God no. I can’t abide that song. Sorry.
Haha, fair enough! What would you want to play instead?
Out of curiosity, I recorded the 1st test of both pedals from this video using the loopback feature of my audio interface, and I lined up those 2 and flip the phase on one (this is a null test), there's an audible audio. The result is there's a sound, not completely silence/zero. So, there might be some difference on both, even if it's minimal. You can also try it (do the null test).
Wow!! I’ll check that out, very curious. What audio interface do you have?
@@GuitarPracticeHub I use Steinberg UR22C that has loopback feature but any other interface with loopback will do (or just grab the audio from youtube and compare it)
Brillant, made me laugh!
That's great to hear! I think it's good to have fun and a bit of a laugh generally. Especially when learning stuff on guitar.
Nice video. Thank you
My pleasure, thanks for your comment , you're welcome 🎸
I think that's all the chords there are!
Ha! How are you going with the song?? Are you better with some chords than others?
can u do the finger picking version
Leave it with me mate, I've put it on the list and will get around to it.
@@GuitarPracticeHub cheers
Yes! Thanks, am having to go try this one out 😂
Awesome, its a great song and a must have in your repertoire. Especially the bridge section with it's nice 7th chords Thanks for the comment.
EXCELLENT Thank you so much!
No worries, glad you enjoyed the video and it helps with your playing 👍🏼
Very cool !!
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Absolutely love your style of teaching - like having a teacher in the room with me. Please keep adding more songs.
Thanks, that's great to hear! Yes, got that all in the pipeline. What are some songs that you'd like me to cover?
Thanks
Hi Derek, thanks so much mate! I’m glad you’ve gotten some value from this video and song lesson! How are you going with it?
There is a difference! I used SD-1 pedals for years! Most will not notice :) the older models, without the SMD stuff would suffer from some tone suck and. Something called the ghost issue :) whatever it was called! You basically could hear the drive sound still with the pedal off but it was so low! nobody would really notice or care! that’s all been corrected with the modern versions! Putting that all aside, they all sound more or less the same! Just very slight differences that most won’t care about! Especially an audience :) I have heard the modern version have a very slight bit more bass? I actually used my pedals with a GE-7! Didn’t matter :) shape the sound
That GE-7 is so versatile!! Thanks for your comment :)
Maybe is just me but the anniversary one has a sparkle that the original doesn’t 😂
Haha, yes it does! 🤣
Almost any time that I would pick up someone's guitar over the years (not having been a guitar player at the time) this is the song I would play. I discovered it unintentionally by messing around with the guitar. Same key but only the chorus. I also changed the words. So mine has nothing to do with being in a desert on a horse with no name. lol i changed it to "I've been baptized in Jesus' name... it felt good to get out of my pain...In the water you can forget all your shame... cause there ain't no one to bring it up again....oh, la, la....." ;)
Hi Joy, thanks so much for that story! Great to hear and I love your lyrics! How long have you been playing for now? Do you come up with many of your own songs?
@@GuitarPracticeHub Well, actually.... I'm only now getting serious with it. Before, I would just play my "go-to" songs, and hmmmm... and learned to pick a bit of "dueling banjos" at one time. lol So, I've been playing the guitar seriously now for about a week! lol (more like breaking in my fingertips though... :D ) I do play piano as well (which helps. with understanding. not with breaking in the fingertips!) I do actually have other songs- lots! (how kind of you to ask!) Mostly praise songs, but also some positive songs/ fun tunes, "cool vibey" songs, and kid songs, etc. (Now to get them off of my phone... lol) How kind of you to ask! Thank you as you've already helped me with finger placement (with a different video of yours). Thank you so much for even asking! God bless you! :)

Hi Ken, glad you enjoyed the video. What other songs would you like to play?
It’ll be me by Exile…Appreciate it if you would add that to your list sometime. Best. Ken. Love your videos
@@Malagashman No worries Ken, leave it with me and I'll get to it hopefully soon! Just settling in at home with a newborn baby boy, so my spare time is trying to catch up on sleep, haha. Thanks so much for the feedback!
Good stuff my man… thank you. It’s the way forward.
Thanks Mike! How do you go with the barre chords? Smooth and steady??
Hiya.. thank you, yes. This sequence is going ok. The A to F#minor appears in Pretty Woman which i REALLY ought to have down perfectly by now. It happens on a good day! My current struggle is A minor to barre F to open G… (Have You Ever Seen The Rain). I’m clearly making heavier weather of it than I should.
@@MikeSmith-ow4kz Hey Mike, thanks for letting me know. I love you get the chord change going on Pretty Woman "on a good day", haha. Just strap in and keep going!! Leave it with me and I'll get to a video on the Creedence song. Cheers mate :)

good stuff mate✌😎🤘 By the way the horses name was Frank 🤣🤣
Thanks mate! Frank eh? If it was a horse in a spaghetti western would he be called Franco?? 🤣
@@GuitarPracticeHub Now this bits true...the original name of the song was Desert Song ,then they changed it to Horse With No Name in 1972 and it became a hit.
@@neilmartin7564 I didn’t know that. A Horse With No Name sounds better. I also feel like I’d like to have you on my team at music trivia, cheers Neil! 😀

Hi mate, thanks for the feedback! Glad to har it helped you! Yes, I agree and have got plans to make more like this very soon! (Just having a new baby here at home and waiting for the dust to settle a little bit 😁) Are there any songs that you'd like me to go through? Thanks again.
Brilliant tuition for this 67yr old starter
Hi mate, thanks for the feedback! So good to hear that you've started on the guitar!! Did you ever play when you were younger or are you brand new?? How's it been going so far? It's a great instrument and I hope you find the videos helpful!
I never played any instrument other than the bloody recorder we had to massacre when starting school years! However I have always loved music and maybe should have entered air guitar comps when in my teens? Now I am retired with plenty of time to practice I have purchased a PRS SE CE 24 and I will dispel my wife's scepticism by mastering my beloved instrument and playing three blind mice by the end of the year 😀
@@MJWebber-rh9wm that’s awesome!! Haha, don’t stop at 3 Blind Mice, throw in some Hot Cross Buns and you’re wife will be swooning! Nice guitar by the way. 👍🏼

Ha, yes there's a whole heap of tunes in there really!
Amazing job being able to teach even me Keep up the great work
Thanks mate! So glad to hear that it's helped you out! Anything else you want to learn?
It’s that Am to F THING!
Hi mate, what thing in particular?? Thanks.
Just changing Am to F… Actually changing from any open chord to a barre chord. By the by, your channel provides an excellent service to all us eternal beginners! Thank you. 🍺
@@MikeSmith-ow4kz Thanks for your reply! Persistence is our friend here, so happy to hear your finding the videos helpful! Is there anything in particular that you'd like a practice session video on? Maybe changing between barre chords and open chords? Cheers..
Exactement! Open chords to barre chords.. that’s the one. I’m looking forward to it already…

Hahaha, only one way to find out!
I've been playing the Cadd9 for years instead of the Cmaj and this vid makes me feel a bit less ashamed for taking this short cut. To my ear, its always sounded good and I just went with it. So much easier, especially if you're singing the song
Hey, thanks for the comment! There's no shame and shortcuts here, it's all harmony and playing the way you like is good!! It's a great extension of a regular C major chord, so no worries :)
It's the same, but I appreciate comparison videos like this to help us!
