The 46 Plymouth was a hasty update on the 1940 Plymouth. 40 was the first year of that generation. Of course, by February 1942 all civilian production ceased for the duration of World War 2. After the war ended in 1945 car makers scrambled to get civilian production moving. It was 47 or 48 before various companies came out with all new, post-war models.
