'Frankenstein: A New Musical' Animatic: "An Angel's Embrace"
Since my last animatic to the Frankenstein Musical has garnered such attraction and positive reception, I decided I'd go for another song to animate to!
This song takes place after the point in the musical where the Monster (or Adam, as he refers to himself in the book) vows revenge against Victor Frankenstein, since Victor killed the Adam's bride as soon as he brought her to life (see "Another like Him" in the musical cast recording).
The interesting thing about this iteration of the story, however, is that it leaves Adam's true motivations up to interpretation by the audience. Instead of just going straight for killing Victor's bride, Elizabeth, he has an interaction with her that suggests him possibly reconsidering his original intentions, when Elizabeth is the first person he's ever encountered NOT to look upon him only with horror and revulsion.
It's a part of the musical where Adam suddenly becomes more sympathetic after the line of bloodshed that he's left at this point in the story-and simultaneously, is also the point where that sympathy is suddenly lost all over again!
This video is made strictly as a passion project. This video is not sponsored and was made for non-profit purposes. I do not own the rights to the music.

DISCLAIMER: This video is not sponsored. It was made strictly as a passion project for non-profit purposes, as I do not own the rights to the music, and the video contains some mild R-rated imagery. As this is a special occasion both for this time of year (and me having just surpassed the 100-subscriber mark), I decided to get into the Halloween spirit by jumping aboard the bandwagon of animati...

'Footprints on the Sand' Animatic-The Prince of Egypt Musical
มุมมอง 6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
It took longer for me to complete than I expected, but I finally got it completed (just as I reached 25 subscribers on my channel). After completing my series of HoND animatics, I decided to go create one for a recently-run stage musical for another one of my favorite animated movies (which ironically features one of the same songwriters)! There are still a lot of people who aren't aware of the...
'Top of the World Reprise' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my last HoND animatic (as I do have other projects in mind, for future musical animatics). It is one of the most tragic moments from the musical (which, if you weren't already aware, doesn't end the way the animated film does). So I hope you all have tissues handy! In a way, it's rather befitting to come out just a year after the roof to Notre Dame's buttresses was burned down. Despite ...
'In a Place of Miracles' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 21K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the only HoND animatic that I made this year-as it was made by request from Florica Anderson, one of my subscribers. (Keep in mind, this doesn't mean I'm going to heed to every and any request that comes my way.) I had an overall good time re-acquainting myself with the creatively fun (as well as painfully tedious) process of making these-to say nothing of the problems that can arise ou...
'Esmerelda' Animatic 2nd Part (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 26K4 ปีที่แล้ว
For those unfamiliar with the musical version of Disney's Hunchback and need context, this part of the song takes place just after Phoebus is discharged of his duties as a soldier for refusing to carry out Frollo's orders, and Esmerelda jumps out from the crowd to defend him. In a twist that alludes to the original novel, Frollo gets a hold of Esmerelda's dagger, stabs Phoebus in a mad rage, an...
'Esmerelda' Animatic 1st Part (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 13K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This animatic was made well before the tragic fire that broke out on Notre Dame. I do not mean to be insensitive to such a sad event that shook the lives of millions of people, by posting it by the same month only one year after it occurred. I kindly ask that nobody make tasteless jokes in my comments section. For the record, I'm still cautiously open-minded to see what Disney has in store for ...
'Top of the World' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 19K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Of all the 'Hunchback' animatics I've made, this one is admittedly my weakest. I had several technical problems with my computer while making this (as well as maybe a few drawings), which meant I had to take a few technical shortcuts here and there to save storage space, and it does unfortunately show in the final product. But I was still strongly motivated to make it because this song is one o...
'Flight Into Egypt' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 19K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This was the first animatic that I conceptualized upon listening to the musical cast recording, as I liked the idea of taking up the challenge to think upon how a song like this could be filmed while ascribing to the concept of the voices of Notre Dame all being in Quasimodo's mind (and the most that we could get to see of any of it moving might be an almost psychedelic stained glass window seq...
