WHY Older College Players Are Being ROBBED of NBA Draft Opportunities!
Are older college players being unfairly overlooked in the NBA Draft? In this video, we dive deep into one of the most controversial trends in basketball: the tendency for NBA teams to prioritize younger prospects with "potential" over older players with proven skills.
We’ll explore how the obsession with upside has created a bias against older players, even when they dominate in college basketball. Is it fair that NBA teams often see players who stay in school to develop their game and mature both mentally and physically as “less desirable”?
💡 Examples from the NBA Today
We’ll spotlight current NBA players who entered the draft as “older” prospects and prove that age doesn’t determine success. These players have defied the odds and made significant contributions to their teams, showing the league what polished, experienced players can achieve.
🏀 Why Older Players Get Overlooked
We’ll also break down the reasons behind the age bias, including:
The NBA's fixation on long-term potential and athletic upside.
The fear that older players have "peaked" in their development.
How the "one-and-done" trend has shifted draft strategies.
📊 What Does This Mean for the NBA?
This age bias raises big questions for the league. Are teams missing out on immediate contributors by undervaluing experienced players? What does this mean for the future of the draft and college basketball?
Join the conversation and let us know what you think! Should older prospects be given more opportunities in the draft, or is the league’s focus on youth justified?

Australians are thriving more and more overseas. NBA, MLB, and WWE have all tapped into the talent pool down under, and it is amazing to see these young Aussies get these opportunities to shine on such a big stage! I just wish we could keep some of that talent for ourselves to build something bigger here at home too!

Keep a eye on Dyson Daniels younger brother,Dash. At 17 he just announced yesterday that he signed with Melbourne United under the NBL Next stars program. This kid will be another Aussie NBA top ten draft pick in the near future. A lot claim he is a better talent than Dyson especially given his ability offensively.

Only problem is - we have great role players, but we don't have an out and out scorer. We had it in Patty Mills when the boomers won "Rose Gold", but with Patty in the twilight of his playing career, there really isn't anyone to take that place. In fact we have so many 3 & D wings that Thybulle couldn't make it on the Boomers Olympic team. We could of course go for the "shoot 3 first" strategy that the NBA is increasingly going towards, but with our players only shooting mid-30s, it could be a bit of a hit and miss (pardon the pun) strategy. Jingles may seem be good for this strategy with his 25th placing all-time NBA high 3 point% but he's just too slow for this type of fast paced run and gun play. This of course excludes Ben Simmons but then no one really expects him to suit up for the Boomers anyway, after years of "maybe" participation.

Obviously AFL is the most attended sport in Australia & 3rd most attended domestic sport in the world only behind the NFL & the Bundesliga. But the NBL has been thriving the past several years with consistent stadium sell outs every game & popular viewing through paid platforms like Kayo or ESPN which is quite the achievement considering it gets next to no airtime on Australian free too air or exposure in mainstream media.

You haven't been watching the games and it shows. It you had it would have been apparent that yes, the thing we needed was actually another scorer. Giannis was starving every night before dame, taking the whole burden of the scoring. And it wasn't working consistently. Most of the time there was no one he could lean on, except for some occasional bail out games from Jrue or Khris (when he wasn't injured). Dame was definitely the solution to that. I just wish we would have kept Bud so that we could keep our old defensive mindset.

My man didn't do enough research on this video and it shows. Only surface level inferences were made here which ignores the nuances. Adrian Griffin was not a good fit, cuz even if we were winning, we were not winning good, and it was only a matter of time when teams figured us out. Moreover, players were unhappy with the utter lack for defensive strategy, and with the bucks having had a past of being defensive juggernauts, this sudden shift from brilliant defense to non existent defense was not taken well. While I agree, firing Bud was not the best decision, but even after firing blBud and AG, we could've got Nick Nurse, but we went with doc instead, and that is where we lost.
