EOTech 50 Yard Zero
Five five round groups out of the 2013 IZHMASH SGL31-68 SAIGA (AK-74 ALPHA) confirming zero at 50 yards/150ft with Hornady BLACK 60gr V-MAX 5.45x39. Optic, EOTech EXPS3-0. Black circles on the Haley targets are 4” not 2” my mistake.

Kalashnikov USA KR-103SFS in 7.62x39. This is my AK-100 series clone. I always tell anyone I talk to about this rifle, only reason I got it is cause I had the correct stock set. I didn’t like the KUSA furniture. Only parts still KUSA are the receiver, bolt, and barrel.

So .. Amazing quiet.. but not enough recoil to consistently cycle the gun??
It’s not the recoil. Ammo related. Likes certain ammo types suppressed.
It's worth the money. ✝️🇺🇸☘️
Only thing I really didn’t like was the stock and the front end heavy don’t recommend suppressing full length rifles.
Give it a second after the trigger resets before squeezing off another round. You'll improve your accuracy.
Not my M77. I was just trying it out. Personally the cheek weld from the wood stock doesn’t work for me. You literally have to jam your cheek against the stock and push down against your jaw line just to be able to see the irons. F that rifle lol.
You ever tried it with a 556 can?
Plan to get the YHM Turbo T3 for this rifle.
How is the sound signature compared to 9mm surppressed?
Depends on the platform. I’ve shot some pretty quiet 147gr with a SilencerCo Osprey 9 on a 9mm PCC. Glock mags I believe it used. My Mk57 is most quiet with the Mask and 55gr subs. I bet with a 5.56 can the 5.7 subs will be just as quiet if not more quiet than 147gr 9mm out of a 9mm SBR. I plan to get a 5.56 can for the Mk57 asap.
theres really no tape switches on the market for this light? thats a bummer.
@@arcxcc no they are sending me tail cap replacement. If it doesn’t fix the light I’ll send it back. I plan to get the full size scout light asap. Already have a mod button and mount.
I will be investing thank you keep up the fn mkii content
I have extra springs for new mags I acquire in the future. You will like them.
Cool
Thought so myself. Only things I don’t like on it are the stock and trigger. Stock needs to sit a bit lower for the cheek weld. Trigger could be nicer I’m used to the AKT-UL.
Ahh, good job. You touched on one of the topics discussed only in hushed whispers amongst the 5.7 aficionados. The difference in point of impact between the various cartridges, which can be significant even at close range. I too like the SS198LF, but it’s POI is way off from say, the American Eagle. I really like that you are doing these tests at 25 yards. That distance reveals accuracy issues that shorter distances might conceal. Keep up the good work. You’ve found yourself a very informative niche.
Really appreciate your input and well informed comments. Especially when it comes to 5.7. I have a lot of 5.7 I would like to test in gel after passing through a plate etc. Problem is setting aside funds for video materials. One day I will get some testing done. In the meantime thanks for watching. I was most upset with the Garand Thumb lethality test. Using only range ammo to demonstrate a calibers lethality is absurd.
@@gnomereviews The Garand Thumb team seemed to be pretty impressed with the performance of the Speer Gold Dot 5.7 in the gel tests but went off the rails when they compared that range ammo to the Speer Gold Dot 9mm defense round. I agree that was a meritless comparison. The problem was that they just didn't have enough experience or knowledge about 5.7. That lead to the misleading statement that armor piercing 5.7 is very difficult to get these days. I think discerning viewers consider Garland Thumb's videos to be intended as entertaining rather than informative. The banter is entertaining rather than illuminating. Keep up the good work. The production quality of Matt Buffman's videos has improved astronomically from when he first started. I look forward to yours doing that as well. Please don't lose sight of the accuracy issue. (pun intended).
Thanks for the focus on the accuracy of the round. Accuracy has been a real issue with the 5.7. Paul Harrell put a harsh light on that problem in one of his videos and Matt Buffman has as well. Thanks again.
Matt and I speak on a daily basis. Don’t know Paul but I’ve watched plenty of his videos. Good guy as well. Yesterday I shot a 20rd full mag group with Speer 40gr HP in my Mk57. All 20rds in a 2” by 2” group. Less than 2” on either side. I will post a shorts video of the target now.
Video is going up at 9:15am. Let me know what you think!
@@gnomereviews hey, looking forward to it.
Is yours centered correctly cause mines is not with the pbs-1 Any tips?
My buddy who owns it. This is his response to your comment. “I’m using a JMAC RRD-360-14F-KM. It squares off the muzzle face not the threads so it fixes concentricity problems. PBS-1s are overbored to account for the same problem so unless his threads are REALLY off center he should still be ok.” Hope this helps.