Frollo and Jehan 'Bells of Notre Dame' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)
มุมมอง 20K4 ปีที่แล้ว
For those of you who are familiar with the 1996 animated film but not it's stage counterpart, that version paints Frollo in a different (and a bit more sympathetic) light. Claude Frollo adheres closer to his book counterpart, where he starts out adopted into Notre Dame and eventually arises to become the archdeacon, while his profligate brother, Jehan, gets into trouble with the church and is e...

This song was so moving you can really feel Quasimodo's emotions.
This is true...
I'm surprised nobody's called out how Hugo, Victor, and Laverne are all snuck in among the gargoyle "chorus" Yes, I am aware they're based on specific carvings in the cathedral, but this animatic puts them in such focus that I can't see it as anything but homage.
I certainly intended to include them as homage to the movie...and some watchers HAVE noticed them snuck into some of my other animatics, like "Top of the World".
@jacobbelow Ahhh. Haven't seen all your Hunchback animatics yet, see.
See, this is why i hate disney for making frollo the "being bad is cool" representation in villain history (or at least thats what ive researched about him
The [camera] direction was amazing! You really made use of the prison space, and the directing of the [actor's] movements really captured the emotion. Especially when they're kneeling in the moonlight. And the [camera] panning out into the night, zooming in on the moon, almost brought a tear to my eye. This was truly beautiful. EDIT: Also, the emotions were so good. Their resolute sadness as they "wish upon the moon" and then the passionate cry for "change [to] come" was astounding. Excellent execution
I’ve seen recordings of stage performances but it wasn’t until seeing this connected to the animation (him being chained up) that the frustration and anger really hit for me 😭 beautifully done
This is so well done this should have been in the movie you were really a talented artist
QUICK UPDATE: I originally uploaded the video with an age restriction due to some of the graphic imagery. I was uncertain about how it would go over with TH-cam's guidelines, but recently, I decided to try lifting the restriction to make it more accessible to some people, and maybe increase its viewership.
Things look tiny and friendly and fair Seen from the top of the world <3 ooh... that's means soo much
Hmm interesting
Beautiful art style, love the uniqueness
Better than anything Jorge could do with Epic. He deserves not nearly as much praise. THIS is actual art, real skill
Jorge is not an artist for Epic, he is the composer. And I’m not a fan of people who compare any artist, composer or otherwise who start out on TikTok unfavorably to composers who have more experience on Broadway.
This was so well done??? 💛✨🌟 So cinematic in how you’ve composed the scenes and actions and used color. Thank you for sharing!
Amazingly done!! 💛 I love how poetically you matched the imagery of the lyrics!
WHAT. THIS IS INCREDIBLE?

I wonder what parts they'd keep from the musical and movie if it ever gets remade. I feel like originally, Frollo and Esmeralda would've had that fight in the movie, but kept the whole " I'm in love with you, so if you don't marry me or something, I'll just burn you right now" thing for the execution scene. And have Esmeralda live through it please, and you could keep the songs from the show here, but I'm not sure they'd include the brother thing..
Esmeralda … yes I… I… the… two.. us.. sitting…
The… two… of… sitting…
Wish it was in the movie.🥲
There's something to be said about the juxtaposition of "Adam" killing Henry and the Bride coming to life.
It really is when you think about it. And considering the track that follows is Victor panicking at what he had done in creating a bride for his creation that had murdered his best friend...and in turn killing the bride in a desperate attempt to avoid any further damage. They both retort to each other: "What have you done?! You've murdered her!" "YOU are the murderer!" Both Victor and "Adam" are completely at fault in this scenario...especially since Henry's death seems to be the result of him developing an impulse to kill anything he feels poses as a potential threat to the sense of future happiness that he was so desperate to have (considering that Henry was about to expose the Bride and bring her to an end)!
