Spunky fish, I love how they jump out of the water! Great video 👏
It can be nerve wracking when they jump, thats when you lose them, but it makes it exciting.
Great review! I have a Primo and have been well pleased.
Thanks, unless they come out with an even better small kayak, a Primo may be in my future
Man I want to come fish up there
It's pretty unreal, an entire river dedicated to shallow power fishing.
I'm not complaining!!! 😂😂😂 great video dude 👏👏👏
Please be more gentle on those beautiful bass on the release! No need to drop them in!😉
I will be making changes to my release, but still working though a lot of footage from earlier this fall
I got the Primo in the spring this year, and I like fishing out of it. It's pretty lightweight, and I've got plenty of room in it.👊👍
That kayak with the upgrade kit would be my next choice.
CK1 and UL breakdowns are spot on. Great reviews 🙌🏼
Thanks, both are really amazing boats. If I can get my hands on a Primo I expect really good things.
Good grief those are massive fish. Are you using the harness magdraft or freestyle?
@@TheCatchPod This was the harness Magdraft, I will probably switch to the Freestyle next year with a Flashy Swimmer. I also tried the Cullshads but found the trail connection a bit weak.
Holy 20’s!!
Since you have both, does the CK1 drag in the shallows way more than the Shoalie? And is the CK1 significantly easier to move around since it is lighter?
The CK1 does drag a little more in very shallow water, mostly on the keel. The weight difference is quite noticeable as I have to ramp the Shoalie onto the top of my car from the back, and the CK1 can be lifted overhead and placed on the racks. The Shoalie is a purpose built system, the CK1 is an all arounder.
Awesome job on the walk through!
Thanks! this was a complete departure from my usual stuff.
Nice walkthrough
@@TheCatchPod Thanks, would have been on the water, but weather is a little messy
Great review of your Crescent boats! It's great to have you share your experience and insight on the designs. Crescent is definitely one of the most innovative brands we have the pleasure to be importing and i think the best consistent quality we have ever seen in the 25 years of business up here in Muskoka!
I can second the quality, I have put all my boats through a lot without issue.
Thanks for the video. I purchased a Primo from Liv Outside in the spring. It is my first kayak for fishing and I wanted something light and simple. It is a great little boat.
Light and simple is my favorite way to fish, the Ultra lite and the Primo both have that in common. That boat will serve you well.
An incredible day indeed. Only one 20" for me down in AR. I've seen people of up north talk about how down in the south it doesn't get "cold" so the smallies should continuously grow, well let me tell you, 20"s are unicorns down here in the Ozarks. 17s - 19s are common, very tough to get into the 20s. Not sure if it's the Floods, the droughts, and/or the fight with Spotted Bass, but its just a rarity. Enjoy those biggins, don't take them for granted!
I think Smallmouth grow best when they have access to very cold water. That being said AR has some amazing fisheries that would be an absolute blast.
@@RiverSmalliesOn They are! Lots of numbers! It can wear your arms out, we are the very southern tip of native smallmouth, along with Oklahoma. Which we are fortunate to have. Our belief is that it gets too hot for smallies in the summer time, and their growth actually slows down. Water Quality is not the issue. Tightlines!
Canadian smalllouth are crazy!
Dangerously so at times. They are calm this time of year, late summer early fall not so much so.
Superb smallies! Now maybe you can discuss a little more on your lures, line and rod set up. This would really polish off your excellent videos. Thanks for taking us along! High Noon
Thanks, I will be adding this next season. During the off season I am going to put something out about planning for the upcoming year, including my overall thoughts on gear.
Love it!
Great video work. A couple suggestions, show the beautiful smallies a few seconds longer while your holding them and please release more respectfully by the water. Thanks for taking us along! High Noon
Thanks for the feedback, usually my goal is to get them back quickly. I'll definitely look into adjusting my releases.
Fall smallies 🙌🙌
Great Catches, but is that a "minnow dip-net" you're using? Lol. Looks like you're having trouble getting those fish in that Tiny thing...! (BPS will have their Landing Nets on sale, this X-Mas, I'm sure!).
