The speaker mentioned that tithing is Biblical. Tithing is unbiblical in terms of practice and application. Tithing belongs to the Jews, it was never directed to the Church and the New Testament is silent to prescribe such doctrine. You'll have to make an argument how tithing is prescribed to the Christians from the NT. Tithing is not the same as giving. Tithing comes from the Hebrew word 'Ma Aser' meaning tenth. Under the Mosaic Law, the Jewish people were required to pay 3 tithes. 1. Giving to the Tribe of Levi --every year, 10% of a person's annual harvest to given to the Tribe of Levi. The Levites were the priests of Israel, however, they did not receive a portion of the tithe. They were responsible for the teaching of the Torah, managing the temple and sacrifices (see Num 18:21-24 & Lev 27 for reference). 2. Feast tithe--10 per cent remaining annual harvest, this was for the person to keep for festivals and sacrifices of the Lord. (see Deut 12). 3. 10% was set aside by the Jews to give to the Levites, Orphans and widows in their town (Deut 14:28-29). Essentially, all 3 tithes are food, not income. There was no requirement from people living outside of the Promised Land to give their crops or their wages to the Levitical Priesthood. We cannot use Malachi 3:10 because the context is not for the Christian! The author is directing to a Jewish audience. We cannot apply this text to the Christian because it is inconsistent with the gospel message. Churches and pastors who teach tithing to their congregants are endorsing the Mosaic Law. and virtually going against the gospel message and the whole counsel of God. No matter how you put it, whether your intentions are pure in the giving, tithing is unbiblical practice for Christians. You will then need to be consistent to fulfil all the other 613 laws in the Old Testament. It is an exegetical fallacy to use the concept of tithe to teach the church about giving. Neither of the two are the same. Noticed that in the Old Testament, it was a requirement for the Jews to tithe. It was almost like their tax system. Giving is sacrificial (Acts 4:32-35) but also joyful. One thing I agree with the speaker as Christians should give because Christ gave His life for us.
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to listen to the entire sermon and for leaving a message. Feel free to message Pastor Wee Yeong directly if you are looking to discuss this further. God Bless!
@ENAKLCity I'm leaving my comment here for people to read and question the teachings of this sermon. Your pastor is already sold to this false concept of tithing,.which there is no point disputing the Truth. It is by the grace of God he'll humble himself and re-examine his theology.
Richard is a true man of the Most High God - he brings the amazing message of Jesus Christ - the one true Son of God - in a relatable and passionate way. Listen to his words, they are full of the truth of Christ and the Biblical mission to save lives and souls. Peace of the Lord be with you always......
When is religion gonna disolve out of exsistance
No need to be disrespectful
the quote is from Justin Peters. If Justin Peters spoke at this church, he will never invited again because he will rebuke the leaders of this church for holding to false teachings such as speaking in tongues, prophetic ministry and women pastors.
Christians are the only people who will sit through a mindless, fact-less bludgeoning of their characters, their homes, and their parenting. Why do you let someone speak to you like this? And NEWS FLASH: It's not just young people who spot Christian disconnects.
Amen 🙏
Zzzzzzzz
Holy shit, another goddamn Christianity video. Save it for your family or some shit cause I know damn well a lot of us didn't fucking ask you to do this, nor did we want you to.