@@jacobbelow Victory Frankenstein may be the protagonist of our story, but he is NOT a good man. He will, if the book is any indication, do anything he can to avoid negative repercussions.
@@shadowldrago Absolutely! In fact, another one of my favorite songs from the musical, "The Coming of the Dawn", is Victor reflecting on how he brought all his suffering upon himself AND his family (and by further extent the creature), by continuously acting upon his own self-interest.
@@jacobbelow Self awareness from Victor Frankenstein? Damn. Never thought I'd see the day.
Quasimodo's part in this song is always so heartbreaking to me. You've done such an amazing job! I've been loving all of your Hunchback musical animatics! ❤
Thank-you so much! That warms my hear to hear!
this is so sad pheobus and esmeralda have found love with each other and frollo is taking that away not only that you can see fear and sadness on esmeralda face she trying to have brave face but she can't but okay sometimes you just have to let it all out even pheobus doing it too, and how both of them wish for the same thing and comforting each other in this scene know they will soon be tore apart
Good animatic.
A tropical fruit sent me to watch and listen to this and I'm so thankful for that
Tony Jay would be so proud…
The Late Tony Jay Better Known As Judge Frollo from the movie Heartbreaking
Does Claude genuinely cared for his brother?
I think he did. In his own, very Catholic way, which wasn't the best way, but... he did care.
MY FAVORITE MUSICAL EVER THIS IS SPECTACULAR AMQZING OMG OMG
“… and the hunchback looked his master in his piercing eyes… and for the very first time in his life.. he… told… a… lie…”
The song says Quasimodo has “one human eye,” but you animated him with two eyes.
Quasimoto doesn't actually have 1 eye its a figure of speech
This was lovely!! It captures the feeling the stage show provided. Thank you so much ❤
Will you do also the animatic of the finale please?
I did this musical and this is making me miss it more!!!
It still 2023
i love this song and i love the ending when i first heard the high notes it was so beautiful i had no words ❤
ARE WE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THE STATUE "CRYING" AT 2:25??? Fr though, this is excellent!!!
Loved this. ❤
Animate every song form this musical!
I've watched this so many times. My favorite song from my favorite musical, done perfectly. The part where all 3 of them are singing still gives me chills. Amazing job!
Thank-you so SO much for the praises!
This is incredible-- what can I say that hasn't already been said! I wish this musical was more popular, but you did it justice!
Why thank-you! I agree, it is a musical that does deserve more attention.
Disney if your gonna do a live action remake for the hunchback of notre dame take notes for the musical Broadway version
Hunchback is one of the few Disney animated movies that could make a good live action movie as it's very grounded and live action could allow for the darker elements of the story to be brought to the forefront (not to say animation can't be used in that way it's just Disney doesn't do that.) The problem, like with almost (if not all) live action adaptations is that they have no creativity in the way they're filmed, nothing is staged interestingly, nothing is light interestingly, no actor is directed in a way that can get a truly great performance. Even directors who have done good work in the past seem to have all of their creativity crushed when doing a live action adaptation.
I forgot the song Esmeralda isn't in the film because it's so good so thank you for bringing it to life!
we have to stop frollo get ever messenger i need ever templar knight to aid me against judge claude frollo
The emotion!! The action!!The movement around the space!!! THE ENDING?!! WOW!!! This kills!!!!
And another masterpiece! When I saw another Frankenstein animatic by you, I knew I HAD to check it out, and I was not disappointed.
Thank-you once again! And I'm so glad that my animatics got your inspired to read the novel yourself! It's a great, fascinating read! Rightfully considered a classic!
I’d say it’s flawless, but that’s not nearly enough to describe how AMAZING this is! Adam’s eyes, the realistic art style, the intensity, the process of creating a monster, ALL FLAWLESS!
Thank-you! Your praises mean so much to me!
@@jacobbelow Not as much as this video means to me. I read Frankenstein today, and it is already my favorite book of all time, and all because your video gave me the resolve to read it. Thank you.
