Does this improve dribbling and and zig zag dribble like messi?
This can definitely help you improve your simple cutting, dribbling, and change of direction like Messi! However, like I said in the video, applying these learned mechanics into the game requires other less straight forward skills like situational awareness and decision making (when and and where to apply these dribbles)

Is it fine to use ankle weights for these?
Although adding weights can improve some strength and muscle endurance, it reduces the functional movement and quick changes of direction during these particular drills that are necessary for footballers. We personally have never used them for these drills. Adding weights can also compromise form and increase strain on joints. So if you do use them, it’s ideal to have some supervision and to do it sparingly. Thanks for the question and hope this helps!
