When I watched this movie, I was appalled that those dogs were chained up and left behind with a major storm approaching. Why not just let them loose to begin with? Those men left the dogs to die! 😱😡
This fiction storyy IS Based On A True Event. They found most of dogs still living when they went back , was all in the news at the time. Then screenplay for this movie written, movie made.
It is based on a true story, but in the true events only 2 dogs were found surviving (Taro and Jiro) out of 15 dogs that were left. In reality 7 dogs died on the chain, 6 disappeared (died) and 2 survived.

KNOWING Max would NEVER leave Mya behind...... is one of the most beautiful moments I've EVER seen.... Cinematic or otherwise! Love Loyalty & Respect... This movie is part of the reason I have a full blooded husky now.. Wonderful dogs & family.... for life... <3
Maya got her pack through all those frozen weeks when they were alone. She protected them from danger. She found a way to provide them with food. There was no way Max was leaving her behind when they finally got rescued.
