      @talkdirttomepodcast we make in crocks too, I was thinking it would take a lot of crocks to get your volume. Might look at kimchi crocks like the Koreans use. Proud hobby farmer here lol! We went into this knowing that we weren’t gonna make money hand over fist. Just want to make our farm self sufficient as much as possible without dumping a lot of extra into it. If we manage to make a dollar or two over that then that’ll be fine as well. Only have about 10 usable acres out of 13 so it’s not like we can run an operation like the Four Sixes anyway.

    • @talkdirttomepodcast

    Why don’t we see more fuel being made out of our corn and beans? More ethanol and biofuels could be made. That could add the demand the row crop farmer needs

    • @talkdirttomepodcast
      @talkdirttomepodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are mandates in some areas that a certain percentage of the fuel must contain ethanol, which may help grain prices, but I (Bobby Lee) don't necessarily agree with that approach (government mandating use of a product when the market doesn't necessarily demand it). We have those external factors impacting supply and demand, which unnaturally affects the markets. If biofuels are great, the markets will demand that more grain be grown and made into those products.

    I personally know Robert Warren. Met him in July of 2022. He’s an electrician as I am. This man is such a well liked man and his stories are all truthful and entertaining. He claims he is writing a book now of his life. I believe he’s somewhere near 75 years old. He was in the battle of the Ia Drang in South Vietnam in 1965. He was enlisted in the 1st Air Cavalry serving under Colonel Hal Moore US Army. Robert was shot down twice in that battle. He was good friends with Sam Walton and his wife and also knew the Davis’s founder of Winn Dixie stores.

So you couldn't even sleep while he's alive. So random dude first, then your dog, you'll have to go through both to last 2 months. Especially with no refrigeration. 😂

      Yes, I did hear about that. Really unfortunate & I often worry about that because we have cattle and horses all on the same property. We don’t use feed with monensin often, but when we have it, I take extra precautions to be sure horses can’t get into it. You hear about cases like this occasionally, but I’m not sure that I’ve ever heard of so many dead horses on one farm/ranch.

    The Sonnes' had essentially a 3 year drought through last year. This year they had monster rains. Some stuff got completely drowned out.

    I had a drone spray my roundup ready sugar beets this year. The custom applicator said his drone sprays 3 gallons per acre. I had 3 feet tall weeds so I didn’t think the roundup would do anything to those big weeds, but especially since we only had 3 GPA per acre to work with. I had them put roundup in the tank mix anyway to hopefully get the smaller weeds in the field. The drone knocked the shit out of those big weeds. The spray completely killed them. I was shocked. I think drones work so well because the downward air movement from the drone rotor blades.