@gnomereviews I'm mount my pbs-1 to a zastava m77 same as yours So use a jmac for the threads right?
@@thetest8777Are you using a concentricity rod to check?
i was looking for something that didn’t weigh too much. pretty cheap too. helpful review!
So I have been having issues with the light staying on constantly. Replacing batteries way too often. Contacted SureFire. Explained my issue. Never got a response. They just mailed me a tail cap replacement so I can use a tape switch. Being they just mailed the tail cap replacement I assume the tail cap is the issue. I have a Modlite mod button and HRF Concepts Hunchback to try out. Recommended by a friend. His brother runs them on his AR builds. Point of this response is I’ll only be able to use the light momentarily with this new setup. So if you’re alright with that this light may be for you. I’ll make a post on this light after I get it setup in its new configuration. See how she does. Hope this helps. Definitely watch some reviews before you buy anything.
@@gnomereviews dang that’s good to know. thanks for the heads up.
Did you have to file down the rivet or did it fit just fine
Fit just fine
I’m about to buy 4 of these 💀
It’s the only trigger I use in my AK’s. I have the Galil version in my Gen 1 ACE rifle as well. It’s just designated ALG AGT-UL instead of AKT-UL for the AK’s. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Amazing weapon! Nice review! Good luck You in everything!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for the vid!
So SureFire just sent me a new tail cap for a tape switch for this Micro Scout. I’m waiting for the tape switch itself and Magpul MLOK mount. I have been having connection issues. I believe it’s the tail cap since SureFire sent me a replacement without responding to my contact form submission. I was getting ready to give up on the Micro go with a Mini. If this tail cap solves the problem I’ll keep the Micro.
All states should have to stick to one rule . NY should not be able to ban anything
NY and CA are very similar in their unconstitutional gun control bans. Magazine capacity restrictions and cosmetic features. This bill being introduced shouldn’t be a surprise to most.
What have u heard bad about gen 5s? Ive heard there the same with a little bit better trigger. Care to elaborate?
I’m gonna copy and paste a Gen 5 owners statement here. Just as an example for you. If you look up Glock Gen 5 issues it will come up. “#1 · Dec 28, 2023 (Edited) Ok here's the story and the advice that I'm seeking. Brand new Glock19 Gen5. Enough rounds thru it to "break it in" From day one experienced Failure to feed with multiple brands of ammo and multiple mags. Ammo and mags worked perfectly fine in my gen3. Thing was shipped to glock and supposedly fixed along with GPT install. Worked fine for a few range trips except when it stopped working on the latest trip. Went and got myself gen 5 rental from the range. it functioned just fine for 100 rounds of my ammo thru my magazines. Got a carry gen 5 off of one of the range employees that one worked fine as well. so at this point I'm inclined to eliminate myself my ammo or my mags as the problem. On top of that Gen3 19 was my carry gun for close to 2 decades and countless rounds and nay a problem.”
@@gnomereviews lol haven't u heard the the glock performance trigger can cause problems. I don't touch my glock becides red dot and night sights. I have put roughly 3400 rounds trough it literally no problems. I can't even say I have had my ar run that long without something happening.
@@gnomereviews just one example, and there are plenty of examples of every type of machine that has problems. Shit I watched as my rmr was working then it wasn't working yet everyone else says there bomb proof. Well sadly not mine. But funny enough holosuns is the optic tht has ran longer. That's not to say rmr is bad might b dated. shit happens things fail that's normal. as far as I see it he used 2 other 19.5 and they worked so I would start at his pistol not the whole bin of pistols.
@@toadallyawesome5632 you do you. I’m just telling you what I’ve been told. Gen 4 trigger pins walk out on high round counts. Have heard many different Gen 5 issues. Gen 3 is all I’ve ever bought. Never heard of any Gen 3 issues. Personally I’m sticking with the Gen 3 19 100% factory.
@@gnomereviews gen 3s have trigger return spring problems as well the gen 5 is back to the single pin wich is better then the 2 pin design. And the 5s have better springs inside. O and I have a gen 3 use to have a gen 4 it was stolen. So I'm not just biased because I only have a gen 5. I'm just saying what I have experienced and what I have seen the 3s and 5s are the glocks to get. Gen 3 for more parts gen 5 better stock platform that's how I'm lookin at it. Nothing wrong with either. I'm sure that guy in your example could take another 10 or 10k I bet they would all work. Everyone and everything can b a lemon.
Fancy
It’s nice. It will be a good first and only Canik.
