Tofauti.org was founded by Crista Cullen MBE
Crista grew up in Kenya - surrounded by its natural habitat, its local people and its wildlife - deeply aware of both its beauty and its fragility.
Having gone to school in England through her teenage years, Crista fell in love with sport - becoming an elite level hockey player and ultimately winning Olympic Gold in Rio as part of the GB team.
She founded Tofauti to bring her two worlds together.
Her belief in the power of teamwork - built through the highs and lows of a 15-year international hockey career.
Her deep understanding of the challenges facing Africa’s animal and human populations - the place she grew up and the place she still calls home.
Team Tofauti is now small but growing. Diverse in our backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. United in our goal. To come together to make a difference for Africa’s wildlife and communities.

Live within your means, use your surroundings and build a Mud House.
Returning for an extended period of time to Kenya during the pandemic I had a little more time on my hands than I was accustomed too, putting it to good use I embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery. Learning on the job of how to build a mud house, using methods and technique adapted from the local African tribe the Akamba people.
It is quite a process and I wanted to take you along the route with me from breaking ground, to the final finished product. We hope you enjoy!

In a year that has been tough for everyone, we thank you for the support that we have received to be able to get three projects completed and one underway to be completed in 2021. Tofauti is about positively making a difference, fighting for what we believe in and united knowing that we will persist and achieve if we are in this together. 2021 is going to be another positive step in our journey...

Clare Balding in Reteti - community led initiative

Clare Balding joined the Tofauti team to share the amazing story of Reteti elephant sanctuary, a community led initiative which benefits both the people and the wildlife. Tofauti have assisted by providing Raw Whey protein that is needed for the baby elephants to survive, along with some other orphans. This is a great example of working together to achieve a better environment for us all to grow.

A great night celebrating all things Africa at the Tofauti Conservation Ball. Bringing a 'difference' to London, held at the Hurlingham Club, a very special evening raising an amazing £125,000 for projects around benefitting communities and wildlife in Africa. Thank you to all that came and supported us!
