Vegan in Chicago - Overnight Oats made savory, not sweet
มุมมอง 6043 ปีที่แล้ว
This method of overnight oats adds a little bit of additional nutrition and mildly savory flavor. It’s great if you don’t want a sweet breakfast. Also, it’s very simple and doesn’t involve any cooking. Overnight oats: ¾ cup of old fashioned rolled oats 1 Tbsp of ground flax seed. 1 cup of plain water Combine in a 2 cup container (larger is fine) cover and place in the refrigerator overnight Mix...
Vegan in Chicago - Lord Woolton Pie - a taste of WWII history from Britain
มุมมอง 2363 ปีที่แล้ว
Great Britain in the 1930's was heavily dependent on imported food, but when the German U-Boats surrounded the island, the British people had to get creative. Woolton Pie is one of the recipes from the period, created to use what was available during the rationing period. It also happens to be vegan, delicious, and quite inexpensive to make. www.bigoven.com/recipe/the-original-lord-woolton-pie/...

Vegan in Chicago - I make Wacky Cake! Simple, Frugal, and Delicious
มุมมอง 1153 ปีที่แล้ว
Wacky Cake (or Crazy Cake) is a recipe developed in the Depression era to make a wonderful chocolate cake without eggs, butter, or milk. So, it's accidentally vegan and it is very easy to make. All the ingredients are typical pantry staples. Here's the version of the recipe I am using: www.allrecipes.com/recipe/8389/wacky-cake-viii/ #vegan #veganinchicago #veganandfrugal #vegandesserts #wackyca...
Vegan in Chicago - Pasta & Peas from Great Depression Cooking
มุมมอง 1303 ปีที่แล้ว
I make a slightly altered version of Clara's Pasta & Peas recipe from the Great Depression Cooking channel. I didn't mention this in the video, but I definitely added salt & pepper, and I substituted nutritional yeast for parmesan cheese at the very end. I didn't add her alternate of a bit of tomato sauce, but I may try that next time. Here's the original: th-cam.com/video/7gCvNw_HYjk/w-d-xo.ht...

