BMW R1250RT phone cubby solution
I discuss in detail how to solve the overheating problem of the phone cubby on the R1250 RT.. this solution will also work for most other bikes using a RAM mount on the handlbars

moonies dive bar porch build finale

I decided to power wash a 45 year old porch on my mobile home and find out there is some nice looking wood under there.. That ends up becoming a 5 week rehab to include shoring up the underpinnings, going skyward with a frame to add roller blinds and a sun sail and eventually (this video) adding a permanent pergola style roof. It was an unexpected project but a wonderful surprise.Enjoy!
SS City of Milwaukee Boatel and Ferry

Over Memorial Day Weekend. A few friends and myself did a motorcycle tour around Lake Michigan. Our first stop was an overnight stop in Manistee Mi on our way to the Harley Davison museum via the Lafe Express ferry. The SS Milwaukee is a 1930's rail car ferry that has been turned into a Hotel and museum.. this is my walkthrough and chat... I hope you enjoy it.

I had some leftover video from my trip to GA last month and wanted to put together a video of my ride from 2 Wheels to Mackaysville. Its a 30 mile ride that is slightly technical and not well known...It ends up at the Ocoee river that seperates Tenn from Georgia with a nice restaurant on the river front.

Why not show putting it in the microwave and cooking it ?
@@kennethhamburg8909 so you want to watch a 30-sec of something spinning around inside of a microwave with a light on? How far is our society dropped that you don't trust the fact that I'm telling you. I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds?
Wow! that looks great but when I tried a similar microwave method the egg exploded in the microwave and it took about an hour to clean it up, so never again for me. Although you cant beat microwave scrambled eggs, they're the best.
@@SidBonkers51 well, there might be several reasons for that that you haven't mentioned. If you try to cook them without the water, they will certainly do that. And if you try to heat up the water at the same time you're cooking the egg, it will do that. My method takes care of both of those issues by heating the water at first, putting the egg in the water and then only microwaving for additional 30 seconds. Give it a try. Also try covering the dish that you've got them in with a paper towel folded over or a cover like I show in the video.
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie I get a nice compact, non wispy result with cold tap water and a cold egg. Warm water gave me something that looked like yours.
I gave up I am selling the bike!!
@@amilnoodeling964 sorry to hear that. I'll give you any help you might need
Thanks for showing how to open it while its closed
, I hope it helped.
I need a complete tutorial. Back to BMW for help
Thanks for your video. Initially I thought that your normcore screen had too much channelling, the other one does not have. I have the same normcore puck screen and never too happy with that. There are other puck screens which are better I think. I also noticed that both of the puck screens you used are quite thick. I get better results for the super thin ones. Anyway, good video , keep it on.
very helpful, cheers
Nice. Thank you!
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. An update later maybe? I installed a Garmin using the preinstalled lead. Put the phone in a tank bag which I see you use.
i was doing that, but in 90+ weather, it ends up overheating and shutting down... since the GPS is phone based, i end up losing the connection..
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie I call it the disconnected app. Just crappy engineering. I would love to get the idiots who green lighted the system into a meeting.
For me, $60 will never be worth it for a dang mesh screen. What a slap in the face from B Plus. I bought my lightly used, mint condition 1Zpresso J-Max grinder for $90 and my Breville Bambino for $140. A tiny mesh circle smaller than an oreo is a waste of money at that price 😂😂
i paid $800 for my grinder... so I guess its all relative.
Awesome explanation. Thank you for sharing!
those cap straps are slick!!!
yep,perfect for the boxer. LOL
Great News!
Thanks for sharing. Successful adaptations are always insightful and helpful. Btw Garmin’s XT2 with similar 3D adapter also works very well.
Not trying to be nit picky, but it's critically important to know HOW to use cinderblocks. The way you have the jackstands setting on them, they could easily collapse, as the "bridge" section is not intended to support weight. Always lay them so that the vertical cavities face upward - and then use a heavy board or steel plate on top.
well, i've done it like this several times without incident... but thanks I'll keep your suggestions in mind next time.
Well done, I’m going to do that to my Air Head cheers
excellent, subscribed
Lots better than bungees. Excellent
Thank you for making this helpful video. I am buying and trailering my first R 1250 RT this Tuesday. Do I need to place the bike into "transport mode" if it even has that feature (to prevent the alarm triggering or lights flashing for a silent alarm) ? The seller of the bike does not know. My Harley Softail has a transport mode feature. Thank you for any insights here.
Just dont put the alarm on and you should be fine.. also keep it in gear.
Thx for the video. Was able to confirm that the battery “quick connect” had been disconnected from swollen battery!!!
How do you reset trip odometer?
How do you import to the sat nav without using the app? Can you connect it to your computer and move over that way? I really do not want to use the app
YOu have to unthink the normal process...The PHONE is the SATNAV. The comuputing power of the phone is being used inplace of a traditional navigation system like a garmin or TomTom. think o fthe TFT display. as just that... a display. the phone is the heart of the beast....the routes, the maps, the navigation is all hanlded through the phone app.think of it like when you are wathcing a youtube video on your phone and then cast it to your TV....
