Hallicrafters SR-160 VFO critical component replacement to decrease drift. Two of the caps need to be ordered from Surplus Sales of Nebraska.
Noise on 160 meters.
มุมมอง 305 ปีที่แล้ว
I have a continuous [24/7] noise starting on about 1722 KHz and going up to over 3 Mhz. Tick tick tick tick about 3 or 4 per sec. It is not from my house. I need a good antenna to detect it. A piece of wire will not work. I should have used a stylist rather then my finger. Any ideas what might cause the noise ?

I am not getting the output that the SB-102 manual shows on page 142. The troth is not flat at all. I used 2000 ohm resistors on the input and output of the filter. Can anyone tell me how to set the sweep up for a better [more accurate] output on the OScope ? I also seem to have a lot of noise on the signal as the trace is broad or wide, not like a sharp pencil trace. Just trying to learn. Than...
Heathkit HW-22A 40 meter mono-bander Transceiver

Transmits and receives from 7.2 - 7.3 Mhz SSB only. It is capable of both USB and LSB operation. It has a VOX position. The VFO will go a little lower than 7.2 - maybe 7.188
Kenwood TS 511S with Microphonic sound

I think this is a Microphonic sound - usually due to a loose element in a vacuum tube.

Back in the day, when I was in high school, I bought a brand new FTdx570. I made hundreds of great contacts with it. The bands were usually full of activity. To this day I regret that I ever sold it.
I had a Hallicrafters SR-150. Was a very good radio. Wish I still had it. Want to find one locally.
Ze Buceta!!!
i wanna bay Tubs 6KD6....meaby you have for sale?
I do not have any 6KD6 for sale. Thanks for your interest. Best in finding those tubes..
Ebay ...
My husband saw your FTDX- 570 transceiver in this video and now he can't sleep without it. Help! Do you still have it?
been using mine tonight ) WB5MZO
very nice and the inverter is great WB5MZO
Is this guy already sold?
Yes it is sold. Thanks for your interest in the video.
Thanks for the video. Just picked up one in good condition and I’ll recap. Did you end up replacing any resistors?
I appreciated your video. It was very helpful in identiffying the small battery and your solution. Now I need a schematic as I can see one item, probably a resistor that is burnt and not identifiable. Any chance that you might copy the schematic and send it to me? I have looked for a manual but was not able to find one. proinwv at gmail dot com
very nice looking rig!
is just a reseving tube noting serious
These old radios work so much better than most of the fancy rigs of today! Full QSK, the ability to precisely tune your transmitter to the signal you’re listening to (because you can receive and test your transmitter simultaneously), no clattering relays or other distractions, and a full 100 watts if you need it.
What a fine looking radio. It's just a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It's been said a millions times I know but....they just don't make'em like that anymore. The new radios today are great pieces of technology. With a the digital displays all those whistles and bangs takes the mystery out of radio. Also I think people don't experiment as they once did. Thanks for the video and 73... Brian Heilbronn Germany.
Where did you acquire the manuals. I just love the oldie but goodies. Nice video. Thnx
I can not remember except to say - The Internet. Now that you mention it I will go look for mine and be sure I can find it. I replaced the batteries in it recently. You have to use a 12 v and a 3 volt battery at one place. The 3 volt button battery does not last very long. I have also just acquired a Heathkit MM-1. Best to you.
Found the manuals and built the battery pack, 15 VDC, but the meter reads low on all the voltages by 16 - 23 %. The ohms scales aren't responding either, looks like I got my work cut out for me. Maybe a winter project. Thanks for your response... an MM-1, hmmm, maybe I'll get one of those also. Take care.
That radio looks factory fresh. Nice.
+gliderp Thanks. Best in Ham Radio.
Glad for the demonstration , But use a proper sized power meter for checking output.you probably maxxed out the meter swing on your 969.
Where can I find a service manual?
I could not find one on my computer. I am not sure I ever did. Just can not remember. Get a manual of another signal gen like an Eico and the alignment should be very similar. Good luck with your project. Lots of enjoyment.
cadiscase I got it fairly close on the hp 8921a and put BNC's on the front
The Sig Gen is repaired and sold. I have had several of them [various brands] and enjoy repairing them and using them. My favorite Sig Gen is an old military one - Navy. So what Sig Gen do you use?
Did u ever fixed this unit?
