The Big Bend 400
Have you ever wanted to ride (or race) Baja but it's just too far away for you? If so, then the Big Bend 400 might be an option.
I crafted a 200-mile dual sport adventure route in the Big Bend region of Texas and then decided to ride two loops, non-stop, in less than 24 hours, for a total of 400 miles. That's the Big Bend 400.

How Fast Will A CRF300L Rally Cruise?
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the first questions potential buyers ask about the Honda CRF300L Rally is how fast will it cruise? Can it cruise down the highway at 75-80 mph all day long? In an effort to answer this question I tested my Rally's cruise speed in the Texas hill country. The results might surprise you.

“My butt hurts” we know the feeling. Great video! Good job editing, the length of video was enough to get a feel for your ride without being so long that it turns boring.

Aw, I was so looking forward to seeing were you ran up to Sean and I on sandy River Rd West. We made the mistake of getting tired and taking a "short cut" through Black Gap. Whew, that was a newby chalenge for sure. You're the MAN Rich

  • @rickalexander3573

Man your're tougher than we are! We did all the roads on the park. I'm not familiar with the Marathon dirt road, and the Terlingua Ranch road though. We rode Old Ore the same direction you did,but River road was the opposite direction for us,and we missed the Mariscal mines because we went Black Gap. I thought like you did that Old Ore was the toughest I was thinking for some reason it would be the easiest. I think the videos I saw on it before we left must of had some heavy editing, and we didn't see a lot of those parts. I also thought the stop with the view of the Chisos basin was the prettiest. We rode each rode seperately on different days. I could not have done that long of a day for sure, but we were riding them on big Adventure bikes. Heck of an accomplishment!

Too bad they didn’t make it a 301 cc to get that extra little bit that it needs for emergency acceleration at speeds around 70. But with modifications above stock it’s more than possible. It’s just more money

Chris, I don't carry passengers so I don't know definitively. My guess is that as long as both people fit on the bike that the Fisher seat will be as comfortable for the passenger as it is for the driver.

I saw this road near me but i looked on google maps and its gated off and has a no trespassing sign.

    • @richardgibbens5854
      @richardgibbens5854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It is not uncommon for county roads in the Texas hill country to have gates on them. The roads are public and you can legally pass through the gate. The no trespassing sign refers to the land on either side of the road. The road itself is public, the land on either side of the road is private.

Where did you wire the power for your GPS if you used the Honda power outlet for the usb ports? Also where did you get that windshield extension. Thanks

I wired the GPS directly into my battery. I bought the windshield extension from ebay for about $25 or so. Search ebay for clip-on windshield extension and you should find at least a dozen or more for sale.

Those ATVs are everywhere on the trails here in Tennessee. Yesterday I was on a small 2 track and there was even a train of 15 2-seaters. I’ve never even seen another dual sport or dirt bike.

I put mine just a little higher on the frame. There are thread that are just the right size from the included bolt. When put in the hole as shown in the video, you can easily just pull it out by hand. And this way, you can have a shorter wire if your mount is on the windshield bar.

I ride a XT700 and my girlfriend rides an XT250. I love and ride them equally! The XT's I mean. The 250 has a much more optimistic speedometer than your CRF, but I find at 100-110 km/h (90-100 on GPS) or 60-65 mph, she's running happily, with an extra morsel left for hills and trucks and morons on the road. Running full throttle may not kill the engine, but it kills the mind. After 30 minutes at any speed your senses adapt to it. But when the bike is maxed out, the next hill will reduce the speed causing mental dissonance. But if you have say 10% power in reserve, you can rush the next hill, or even gear down without over-revving the engine. This improves the sensation of power, controll and the production of ferromones... or something. Something good!! Small bikes rock!!! But it's a bit of a mind game and you should not compete with bigger bikes.... unless it's a dirt road!

Thanks for the video, real good info on this bike. I live in Texas and plan to get this bike as soon as one becomes available in my area. For highway riding around here the top speed on this bike is a little troublesome given that a large number of highways in Texas have a speed limit of 75mph with most folks traveling 8-10mph over that. So running significantly under everyone's pace will need to be taken under consideration and planned for in order to stay as safe as possible if I need to make use of those highways.