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie I get that ie the cell phone. However thats not how I use a SatNav and will use the app. I want to be able to wirelessly move a route or track from my phone to the SatNav or from my computer to SatNav (after being designed on Basecamp or Rever) or to phone to SatNav. I have no interest in my music going via the unit as it is linked to my helmet via my phone. As well, I have a backup mapping, GAIA, on the phone. Now this will be very useful when I rent a bike in the UK as I will be able to bring my gpx tracks or routes on my phone and then transfer it to the rental bike. Finally being completely linked gives more data sharing information to BMW as well as recording speed potentially to law enforcement
@@thecorporategypsy you can turn off the speed recording and turn off the data sync with BMW...and as i have said before, the bikes TFT is not the satnav device, it IS the phone app and the phone... The TFT display is a DISPLAY only. so there is no way to move a file over to the bike wirelessly without the phone because none of this works this way... What you need is a seperate GPS device and carry it with you to use with a ram mount. If aat that point youi are asking me how to export a route you saved on your phone to a 3rd party GPS device then that depends on the GPS device itself. I own a NAV6 and the only way to get a route on it without connecting it to a pc is to import it using a micro SD card. I dont know of any way to WIRELESSLY xfer data off of your phone to a GPS. that wold be a limitationof the GPS itself, inwhihc case, that would depened on themodel and brand of the physical GPS device...I do have a video that shows how to import a route using a micro SD to a Nav 6 th-cam.com/video/3ZtQOQnvLuk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d1H1W253-pGUYj_n. I hope this helps
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie thanks
Hey Kim. Just bought a GT. Can I play Spotify through my connected app, or media?
You made it so easy man, thank you so much
Very helpful and might also add if your using a VPN on your phone might need to turn that off as well.
thank u so much...
Does anyone have the battery dimensions?
Qual o modelo da bateria? Quero trocar, mas preciso comprar a bateria. Pode informar o código dela?
Fantastic!
Thank you
Brilliant no more bungie chords
I now have my wifi auto connect switched to manual only (ie auto connect off) - the bike doesn’t need the wifi connection with an android as it (oddly) connects via BT.
bt is for the headset and audio from the gps...but the maps are transmistted to the bike via wifi due to the amount of data needing to be transferred. I dont know how that would be working with out it.
The BMW Connected app is a piece of junk. I can talk on the phone, sometimes and listen to Media, sometimes. One thing I can’t accomplish is connect and use Navigation. I can’t however, run and use Waze, without the map, but with turn-by-turn directions through my Sena helmet headset, sometimes.
How did you wire it to the Bike?
Directly from the battery? I only used the power
The City of Midland was considered the queen of the Great Lakes during her time. Took a trip on her on one of her last years of service
That is not the Mississippi River, it is the Ohio River between Illinois & Kentucky! Your ass was really lost.
Try a smoked old fashioned & let the smoke imbue for 1-2 minutes.
Done. Rubber seals seal the gap, no leaks. So sick of using ugly straps that get lost.
great! Glad I was able to provide a nicer solution. I like it myself. LOL
Love your ideas! Any chance you can start posting links to the gear you install? Thanks!
So this one doesn't sail anymore It just sits I have been on the SS Badger on Lake Michigan
Yes. It's a museum. It's a rail car ferry as i mentioned in the video. The badger is almost as old.
Cool! Never knew about that. Added to my list
coo, my work here is done! LOL
Very nice! s
Now you need a few drain holes at the bottom of the case to let the water out lol. To be honest, I don't know why you'd drill holes in your motorcycle luggage.
so I dont have to use the unatractive straps to hold them on... Ifyou dont have an old airhead you might not know they tend to fall off.
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie Personally, I'd have kept using the strap and avoided making holes in the cases. It rains all the time over here and the last thing I'd want is wet luggage.
@@deepsmac7784 i guess you missed the part where I used rubber gaskets.....
Jeez be real if you've toured with Krausers you know straps are necessary. This fixes it internally.
@@louisrauzi3872 So you guys know better than the hundreds of thousands of people who tour with these cases without drilling holes in them? I have the updated cases from Hepco. Guess what? They didn't feel the need to make holes in these either. You are introducing a weak point to the structure and letting water in that will soak your stuff, but whatever, this is TH-cam, so it must be right.
Its an awesome system... when it works. I ultimately just bolted up a Zumo xt to a ram mount. Problem solved LOL
Do you have an app for the headset? If so, when you connect to tft screen you may have conflict between the BMW app and the headset app... just a thought.
Thanks greatly appreciated.
Perfect excellent wonderful I connected the piece that was not connected like I said now can you post the video in Reverse please LMFAO once again thank you I'm about to do the plug-in test once I put on the other side but I found a piece that doesn't look like it fits on this side and the other side i.. just finished screwing in
15:13 this is the piece that was never connected to begin with I thank you wholeheartedly for your video sir
I loaded music into the micro SD card. and I inserted the card into the navigator. But it cannot find the music in the internal card. do you have any information?
Well I would probably need more information coming from you than that because I showed you how to do everything in the video from start to finish.
Make sure that you have Mp3 as an option. If not then maybe reformat your sd card and reload your music.
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie I formatted the memory card as FAT32. 64gb cards are not formatted as fat32. That's why I used a 32 GB card. A sufficient capacity to listen to music. problem solved. 👍
@@ersin79 That's a great observation. The size of the card was too large so you had to format it as NTFS and that definitely would have caused the problem. Nice catch!
Nice ride and backstory. I have yet to ride this - I bet it’s fun on an RT.
It's very good, i got a few 41 degree leans. 😊
