I’ve had the same experience with the dealership like you did. I made the mistake of bringing it in for a broken window motor and they fucking ripped a corner of the tint inside my car and had the nerve to say that they didn’t when they called me for a quote
great story bro! hope to get a used one and have the same results like you! how did your mechanic fix the heater issue? I def will test that heat when I test drive one!
lol gm was getting a payout from the gov to build EV's and it was based on a total number built so as soon as they made ~240k cars in 2019 they just stopped the whole production line and then ripped out the engine and put in more battery and called it the bolt so they could keep getting the subsidy. the volt pre 2016 was the best ev and most misunderstood. it actually has a 100 mile battery in every model year but it stops you from using most of the battery so it doesnt degrade over time. they made a mistake making this car so durable thats another reason they had to stop making it. its basically a tesla with a generator that never degrades its battery. the 2016 volts have cheaper versions of the motors and batterys and everything so they bumped the engine up to 1.5l which will just make it wear out faster and get worse mileage. imo this was the best year of this car... maybe 2014-2015 but the 2013 still had the premium trim. theres a reason it costed so much more money for the early models like urs
Thank you for your honesty! 💯 I also have a 2013 Volt (purchased in 2012)! Apart from getting a few recalls resolved for free by a Chevy dealership, I’ve also had zero issues! Love this car!!
My volt survived a .22 bullet through the radiator and ac condenser, had to get that replaced obviously but still going strong 💪 187k on mine still going strong on original brakes. Regular maintenance such as oil, Transmission fluid flush and Spark plugs changed.
OK I am grateful I found this because this happen to me but the comments are what lead me to the problem on the mainboard the Main Board Coil P0C94 Main is the issue here... it is located between the two vertical transistor heat sinks. If you own these you know they do get very hot. I now run these with a blower blasting on the backplate... That is beside the point. So you have to take out the mainboard and place more solder on the coil connections they just get hot and they did not put enough sold on the connection points. It will solve the issue... I have only test these for 20mins I will run them for an hour and update if issue raise its head again
Hello Joshua. Thanks vor sharing your brilliant find. I had the exact same problem with my IP3000: sound pulsing on and off. Opened the sub, found the big P0C94 Main coil. No obvious issues with the solder points underneath the mainboard, but I followed your advice and put a good amount of new solder over each pin. Success! The amp plays for ten hours now, full power and not one single drop. Thank you!
By the way, I will put a 12 cm fan in to keep temperatures of the electronics lower, even more for when the woofers do not move much air inside the cabinet.
How did you remove the control / access panel from the cab? After unscrewing all 999,427 screws, the panel does not budge. Before I hit it with a crowbar, please share your personal experience repairing these damned things. Thanks!
@@djjdinidaho It doesn't. Can you, by chance, shoot a video of the entire repair you made; from opening up the cab forward, pointing to what components you identified as being the source of the problem? It would be very helpful for those of us out here (as I am finding, there are many) who do not have the luxury of warranty protection anymore, nor the time to wait for the million-pound unit to be shipped to a repair facility a 1000 miles+ away, fixed at some point and then shipped back. We'd appreciate it!
Word is that it's the soldering on the board, it heats up, comes disconnected, cools then reconnects. They say to add a ton of. soldering. on it so it stays on connection
the 13 volt has a history of issues with the heater.. I just mountain mode to warm up and hold on the highway to keep warm. My heater has never worked. But thing are fine as the engine provides heat with those modes. Very expensive fix and they have to take apart most of the engine to get to the heater to fix. I think it should be a recall.

When my had that issue It was just low on antifreeze lol easy fix luckily... I add antifreeze about once a year... Car is at 216 000 miles ! Right now I'm getting rough idle when it starts in morning but goes away after a min...
I really appreciate this review - my Prius was stolen (thanks LA), and I agree, I've always thought it was ugly, but my Prius was a workhorse. Anyway, now that it's gone, I was looking for other alternatives to the Prius, and the Volt stood out. Even my mechanic (and kudos dude, I agree, dealers are rip offs!) who specializes in hybrids, said "over the Prius, Sonata and Optima PHEV, you will be happy with the Volt" - and even my research shows many happy Volt users. Also - THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VID AFTER DRIVING IT LIKE CRAZY 170k miles! This is the type of honest vid I was looking for before going to the Chevy dealer to look at a used 2017/2018 Volt! Btw, love your sense of humor haha (this ain't no Corolla review lol) - you tell 'em! thanks man!
I hear the heater thing is common problem with the electric heater on Gen1 after awhile. There may be a replacement cost fix for it, but fixable. Some people who complained the heater didn't work too well, got this "fix" and now report amazing heater results.
Hello I have the same problem with my car only work for a little bit when I’m driving but then turn into cold can you tell me about your experience thank you

@@djsmootht6825 yes I did, I may have to reopen it, towards the end of the night it started failing again. Seem like a coil is getting too hot and it's melting the solder.
We have a 2013 that we bought brand new. 90,000+ miles and the only problem we had was went to grocery store on full electric and parked with over half battery charge left. We came out and the car would not power up to drive home. The 12 volt battery had went bad. Had the car towed and dealership replaced the 12 volt battery and problem cured. The Volt uses the small 12 volt battery in the rear to perform the computer power up.
@@dalephillips8250 The only fail was me not understanding how the system worked. Would have been an easy fix. Should have just "jump started" the Volt and replaced the battery just like you would on any ICE. The other point to notice is that the battery was original and over 7 years old. Again, the "fail" was my ignorance, not the Volt. Still Driving the same Volt and am now over 120000 miles. Still the best car I have ever owned.

DJ Sulay how much did it cost you to fix the heater on the volt and how much range of driving are you getting with electric only after you fully charged it?
Speaking from experience, if the Volt will not power up, check the small 12 volt battery in the hatchback floor. The Volt uses this small battery to power up the computer in start up. Does not matter if you have full charge or not in the big battery. This has been the only problem we have had in our 2013. Had to have the car towed, dealership put in a new 12 volt battery no problems prior, or since. 90,000+ miles and still love our Volt.