Expensive video 😱
Bullet is separating mid flight. Almost every round fired minus the first round fired there is two holes. No key holing either. My thought is the bullet was cut down too far when it was converted from 62gr 5.56 to 40gr 5.7. Brass won’t eject from my FN 5.7 MK2 pistol. Only the rifle it feeds.
@@gnomereviews good to know, anyways to keep those puppies held together mid air?
Don’t have the drum yet? I would like to see if that would cycle 3 subsonic with your Teflon coating
I use FN mags only.
Such a great rifle!
Have some footage to upload stay tuned! All platforms including the 103.
I been saying this for Month's. They Want Our 🔫 🔫 🔫 🔫 🔫 🔫. California gonna fall right in & start to implement quick. They don't have year's something weird is gonna happen & their gonna ✍️ it in 📃 2025🪖🥾🥾
The bill was introduced recently. Believe it will pass unfortunately.
Which is better Fn mags or steel promags
FN factory mags hands down. Elite Ammunition magazine spring. Hope this helps.
Lots of pistols have issues with them, even glocks, There really cool rounds and devastating too, They definitely wouldn't be my choice though because they aren't made to go through hard barriers. Ive herd 1911s feed well with it because they have lighter recoil springs, Witch is probably why your gun won't cycle them because the recoil spring is too heavy.
You gotta use the “Ultra Lights”. Same exact round with a two piece case to aid in extraction. I had no issues with the Ultra Lights in my 2018 HK VP9SK. Have you tried those? If you want something for barriers in 9mm try Underwood Xtreme Penetrator.
Does it work with +10 baseplate
I just checked. The 10rd baseplate comes with its own spring. I doubt it will work. This spring is for 20rd FN 5.7 MK2 magazines. Factory FN mags.
Yeah I know it comes with a spring, I guess it’s just a me issue how the follower gets stuck with such a weak spring I had to use the one that came with and another spring intertwined. Thanks for the review.
@@christiandunbar532 I’d stick with 20rd FN mags with this Elite MK2 Gen 2 mag spring. I can even run 55gr subsonic now with full 20rd mags thanks to this spring. With the factory FN mag spring I could only run about 15rds in my MK2 mags with the CMMG Mk57 and subsonic ammo. Luckily with supers 27gr SS198LF I’ve never had issues running full mags. That’s what my T2 Micro is zeroed for at 25 yards.
@@gnomereviews can you do a vid of running subs through linear comps ?haven’t seen that test. Especially since you’ll have less cycling issues
Yes and it makes the extensions work. The spring that comes with the 10 extension is crap. Since the inception of the extensions I have ran my springs to guarantee 100% function
did you polish it to?
Negative. Over time it polishes itself if you use it.
a what black??
The ammunition used here is 40gr ****Hornady**** BLACK V-MAX 5.7x28. Hope this helps.
@@gnomereviewsoh, thanks for clarification! appreciated it.
@@TitoOwelVlogs they are supposed to be releasing a Hornady Critical Defense in 5.7 as well. Personally I’m not a fan of Hornady using their own brass. FN brass is the only way. What I hold onto.
Nice looking rifle. AK is more accurate than people give it credit for.
All depends on the rifle. In my opinion ZenitCo is the only way regarding modernizing an AK. Sureshot I would only consider if ZenitCo didn’t exist.
Also remember this is a legitimate SAIGA SGL31-68 last year of IZHMASH production and importation before the merge to what is Kalashnikov Concern. This is important cause the manufacturing process was much different. Now everything is state of the art. Done by machines for the most part. When my rifle was built it was done person by person. It was already very accurate. With the ZenitCo furniture it has become a precision rifle for me. Once I get the Dead Air Wolverine the rifle will be complete.
Thank You , ❤ 5.45
All I’m missing for this one is a Dead Air Wolverine. Heaviest ammo I have is 70gr. Hopefully it sounds decent with 60gr.
Also, if they weren’t reliable, I don’t think that the US government would’ve just settled out of court for $15 million on stolen Patton technology
Like I said in my previous response to your other comment. Depends on what platform you are using.
Never had a single issue with liberty civil defense 9mm rounds shot just shy of 200 rounds I am shooting out of my H&K VP9
The standard Liberty ammo won’t feed reliably in my 2018 HK VP9SK. Hence why I use Ultra Lights. It’s literally the same ammo with a two piece case to aid in extraction. I shoot and post my data/review. Originally when I first saw the ammo it was used in a full size VP9. Didn’t have any issues. Probably depends on what platform you’re using..