Beautiful collection 🥰
I have a bunch and I am trying to sell them
I too have a royal ruby collection. My aunt gifted my parents a starter set when they married in 1949. They stayed in the attic for40 years because they were "fancy". I rescued them and expanded the collection. I love to use them especially at Christmas.
I am a collector of Royal Ruby glass and have some unusual pieces too. I have a decanter that has thin lines of silver embedded. It's my favorite piece. Thank you for sharing your collection. It would be nice to view your other pieces.
Adrian Moran I too am an avid collector of Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation's line of Royal Ruby glass. The piece that you believe to be an ashtray (a common assumption) due to the two slots is actually a spoon rest. They did make ashtrays but they are a rather common square shapet that tapers on all 4 sides to the base and has 4 slots -one on each corner. Just thought you might like to know. You have a beautiful collection that rivals my own. You do have a few pieces i was unaware of and don't have. Ill have to rectify that! Thanks for sharing!!
Great flavor and very easy. I added scallions.
In only have a few pieces, but I do love the Royal Ruby pieces.
I find the ruby red color nice but it seems to take away from the style of the piece!! I don't own any blue or ruby red pieces.....both colors don't really float my boat at all.
Thank you I have a set of 8 water glasses. I was looking to see what kind they are. Once I discovered the Ruby Red line, I kept seeing different styles called the same thing. Now I see that they produced many patterns in the ruby red color. Thanks for your video!
My kitchen is full of ruby glass bowls in hutch cups in shelf and garage 2 full boxes put away. Ball pitchers and very large pitcher. I love collection ruby glass plates were very hard to find in good shape. Serving bowls are my favorite items to collect. And various cups colle tons love the leaves candy dishes etc
Interesting and nicely explained and illustrated never knew the correct name or history. THANK YOU
Is the red avon dishes worth collecting?
I would say collect what you love. If you enjoy looking at them and having them - go for it!
@@AdrianMoran thank you so much, that is great advice.
I have so much of the Royal Ruby glass im missing dinner plates. One day thell come along
Thats exactly what I was looking for !! thanks :D
Great collection. I purchased the ruby red punch bowl with stand and 12 cups at a thrift store for $8 a couple days ago and just love it.. so here to learn more about it. I also love the Avon ruby red collection as well so purchased a set of the napkin rings off eBay. Very pretty color. I do wish manufacturers would put labels on the bottom of their products. Very unsightly.
hell yeah man being vegan is life
Great video
Hi Adrian,we bought a storage unit for $25 full of this ,plus crystal dishes ,full sets of them in perfect condition
I make this often. I prep it slightly differently from the original recipe in that I use only about 150 mls of water to steam cook the vegetables. I then use the oatmeal to thicken the liquid to form a nice thick sauce, adjusting the amount of oatmeal to achieve this. I use a stock cube to season and add herbs from the garden, which would have been available and cover with a mashed potato crust Cottage Pie style as my Grandmother used to do. Sometimes I add a little grated cheese to the sauce… from my ration lol I’m sure Lord Woolton wouldn’t mind
Thanks, I just inherited a set of dishes from my husband's grandmother.
Americans don't have good taste.
I have always enjoyed these when thrifting but never bought until today. Me and my wife bought 2 glasses and i thought they were Avon but turns out they are anchor hocking. Thank you for the info i loved the video^^ Also does anyone know if these are dishwasher safe?
They were definitely made before dishwashers were commonplace. They wouldn't have been designed with that in mind. That said, I do put some of the simpler plates and cups in the dishwasher.
@@AdrianMoran awesome thank you so much^^
I wouldn't put them in the dishwasher! Due to the harsher chemicals and abrasives in dishwasher detergent, it will eventually break down the surface, a type of "etching" which will cause permanent embedding of contaminants into the micro abrasions of the surface of the glass. This will make the glass appear "cloudy" or "milky" often accompanied with a slight iridescence. The damage is not reversible. This is true with all glass, even modern glass. This condition is not the same as so-called "glass disease". I can always tell by looking at someone's glassware or in thrift shops, yard sales and the like, no matter what form it's in (tumbler, cups, plates, bake ware, etc) if it's had a life of hand washing or a life of dishwasher hell.
Thank you for sharing this. It's beautiful!
these look delish. am I suppose to heat up the chickpeas or just right out of the can start the mix?
Canned chickpeas are fully cooked, so you can just use them right out of the can.
Good choices! They all look tasty! Thanks for your cooking tips and great ideas! Im new to plant based and this is very helpful! Thanks Adrian!
Great recipe! Looks delicious! I love simple, vegan and no sugar recipes!
My mom and I have a gorgeous parfait glass set of 10 that we inherited for my great-grandmother. We arent sure where to take it and possibly sell

I love your video on royal ruby glass . I have so much glass and collectibles red being my favorite color. I think i am near you in the suburbs. It is nice to see someone with a love for these treasures.
Super!👍👍👍
I love ur videos <3
i love this place so much! you need to try the desserts, people rave about the tiramisu but i love the strawberry shortcake so much i have to order it every time!
The desserts are delicious. I think there was a mocha cake at one point that was a favorite.
Adrian I have some wonderful recipes I’d like to send you
Adrian I have the recipe you requested two cans of tuna fish one bottle of marshmallow cream one bottle of clam juice Spread on white Wonder Bread with catchup with a drizzle of marmalade
My Avon dishes are beautiful,How could I send you a picture of my dishes, if I’m not mistaken they are a full set candle holders chocolate mugs, when I say the whole set, it’s everything they made. If I could send you a picture, you could see how beautiful they really are.
I have a collection of Ruby Red Avon dishes, they all are numbered and say Avon on the bottom.
Avon did a whole line called the Cape Cod Collection. It has a very distinctive look reminiscent of old sandwich glass.
Britain still thanks God for tins of American spam
Looks delicious
Never thought of chick pea salad sandwiches. Will have to give it a try!
Love this video excited to try these recipes out thank u !!
I love this red glass very beautiful .thanks for sharing
Nice♥️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I inherited a service for 8 from my mother. It is the only antique that I have that our daughter wants
I have several pieces of this as well as some pink depression glasswares too, my grandmother had them and I inherited them!
Cool, me as well
Can you tell me anything about a ruby red punch bowl with a silver tray that went over the punch bowl and held the cups . The bowl was a large round bubble and had a silver lid.?
I don't think I have seen one quite like what you are describing. I definitely don't think it's Anchor Hocking. There is a very pretty ruby glass round punch bowl by New Martinsville, but I have not seen it pictured with a silver base or top. The pattern is called Radiance in case you want to look up a photo.
