Building A Model Ranch House |09| Framing Ext. & Int. Walls
Construction of this mini house continues with the framing of the exterior and interior house walls of "The Gunnison," a 1-story traditional house designed by @AdvancedHousePlans
Floor Plan:
www.advancedhouseplans.com/plan/gunnison
Before any walls get stood up there is some prep work that must be done. All headers must be cut and assembled, jack studs cut and attached to the window and door king studs. I also made 2 sets of mini saw horses! This all adds to the realistic aspect of this model house being built.

I plan on watching all your videos from start to finish. This has been the most realistic and coolest build I've seen so far especially since most of what I find on TH-cam excludes wood framing. As a recent undergraduate in construction, I'd love to learn how to build model houses like this as a hobby. I can't wait to see the completion!

I'd love to hear more about your background in the construction trades and what inspired you to do this. I'm constantly on the search for people who are doing this kind of thing and am very excited to see what your plan is for interior finishes and how you plan to solve some of the hurdles and challenges that come with building on a small scale. I'd love to hear about your material selections, what scale you're building in (I use 1:8), I'm also very interested in your ground prep was, do you have drainage? What's the depth of your ground? Lots of questions but I'd be more than willing to nerd out and/or collab if you're interested! I'll be following this very closely

Hey TR.. Thanks for doing some narration. It’s always more interesting when viewers can see and understand what you’re thinking as well as what you’re doing. I have been building models for a while, although not house models. I’m currently planning several model houses and gathering materials. I hope to get started RSN (Real Soon Now). I’ve watched several builds here trying to avoid mistakes that would prove costly in time as well as money. It’s interesting to see how others approach different parts of the builds. Lots of different ideas…. Couple of questions… Are you building a staircase into the basement? Will you have ‘access’ to interior rooms? Are you planning interior finish (walls, ceilings, floors, plaster, paint, tile, hardwood, etc.)?? Given any thought to electrical- maybe LED lighting? What about exterior finish like landscaping?? Anyway, thanks for doing this.!! I’m learning on the backs of those who went before me. 🤔

I first want to start off by saying that I'm making all this up as I go. Now, I work in the construction industry, and have experience building houses...but as far as this craft goes...I'm making it up! The premise of this channel is to build model houses while mimicking the real world process of building a home. This very first house...is an experiment. This first house is taking the idea from within and bringing it into existence. Not only am I interested in making the actual model houses, I have fallen in love with the whole youtube creative process. I am really searching for the opportunity to create something unique, that people will gain or learn something from, and have the ability to caltivate something i have a passion for. Now, to answer some of your questions... Again, this first house is to get a feel for what works...and what doesn't. I have learned sooo much from the process so far. This first house will be all about BUILDING the structure and finishing the outside. I, for this project, will not be finishing anything inside. The direction is to do all that in time while keeping the essence of building a home. That includes LED lights as well. My next project will include way MORE of the process from start to finish. Starting with planning, estimating material, making the material...all that. The original idea I had of the channel has changed since the inception. And it will continue to change based on feel and what the community wants. Because to be honest, I'm not sure what all that looks like right now. I am always open to new ideas and feed back. I certainly don't know everything! I'm always available to help as much as I can so please, any questions you or anyone else has, please reach out!
