Less perfection! More authenticity!
Living fully despite anxiety and depression 🌈
Hi, I`m Katja, a modern-day nomad living an unconventional life full of travel, self-discovery, creativity, and music.
In the last 10 years, I`ve lived in 4 different countries and traveled about 50 (most of them solo), I`ve worked on a cruise ship, in a hotel, had a career in journalism, trained in the military, became a DJ and finally a TH-camr - all this while battling anxiety and depression.
I`m a multi-passionate person and want to experience everything that makes my heart skip a beat! And that`s a lot of things!
Here, I share my crazy adventures, thoughts from my overthinking mind, stories of my sensitive soul, habits & rituals that tame my depression, my healing journey, and the randomness of everyday life.
I want to show the world you can live a fulfilling life despite personal setbacks! I want to inspire you to be the most authentic self and go out and do everything your heart desires!

Looking For a Property in BULGARIA 🏠 Exploring Rural Area Around Bansko...
My initial intention for visiting Bulgaria was to explore the country especially the rural areas for a potential property purchase. Before making such a big investment I wanted to make sure I even like the country, connect with its culture and see a future there.
Whilst the region around Bansko was never on my house hunting radar I still wanted to better understand the countryside, see some of the villages and get an idea of how life in these areas looks like.
I found a car and drove around some of the villages that locals and expats in Bansko recommended me to visit: Dobrinishte, Eleshnitsa, Banya and Godlevo.

How NOT to Travel Kyoto, Japan ⛩🎎 Is Kyoto Worth Visiting in 2024?
18:12 - A quick note. The average wage in Sofia is indeed €1600 euro. However, that's gross salary. The net salary would be about €1270, which is less than Slovenia (assuming your information is correct).
Bansko. Lots of empty condos and apartments. They overbuilt. Incredible bad planning. But very beautiful Mountain Views. Bulgarian Government is not so beautiful though. They have removed most of Bansko’s native culture and identity.
@@antoniodelrey164 yeah I was wondering what happened with all these empty apartments and hotels. Are they empty even during the ski season? It’s a bit if a shame they built so much, the old town is absolutely stunning with the traditional architecture!
Excellent video, observations and comments. Bansko is for Banski. Too many foreigners and I even mean people from Sofia or other parts of Bulgaria. But the area of Pirin like the rest of Bulgaria is very scenic. Unless you are a citizen of the EU you cannot own land in Bulgaria. You can own a condo or similar but not the land. Beautiful country and people but the government is one of the worst…grocery stores are full but prices are high. Better to eat in a restaurant.
Western European prices. You will get bankrupt and depressed very soon
I myself am a Bulgarian, but I haven't been to Bansko in quite a while, but thanks to your video, I might as well take a trip and enjoy some time there! It has changed quite a lot in a matter of 10 years, wow!
@@BgMasterGames hi, welcome to the channel and thank you for your comment. I imagine there has been a lot of development in Bansko, looking at all the construction sites it’s still growing. I would love to see it in winter time when it’s full of people and all the shops & restaurants are open.
Thank u for your beautiful video. I saw ur comment under a video about kurdistan about how you enjoyed your time in kurdistan as a solo traveler and was truly delighted to see you had posted a video. I was there last year in Sofia, Kazanluk, and Plovdiv. When I was there, I used google map to find good restaurants. In Sofia, I stayed at the HR, and there was a restaurant one street over just about 5 mins walk that served tasty and delicious traditional Bulgarian food. It is called Staria Chinar.
hello kids 🤩 What a nice stranger who give you his car:) This Lidl-thing 11:46 is the same feeling i've always have in foreign countries too 😅 Thanks for taking me to bansko
Thank you for such a big response! Yes, this is a great reach for such a small channel! I appreciate every view and every comment! As this was my first experience and impression of Bulgaria, you might get a sense that I didn’t like the city but actually it’s quite the opposite! By the end of my 4 days I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Is it somewhere I’d want to live? Not really. Would I like to explore it more? Definitely! I have a full series of my trip through Bulgaria coming and you can already watch my videos from staying in Bansko. Thank you again and sending you lots of love! ❤️
I am sorry you didn’t like it! I don’t like it either but there is still lots of hope and opertunities to develop! It has become increasingly more expensive the last two years.
@@leventtchakar4461 hi, thank you for stopping by! I don’t recall ever saying in the video that I don’t like the city. In fact by the time I found that cool local bar and chatted to some locals I really enjoyed it and felt a bit sad to leave the next day. Is it somewhere I would like to live? Did it impress me? No. Not like some other cities (like Budapest). But would I like to explore it more? Definitely! If I do move to Bulgaria then I’ll surely be able to experience it more in detail.
Hi! As a Bulgarian, I wanted to share a bit more about Sofia. Smoking is still quite common here, especially socially, though it’s starting to change with younger generations . If you visit again, don’t miss Shishman Street-it’s full of cool bars, hidden spots, and a great vibe. Bulgarians are known for enjoying life, good drinks, and warm hospitality. You have noticed that many Bulgarians drive expensive cars. It’s true that some people invest heavily in their cars, even if their income doesn’t always match. It’s a bit of a cultural thing here! Sofia’s architecture tells our rich history, from Roman ruins like the Serdica complex to the iconic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and even Soviet-era buildings. Our traditional food-like banitsa, shopska salad, and tarator-is a must-try, and it reflects our diverse heritage. Hope you visit again and explore more of what Bulgaria has to offer!
@@N.Nanova hi, thank you so much for taking the time to write all these recommendations and information, I really appreciate it! As a Balkan I totally understand the culture of smoking and expensive cars, you can see this in many countries around the Balkans but like you said it’s also slowly disappearing. I’m not sure if I walked down Shishman street or not but it was quite difficult for me to find a low key authentic local bar. I need to also explore other neighbourhoods in Sofia but it would be good to do it with a local - something for my next visit 🙃
Must probably 1600 E is the average brut income/before taxes
@@ISPRI2011 oh, so not net income?
@@wherestheparty_ for sure not the average net income!
@@ISPRI2011 this is what google says: The average gross monthly salary in Sofia is around BGN 2.800 (about EUR 1.400), resulting in a net salary (after tax and social contributions) of about BGN 2.200 (EUR 1.000). In the rest of the country, the average gross salary is around BGN 2.000 (about EUR 1.000), but with important regional diversity makes a lot of sense. I thought the tour guide was talking about 1600€ net income which did seem quite high. but this makes the prices (especially of food) very high in Bulgaria.
@@wherestheparty_ The official information as of the summer of 2024 is that the average gross salary in Sofia is 1600 euros, which makes 1250 euros net. Now in 2025 the average salary in Sofia is already 1700 euros, which makes 1320 euros net.

