This is the raw vision/sound of an interview me and Chris Murray conducted in Sydney in late 2010 for the now-defunct cable show The Movie Club. I posted the footage a few months ago because I've always liked how it showed the low-key Robin Williams behind the sometimes manic persona I'd seen in other interviews. He was a lovely guy, very happy to chat afterwards and was instrumental in arrangi...

Sad that he planned to work as a comic as he aged what was he going through with his disease that he couldn’t continue such a tragic ending to an amazing man

I enjoyed this so much➡for me, the "interview" has the tones & delights of a conversation. Genuine interests all round, thought-provoking, resonance, laughter--kind of like friends, around the kitchen table, catching up w/one who's been away for a long time. I've saved it---for future reference & repeat viewings. Thanks very much for taking the trouble to post/share it❣

These gentlemen provided a GREAT interview space for Robin Williams to be himself...and if HE CHOSE to bring in comedy - but was so low key - it was not required. This is one of his best interviews ever - with 2 people who did not act like sycophants...but 2 guys who appreciated Robin and cared enough to ask well thought out unique questions of this precious man.

This is the first time in an interview that I feel that I'm actually getting a chance to meet the real Robin Williams. In all his other interviews he's constantly performing. Think about it. It's true. It reminds me of an episode on "Love American Style" where Rich Little played an impressionist but wouldn't act like himself in real life. Finally when he's coxed into doing so he tells everybody you won't really like me as I truly am. The joke at the end of the segment was that when he acted natural everyone agreed they preferred him the other way. Immediately he went back to constantly performing in front of others even when not on stage. I honestly feel that's what Robin Williams did throughout his entire life. He preferred himself as the performer not being the person he really was. I really think that very few people got to know the real Robin Williams. Imagine what that can do to your self esteem over the years and how sad and lonely that has to make you feel. It helps to explain the substance abuse and everything else maybe that happened to him in the end. If the the price of fame and success comes at the expense of losing a person's own self identity or self worth, ultimately in the end you have to ask yourself - Is it really worth it? Robin we miss both of you. More than you can ever imagine.

I really like him when he's quiet and reflective. He's a deep thinker and it's appreciated. Jim Carrey talked about the struggle to feel like he always had to be on, and learned to relax later in life. I hope Robin did before we lost him.

I love Robin Williams manic or reflective comic or in a serious film like Dead Poets Society or The Fisher King he could do it all. I realize this was posted several years ago and the comments were about someone still alive. But he, as Tom Petty in a different creative endeavour, will always be missed; they showed us to ourselves; we took Robin Williams portraits of people to heart and made it our own in the same way that listening to a Heartbreakers song was to come face to face with yourself. Neither artist will be forgotten.

Even though it's been almost 7 years, knowing this man is gone honestly still hurts. Being a 90's kid, (born in 1984), he was in so many of my favorite childhood movies. He was a sailor, an eccentric but lovable bat with a radar on the side of head, a genie, a nanny, a boy turned man who can fly. RIP Robin Williams. You are still so sorely missed. #GenieIsFree 🧞‍♂️🧞‍♂️💙💙

Great to see Robin relatively relaxed. A little window into the real person behind the manic mask. Such a shame we lost him so early to the demons that haunted him for decades. Mental health issues can create such a lonely existence for those that suffer, even though their lives are filled with people that love them. Robin lives on in all those wonderful performances he left us with.

I’m here watching this interview only to hear Robin Williams voice and see his face. He is sorely missed by many of his true fans since as far back as “Mork and Mindy” 😭 The only dad I knew when I was a kid was abusive so I wouldn’t claim my stepdad at that time to be my dad. When another kid or someone would ask me who my dad was...My answer would be Robin Williams. He’s the only man at the time that kept me laughing and made me feel safe. Yeah, a man in a television screen kept me feeling safer than I felt living in the home that I was living in. I used to think Jesus was too good to be true, but then later in life He taught me just how true and Real He is and how good it is know Him on a personal level. I pray to get to meet Robin Williams in the Heavens one day. I miss him so much!!! #LAUGHTERISMEDICINETOTHESOULBUTALSOAWAYTOHIDEYOURPAIN 💔🥲🙏🏼💕
