceshield, etc. I also carry a 4L MSR Dromodary full of extra water in the top case. One saddlebag contains clothes. The other saddlebag contains tools. I use a BMW tank bag where I carry a Camelbak bladder filled with water for drinking on the move. I also store my phone, tablet, and other miscellaneous items here like sunscreen, Tylenol, sunglasses, etc. A company called GiantLoopMoto.com makes fuel bladders. Check out my Camping page - motorcycling.bjwallen.com/musings/camping. Also, check out my blog about my recent trip around the US and Canada - motorcycling.bjwallen.com/trips/2016/four-corners-and-alaska/blog
Thanks for the line on fuel bladders. My son only has a 3 gallon tank, and I would hate to be stranded without fuel in NEV. or someplace else because the only gas station closed. You are the great one.
Got one, great tent pics on my website www.bobmorley.com
