It almost hurts to see some of these photos now. I remember so much of those days. Everyone dressed up and looked nice when they went out. No piercings, no tattoos, no one would even think of going out looking slovenly. No trash in the streets, no spray paint graffiti, everything was well kept and maintained. People had manners. No cussing around women and children. Glad I got to grow up in those days, but I know it will never be anything close to that again, at least in the rest of my lifetime. Thank you for posting these!

The Two Sisters 1897 or sister Blandina Segale & sister Justina Segale founded the Santa Maria Italian Educational & Inductrial Home in Cincinnati, OH dedicated to supporting Italian immigrant women & children.

I was born in sensational New York City in 1951. I’m grateful for your photographs of the most wonderful city on Earth. Those photos of the 50s-60s tell the tale of a very different time. Even as young girls, my sisters and I would venture downtown to shop or lunch, never feeling unsafe. I don’t recall our doors ever being locked. You knew your neighbors and their children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, regardless of your nationality or financial status. There was no hatred towards any faction. We moved upstate to a fantastic rural community, though still frequently in the City for family functions which were plentiful, therefore we had the very best of both worlds. A fond memory of those times was Sunday. Everything was closed with the exception of the grocery store which closed early. Everyone went to the church of their Faith, most of whom we’d see after services at the grocery or bakery. In our home, Sunday breakfast (actually brunch) was a cherished meal after church. As Catholics, Irish-American at that, we fasted before Communion, therefore, by noon we were famished. A large dinner was prepared consisting of a roast and if we were in the City, many family members got together for that important meal. What a dreamlike existence. What love we had for life, God, friends, neighbors, our country and our traditions. Life can be that way again. Greed, and all it brings with it, begins the downfall of every civilization in History. We’re light years from that simple life today. In the context of Tony Soprano, out there it’s 2024. In my mind, it’s 1959. Thank you for this channel which I so enjoy. 🙏❤️

Your photo of King George VI is wrong. In 1925 he was Duke of York and only became King George VI after the death of his father King George V and the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in 1936.
