I just picked up my dupage 1903, one of the 900$ ones. The stock is quite a bit worse with deep gouges and a missing chunk at the muzzle. Windage knob is bent and very hard to turn. Once again your luck is good 👍
I really lucked out on mine. Only missing the rear sling bar, had a couple of small water spots on the stock and minor surface rust. Cleaned up very nicely with 30 minutes of fine steel wool and oil. Also has a good bore. Best milsurp bang for the buck I've found in a long time. I'm sure others have gotten burned though.
@@honkhonkler7732 nice looks like you definitely lucked out!
Watching this makes me glad that I always pass on RTI (IO INC)
I picked up one of these B grade for sale as well, but added the board select cause I hear that a lot of these have bad balls. And I got a really good bore just really dirty and it was one of those first rifles with the longer hand guard.
Nice sounds like you lucked out
What caliber are the field grades?
@@keithg3102 .30-06
I jumped on the Bgrade sale, got one standard and one hand select bore, both are in pretty good condition I’ll be making videos as well
Looking forward to checking them out.
Ugly but it's 7.35!
Bavo. Now comes the hard part. The cleanup and restoration. I too have purchased from RTI. I got lucky. But really, this is buying Milsurp in 2024. There was much more 30 years ago. Yeah, sounds like a long time. You wait. It's there before you know it.
Yeah totally. It's only going to get worse unfortunately. Not too many caches left out there.
is this in 7.35? i have several carcanos in 6.5 but not this model. i do have an m38 but in 8mm which is a bear to shoot. they were out of the 6.5 by the time i seen the email. hope the bore is decent
That's correct, bore looks decent so far but won't know for sure until I clean it out.
I got the carcano back that I had to return. While it was gone I paid extra to upgrade and bore select. The rifle I got back is almost as bad as the one I returned. RTI kills me
Yeah they can definitely be hit or miss. Hopefully they take care of you.
Very cool gotta love the jfk model carcano
how did you clean the stock?
@@caveman775 I've found some Murphy's Oil Soap in warm water with a sponge helps for the first step on filthy stocks. Just make sure you wipe it dry and don't let the moisture sit on the wood. Then follow up with boiled linseed oil. For any particular dirty areas with hardened grease or dirt carefully use boiled linseed oil and 0000 steel wool.
I have a ax 40 code Mauser and it’s not all numbers matching shocking but it has a barrel with marking 24G1 does anybody know what that means. 🍻 thx for the vid and sweet collection.
Thanks for the video. I might have found one to restock.
@@Baltimoreed glad it was helpful

Any plans of getting one of the B grade Czech K98s that they have currently ?
@@wildoats1903 I have a video of a Czech K98 from RTI on my channe. It was a B grade that turned out pretty well. Immaculate bore.
What is this "Murphy" cleaner you refer to, pray tell. I am curious. Love your videos.
@@GenerationKill001 Thanks! Murphy's Oil Soap works well mixed with warm water and use a sponge to get off the top layers of dirt and grime.
@tfusilier44 thank you. I admire your work.
@@GenerationKill001It works really good, and isn't too harsh on the wood. I usually use 0000 steel wool with it.
Im looking forward to your video on the prestigious wood stock. I just got mine.
@@johnp9402 should start up on that soon over the winter. Plan to fit the butt stocks first then the forends. The K98 wood is already fitted just have to keep finishing the wood with raw linseed oil.
@tfusilier44 yeah I've been reading some stuff about the bedding methods. I'm hoping that part will take minimal work.
Looking better
RTI will never get a penny out of me.
why? just get hand select bore I've never gotten a bad gun from them because of it
I don't even hand select and I'm 13 for 15 on getting good bores. The 2 that were only fair, were advertised as such. More for me I guess.
@@jarodcrazyindian that's crazy luck
@imperialhonorguard1483 For sure, especially regarding all the RYI horror stories. Fingers crossed 🤞 my luck holds.