It is a Lucky Strike B2, with a 13x19 hoop. Upgrading to a larger net next season. This one was fine but when I get to the larger fish, it's just not enough.
Stunning scenery and beautiful fish! Can see why you love fall fishing - looking forward to seeing more!!
How many more weeks do you think you will be able to fish?
The season ends November 30th, I am hoping to get a few more days on the water until then.
right on
Thanks, its the best time of year
nice
Amazing day of fishing. Looking forward to more fall fishing episodes.
More coming soon
Like the shout out to Seydoggy after the fish in the plunge pool. Love his book. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching, and engaging. Seydoggy and I fish some of the same rivers, I can relate to his experiences.
Wow!! Can’t wait to see more of your fall fishing 🎣
Do you mind saying where you are fishing in general like north, south or out west? I want to know if what your doing is useful to me in Maryland. Thanks
@@billyp7709 I'll do you one better, try looking for river bends near gravel pits in your area, start there. On Google Earth look for the darker colored water on shallow waterways. Cooler water usually means better Smallmouth as well
Wait... why were you bitching about catching a beautiful pike?
Looks like a great evening of fishing! Cheers man. 🍻
It was pretty awesome, I really didn't think I would find something that size up there
Nice video! Cool channel I’ll definitely subscribe, I love the river smallies!
I appreciate it, there should be some good stuff coming with such an amazing fall season
And the one that didn’t.
The one that got away.
nice
I know it well. 😊
I'll be spending more time on the Grand and it's tributaries next year
Looks like an awesome place to fish those are some really good quality smallmouth
It is an amazing fishery, probably the most potential of any river around here.
Very cool seeing the trout!
After next week, I will probably see more might even land a few. they will be moving up to my part of the river very soon.
new sub good stuff
Thank you, it means a lot. I am still learning how this thing works, and trying to improve the channel
Did not expect that many 15-20 year old fish in a smaller river! Never seen anybody measure every fish; you conducting a survey?
The distribution of those fish is even more interesting. I use my Google Photo mapping on the phone to understand where the larger fish are throughout the river system, so yes in a way I have created mt own survey. Usually under 15in is not measured.
Ya buddy! Nice catches.
They only get better for the month of October.
@@RiverSmalliesOn Looking forward to late Sept and into Oct on the river.
Wow, this video was a fantastic watch! It’s clear that you have spent time perfecting your techniques and understanding seasonal behaviours of the fish. I appreciated the way you explained changes in fish behaviour at this time of the year. Keep up the commentaries.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed the introduction and closing comments this week!! Looking forward to seeing more of your river adventures!
Agree!
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice💚💚
Love your commentary!!
Thank you!
A very windy day! Good job on the 19”.
Thanks, the fishing only gets better now
I really need to keep on top of your videos. Not that bi ge watching is a problem for me. 😂
Enjoy, I am trying to release something every week
Well done, my friend!
Thanks, I was hoping he was still there
Gorgeous 18” smallie!! Wicked pattern on that fish. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks! 👍
To me it's kinda aggravating when you don't show the fish on the measuring stick. It gives the fish a much better point of reference vs when you pick it up and show it in your hands, it makes it much easier for the viewers to get the right perspective when the fish is shown next to or on something
@@bearxbunny1835 thanks, I think I have a way to make that work. If I cannot get a clean shot of the board, I could add the pictures I use for Instagram or Smallie Games.
@@RiverSmalliesOn I appreciate you taking my criticism constructively and not jumping down my throat for pointing it out because other than that your video was great!!!
what net do you have?
Lucky Strike B2, I will be upgrading to their new floating net next year.
@@RiverSmalliesOn okay thanks. did my first tournament in the UL. went well but want a net for those treble hooks lures.
I love my UL, glad to hear it is being used in tournaments. I honestly avoid treble hooks sometimes, just so I don't have to deal with them. But I love the Choppo and crankbaits.
Beautiful and entertaining!! A perfect way to start the week - looking forward to the next one!