I ended up buying a blem from them, where did you buy all those russian parts? also can you help me with links, I saw Kvar has that grip and hanguard but curious on break and more info on the carrier and spring you talked about
I’ve gotten all my stock sets from Soviet Stocks over the years. This is before the war with Ukraine mind you. Can’t get the IZHMASH sets anymore. Wood or polymer. If you find any like you said it may be in separate pieces and you’re gonna pay a premium. I would suggest going that route. God forbid you find a stock set you’ll pay a small fortune for it. BCG/piston came from KVAR back in the day. I needed it for my SAIGA at that time. The brake you may find on Gunbroker. I believe I held onto my spare but I’d have to locate it. They start at a hundred beans on gunbroker. Idk if i’d let my spare go. Spring came from Russian Surplus. I recommend looking for all the stuff you want on Gunbroker and Russian Surplus. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Have you tried the ammo that wasn't cycling in a different pistol?
No I just switched to Ultra Lights. Whenever I get a G19 Gen 3 or 4 I’ll try running the Ultra Lights in it as well.
I have the gold color primer liberty and its +p.
You just gotta run it in your tool. To each is their own. If the standard works for you so be it. Had issues in my 2018 HK VP9SK. Ultra Lights I had no issues. That’s what I’m carrying. 15+1.
@gnomereviews yeah but I don't think they make standard. It's all +p in tge 9mm. The primers over the years are different colors. The older stuff the box says 2000fps the newer box says 2040fps both both are +p
I take it that this does not work with the Incog X holster😢
Right now I’m running a Red Earth Concealment shell. All Safariland parts and controls. OWB UBL & QLS. Had to buy the Safariland 5.7 holster first. Shell was garbage. So I had my buddy John at Red Earth use his shell and the Safariland parts and controls. Ended up with a really nice duty rig. Just waiting for my MK2 to come back. Had the new NT7 Plus plating done by Wright Armory. Elite Ammunition new trigger shoe will be put in last.
Nice
Works so far! Good range mags if nothing else.
Cool
They work 🤷🏻♂️
did you ever shoot a group with them? I've seen keyhole now with both the Ruger & also the M&P57
Have not shot a group with T6B. I am not against the idea. I am sure it won’t keyhole in my Mk57. I would refer to Buffmanrange for any 5.7 related questions on here or IG. If you have any questions ask him. Tell him I sent you. Hope this helps.
🇦🇺😎👍
5:23 - SS198 seems to be able to defeat some IIIa. I've seen it fail in old Buffman test (+others), but was sure I saw it work in other video(s). So, maybe depends on the maker? Bottom line I suppose is one wouldn't want to count on it going through? but the wearer also wouldn't want to count on it being stopped? Title: FN 5.7x28 vs Level lllA body armor, does FN really have a body armor penetrating round?? By: 100 RoundsTv (I can try to put the link in a reply) - it's at about the 5minute mark
🤦🏻♂️. Idk what videos you’re watching bud. The Wound Channel had a video up of 27gr T6B shredding a 3A ballistic helmet from different angles. Buffmanrange has videos of SS190. There is no videos of 80Teeth.
@@gnomereviews I put the title of the video name & channel name at the end of the comment.
@@gnomereviews I tried to post the link, but it was deleted or hidden. it's at 4:40 he says what ammo & 5:20 where it penetrates the vest he's using
have you chrono'd the 80Teeth?
Negative. I tried talking a friend into doing it with a larger channel. He has a chronograph. He won’t do it for personal reasons. So until I get a chronograph I won’t be able to get any numbers. I plan to run the SM855A1 and SS190 through my Dead Air Mask once it gets back from repair from Dead Air. Just to make sure it will run. My Mk57 likes SS198LF best with MK2 mags. I really want to find some older USG mags.
🔥
Hasn’t happen to me on any caliber and through a few different handguns per caliber
I use the “Ultra Lights”. Same ammo with a two piece case. Feeds reliably in my 2018 HK VP9SK. Unlike the standard Liberty 9mm 50gr +P. Ultra Lights is the way to go with Liberty Civil Defense.
Very nice

What yardage was that at ?
I was shooting at a 100 yard target. Due to construction happening later that day on the rifle range. I had to go in front of the bays to shoot. So I would say around 75 yards.
Out of the 7 handguns I own calibers ranging from 22lr, 9mm, 45acp, .357 and .38 special my FN 5.7 is my absolute favorite!!
Good thing you went with FN. FN 5.7 MK2 is my favorite pistol. It was accurized by Elite Ammunition. Getting the new NT7 Plus coating from Wright Armory. New trigger shoe from Elite Ammunition. I’ll post on it once it gets back.
