Footprint 6 - Aunty Barb History Journey - Looking back, looking forwards
This is the 6th 'footprint' on the Aunty Barb Walking History Journey.
Created by Aunty Barbara Wingard and Dulwich Centre Foundation this journey honours significant histories in the south-east corner of Adelaide. The stories are spoken by Sharon Perkins and Trent Wingard.
This is our last stop. It’s a chance to think of our own histories and our own ancestors.
If you had the chance to speak with your ancestors, those who were alive at the time these houses were built, what would you most want to say to them? Or ask them? And what would you tell about the histories we have walked today?
Thinking about our ancestry also invites us to consider future generations and what it is that we wish to leave for them when we are gone. What steps can we take in our lifetimes to redress injustices that we were born into?

These include the first song I wrote in a work context using narrative practice. It’s called ‘Pride’ and the lyrics were spoken to me from an HIV positive man, Wayne, who I worked with in L...

This tremendous man had taught me when I was a young boy and has imprinted one of the fondest memories I have about growing up in mount Isa. His respect and desire to teach has left an ever lasting impression on my life with showing me the wonders and culture of the owners of this land I'm fortunate to call my home. Thanks mate.
