Have they checked the “step flashing” or baby tins? This is the metal that goes under the siding and many times is reused among roofers and if there’s a gap or missed a tin you create a pocket.. You’ll have to pop the siding above the roof linez

@@TotalRoofing1985 They said they checked the flashing, they're actually the same company that installed the roof in 2020. They pulled the siding off and thought it needed more taping/sealing around the window that's near there but that didn't stop the leak either. Although their water hose test passed but when it rains it leaks. It leaks in the same spot where the roof meets the wall of the house, which is right below the edge of a window as well but they checked the window and it's good. I watched a video that mentioned sealing the J-channel (?) between the siding and window and I'm going to ask the guy if he has considered that when I talk to them tomorrow. Thanks.

@@bev7236could be sealed “weep hole”. Windows good but possibly the weep hole is plugged causing water to reverse and leak.

@@TotalRoofing1985 Ok, I will write that down to have them check too. I wish I could get up there because I want this fixed already, been leaking since early May. They wouldn't get back to me today, I just hope they do tomorrow.

@@TotalRoofing1985 Just to let you know, they think they found the problem today. The architectural arch above the window was very wet behind it when they went to remove it and it was what looked like cork board - they simply replaced it with siding and they added flashing to the top and side of the window since there was none. We'll see in the next rain and hopefully the leak is fixed.

We are sorry to hear this! Where are you located at? We arrive Chicago and Northwest Indiana. We do financing and insurance claims which may help offset or minimize out of pocket?

The GAF Line has "Slateline" Shingles which are another asphalt product similar to slate. However, that product does vary on state/location. What state are you looking to build?

@@kbsanders yes. I got my new roof 3 summers ago. I chose the Brownwood then painted my shutters a brown color to match. My brick is close to the color of this house (the Chicago “used” brick). It looks so good!

Great question. We advised the home owner to do so, however they didn't want us to "touch their siding" other than baby tin/flashing. This roof was completed in early 00's and there wasn't much product literature that made them want us to do I&W.

Total Roofing & Construction Services Inc. Thats all you can do is educate the homeowner and let them make the decision as they are the one paying other than that great job. Keep on roofing!!

However, they got a big bill from the suppliers too! lol