@@jarodcrazyindian I got a K31 without hand select because it's a safe bet
Great video. We can't get the RTI rifles here in Australia, but I guess the compensating factor is that we have lots of SMLEs around. It seems that there a quite a few "unsporterizing" projects going on as well, in addition to the re-chambering back to .303 from .303-25. For a while, at least here in NSW it was illegal to have military-calibre rifles in private ownership, except for crocodile hunters and farmers, so lots of SMLEs were rechambered to .303-25.
The c grades they have right now without bolts or mags seem to be a great buy at a hundred bucks. The two i got have surprisingly decent bores.
I missed out on the no1s. I got a no4 instead but it is missing a handguard, the magazine is open and I believe the muzzle is bad but there is a lot of bright rifling. It is another Fazakerley.
Great video and good job at cleaning it up. Looks real nice. I picked up one of these two. It was pretty happy with it. Just a lot of rust. Gotta keep cleaning it.
@@Wicked505 thanks! I'll eventually have to work on the forend a bit but turned out well.
@@tfusilier44 I think these are a pretty good deal for 150. Mine came really nice and a great bore and it was Iraqi marked. The chamber was just really rusty. I fired one round and I couldn’t get the case out. Had to ram rod it try to polish it up some more.
@@Wicked505 I usually get an AR chamber brush attached to a cleaning rod and hook it up to a drill and run it through the chamber.
@@tfusilier44Same 🍻
Looks great
Nice deal and another great clean up job. We will look back fondly at these days of 'fix-er uppers' being available. Nice work.
@@MidwesternFC thanks! Should have more of these kinds of videos out soon
I wish i had gotten one of these. Such a good deal.
@@karlhoffman1985 Yeah the price point was pretty solid.
The 1918 & 1936 BSA's have Iraqi disks.
I also got a DOT 45 , missing handguard witch I have , the receiver and Barre both have Waffenhaumpts still cleaning the Barrel , I am Happy with it
They leak gas like crazy. Breech is no longer designed to use paper and favors the brass cases.
What is the current price?
I’ve purchased a Royal tiger no4 mk1 B - Grade hand select and unfortunately got a shot out barrel . In the future should I ask look into a “original condition” one for a better chance of a shooter? Or should I send it back if the barrel is shot out ?
@@davidjenschke631 id suggest getting a hand select bore if you want a good bore. Otherwise I'd save up for one of their individual listings or go on an auction site.
But if I purchase a hand select bore and then look and see it isn’t a good bore, would they allow me to return it for a better bore if it had no rifling ?
@@davidjenschke631 id imagine so, but I don't work for RTI so I'm not sure what their standards are for a hand select bore. Id hope they clean and gauge them for the price they ask. I've been pretty lucky with bores so far but Ethiopian cache Enfields are gonna be a gamble.
Got one myself. IMO, you need to immediately send it to a gunsmith that specializes in these guns, to work on the action. Otherwise, you will experience a lot of gas escaping the block breech. This will cause black powder debris to build up rather quickly and by the time you get to shot 5, it will be very difficult to open and close the breech. I used Larry Flees. He can be found on the internet. Good luck. Nice gun.
@@noapologizes2018 thanks for the tip!
Nice rifle. Now you gotta do a video on making paper cartridges. Your doing reenactments with it?
@@johnp9402 Yup joining a 2nd USSS group.
@@tfusilier44 oh that's cool. I didn't know they did that in our area. Thanks for the M95 btw, as usual your b grades are better than the a grades I get lol.
Probably that little wrench Is the nipple wrench. Hopefully.
@@rev.jeremy2017 I figured out it's something for taking apart the block, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.

I’m see these under 800. Pretty tempting
I would pick the one that your going to re blue. New stock with new looking metal 👍. I did confirm with them the butts are all the "long" length.
Nice, WB marked so its an earlier one.
The M1903 is such a beautiful looking rifle!👌🏻
Well done! I got one from CMP too. It spent the last part of it’s life at a VFW post.
nice
Thats a beauty and the price is right. Thanks 44 great as always.
Very nice 1903 , from the video it looked pretty clean . I just purchased a Springfield 1903 , dated March 1919 , should be here in a week or so
I went from not having a single M1903 to having 4 of them in the course of one year. The CMP got all my money 😅
The CMP is good at that 😂
