This may be hard for you to receive as I'm sure you view it as an integral part of your love story and am almost certain it's not the first time its been shared with you. But I would be failing as a sibling in the faith if I kept silent. Yoga is not of God. It is not exercise, it is not "just stretching," it is worship. Psalm 81:9 "There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god." 2 Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" Yoga means union or to yoke. Its intention is to connect you with a other spiritual powers. But if we're saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, why are we inviting other things to occupy the Lord's temple? Worship is spiritual and has consequences. Our very participation in it is considered agreement, it validates the transaction. Some try to claim because that's not what they're doing it for, somehow that exempts them from the negative effects, but that's like someone smoking a cigarette saying the poisons missing their lungs because they want it to. God is a Spirit. He created spiritual law and spiritual law IS reality. The same reality of sticking your hand in fire and getting burned. In our Heavenly Father's eyes, it is viewed as unquestionable and unchanging as the physical reality of fire is to us. You will never be able to separate the religion of Yoga from its roots, literally outlined in the 'sacred' texts of Hinduism. This cannot be ignored simply because people wish to employ it a certain way. A way the world has deliberately lied about to compromise unsuspecting people. The root is the fruit. Luke 6:43-44 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. James 3:11-12 "Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh." Its root is Hinduism. It was divined knowledge, but it wasn't taken from our God. The same is true with the Enneagram divined via automatic writing, which is another cancer that has metastasized within the church. This falls into the territory of occult, witchcraft, and worship of other gods. I can't impress upon you enough how much God is NOT playing around with that stuff in His people. As someone who was SEVERLY chastised because I attempted to persist in ignorance, you do not want to have the charges of adultery (unfaithfulness to God) or divination laid at your feet. But remember our Lord chastises those He loves. [Hebrews 12:6] No matter what benefits you think you're getting from this practice. The consequences and wages of sin remain the same. You must repent and stop engaging in this false worship rebranded as exercise. I'm no different, I had participated and needed to repent of this too. And until He had me begin to correct others, I didn't realize how very upset He was and is by this infiltration into His body. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I promise there are still plenty of healthful exercises and regular stretching (not poses) that are beneficial and won't spiritually jeopardize you. There are many people who meet their spouse before they're saved, or during a season where they were completely backslidden, that does not mean any of the fornication, shacking up or whatever other sin occurred during that time was blessed or ok with God. Past seasons of sin no matter when they occurred still require repentance.
