So many railways
That’s me in the green jumper and high vis jacket in the cab of the 59
So, who's the driver, trainspotters??😊
Cool! When did you record this?
@@Bucko15 Oh ages ago! I think it was some time around September of 2023. Maybe the 2nd? I honestly can't remember! Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️
How did you get to go. And when dud you find out that they were open
@@angustrains2305 The Lake Maquarie Light Railway Society and the ARTC collaborated to make a 'rail training' program for younger lads possibly enthusiastic in the industry. I was one of these kids. There were three groups that rotated to show different operations of railway life. They were signalling, the signature footplate ride and trackwork. I was alerted by one of my teachers at school and I signed up. The LMLR are not open to the public, but I reckon the positive reception given by students will encourage Graeme Swanson (who owns the property, he's a good bloke) to launch more of these exercises. Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
Great video, I should check that out someday looks like a fun place
@@NSTV-38 It was really fun, although they are unfortunately not open to the public as of writing. Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
I was there today and it was very good, also great video
@@NSTV-38 Yeah it was quite fun. I personally don't like Sydney, and I was attacked by some junkie outside the Aurora Hotel on my way TO the station and I wouldn't go to the city for any other occasion, but the Expo was certainly a fun day out. Thanks for the comment and for tuning in, DP ☺️.
Great video :)
@@NSTV-38 Cheers! Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
It’s not a shuttle it’s a transfer run to chullora for upcoming picnic train tours in the Sydney, south coast and southern highlands areas
I love trains. My father worked for the Illinois Central railroad here in Paducah Kentucky
@@kennyrupp7379 Ah, the old I.C! That's a very interesting story right there! Thanks for tuning in, DP☺️
Do you volunteer ?
@@Bucko15 I wish I did! Unfortunately I'm too young at the moment to get my hands dirty, but the day I turn 17 is the day I sign up! Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️
Oh ok cool. I also would like to volunteer but I am also too young I have emailed them with some questions and I can’t wait till I am 17😁
There is a chance we may be put in the job together one day.
@@Bucko15 Hmm, one can only imagine! ☺️
Yeah, I was actually on the afternoon journey of the singleton picnic train.
Cool
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN yay
Great video, but can I ask what gevo means because I’ve never heard it before :)
That's a very good question. The 92s, 93s and 94s are all designated under the same loco class, the GE C44ACi, with their numbering based on their batch of delivery. The ACis are all under the General Electric EVolution series of locomotives. GEVOs are really common in the US, and most enthusiasts abroad don't care too much for them because of their common nature. I prefer to call them by their number class (93 class) or as a GEVO, instead of calling them by their proper name. Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊)
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN thanks for letting me know, I thought that it could of had something to do with c44aci. Have a great afternoon
@@NSTV-38 Glad I could be of some help! Have a good arvo yourself! 😊
Great video :)
@@NSTV-38 Thanks ☺️
Sorry but who is kingas?
@@Bucko15 I'm actually not too sure! It's definitely an in joke or a reference by the shop crews I reckon! Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN all good, I was just asking because I went on the afternoon journey and I saw it while I was taking photos of the loco and got a little confused
I just went on the afternoon journey!!
I have no idea why the quality is SO bad! Definitely a problem with the processing of the video. It looks good as on my phone.
A great little video the 90 class was one of the best locos the railway bought.
They've certainly gotten a cult following in recent years! Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️.
This train is interesting
I am a fan of these bi-cab units. Don't see them too often, though. Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️.
oh geez
Why did y use the word emu in ur vid?
An EMU stands for Electric Multiple Unit
Xplorer regional train, not endeavours, mechanically the same though
@@RailDoesTravel That's a mistake I'll make until I cark it haha! Thanks for tuning in and thanks for the correction, DP 😊.
I love Qube, it’s probably my favourite Australian freight company. Great video
@@NSTV-38 They are really nice. Problem is, you don't see them as often as you do with, say, a PN or Genesee. Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN your welcome, it’s a shame they mainly do steel because it would be a amazing to see them with other things like coal or containers but anyway have a good afternoon
@@NSTV-38 Now I cant get the image of a triple header QUBE with a kilometer of containers out of my head 🤣. Have a good one!
Good footage
@@MAte925 Thanks for the supportive feedback! Thanks for tuning in, DP 😊
It is an xplorer not endeavour
@@was9503RBLXNewAccount Ah, that's a mistake I will make until I die haha. Thanks for tuning in and likewise for the correction, DP. 😊
Cool video !
@@Martindyna Cheers! Nearly costed me a $4000 camera but I think it was worth it, right? Cheers for watching, DP 😊
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN Haha yes worth it !
Nice video with great sound. I don't know why sometimes it happens that the main Alternator exitation holds the Diesel engine speed down to near idle as illustrated in this video. Seems like a fault to me.
@@Martindyna hmm, could it be boiled down to age perhaps? Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN Hi 👋 Thanks for your response. Age & lack of maintenance. Similarly the coaches should give a nice quiet ride but too often there are squeaks & groans from the suspension which should have been fixed years ago. I still love the XPT, probably due to its connection to the BR IC125.
@@Martindyna Yeah, i'm not too fussed over those pommy imports. Their still nice to see on the trainspotting rounds, though. It is unfortunate that Trainlink doesn't bother maintaining their elder stock as much as they could.
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN Although the power cars are based on the Class 43 they are heavily modified to suit Aussie conditions like double the engine cooling & lower traction motor gearing to cope with the long steep gradients, hence the reduced design speed of 160 km/h. Due to a slightly different exhaust system the VP185 engines sound far better in the XPT which have a pleasant exhaust note. The XPT was designed and built in Australia by COMENG so Aussies can be proud of the end result. The carriages are based on a Budd design because the BREL mark 3 trailers were considered unsuitable. Although not at all high tech nowadays the remote operation of the rear power car still seems kinda cool.
Great video, that’s a very nice angle of the hunter railcar
@@NSTV-38 Ah cheers man, I wish it was a bit higher though. Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️.
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN your welcome, have a good evening :)
@@NSTV-38 Likewise man 😊
Scenes like this will soon be just a memory as the 90 classes are getting stored with some due to be scrapped at some stage
@@robbiewales3007 Yeah, I've had some good memories regarding the great 90s. As of 2024, the class leader is at Port Waratah yard, pending scrap. Thanks for tuning in, DP ☺️.
Great video, just a small correction that train is actually a explorer not an endeavour although they look the same there is some differences, but anyway great video
@@NSTV-38 Ah right 😅. Must've slipped my judgement on that department. Thanks for tuning in, DP
@@DP.NSWRAILFANyour welcome have a great day

Dont fall in 😅
Haha I'll try
Oooh, interesting 🤔 beep beep
Yeah, whenever a loco came in, they got something of a hero's welcome by the traction engines ☺️
Steady hands
What beautiful things you can do with a tripod 😉

Wont be to much longer till they are gone, recently caught 3 all in freight corp livery

Cheers, mate!! 😊
Gotta love Maitland, I live in singleton so I go to Maitland often and fantastic video
Cheers mate, that really means a lot!
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN your welcome, have a good day
HERE in the US we have some that's been converted to burn oil instead of coal, Big Boy is one of them that was made in 1941, towards the end of the era. Sure can tell the difference, the coal burner bellows out so much black smoke and the all you see from the oil burners are mostly steam evacuating.
That's like our local 59 class locos of 1952/53. They were made by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton as oil burners. All but three would retain their oil burning facilities upon withdrawal in the 1970's. Cheers!
@@DP.NSWRAILFAN Same in East Africa, all Garratts were built as dual fuel. The place for the coal stoker motor is in the gap behind the cab.