@@wherestheparty_ Yes this is bulgarian folk music, modificated do techno dance.
The Bulgarian rustic architectural style of the buildings in Bansko is NOT "Ottoman" but traditional Balkan type architecture. This style has been existing for many centuries in the Balkans and current day Greece and Turkey and predates the Turk's conquest of Byzantium/Constantinopole/Greece and the rest of Balkans in the 13th and 14th century. The Turks inherited or rather adopted this architectural style in the lands they conquered.

Beautiful insights. Thank you!
Rivers, beaches, lakes and so on in Bulgaria are exclusive public property and everybody by law has free access. They may ask for money if you are fishing or something, but not for eating around the lake. There are more then 250 mountain lakes only in this region and they are all free to visit. Don't pay money to such people or if you pay ask for a ticket. Do you get a ticket for those 10 leva? Probably not.

The buildings you filmed aren't from the communist era. They are old buildings from the beginning of the 20th century. There is an H&M on Vitosha boulevard and all the other chains are in the malls. There's many other chains in streets that you probably didn't pass through Bulgaria has never been the cheapest country in ALL of Europe. Maybe in the EU, yeah but that's not the case. And that's a good thing, people are tired of cheap tourists visiting for that reason. And yes, the average salary in Sofia is over 1600€ nowadays.
the buildings you said were soviet are not, they are pre soviet and modernist, hence no decoration
Our country get to expensive with no added much unique extra value. For several days visit is OK but long term is unsustainable with recent political decisions and where economy is going.

Your experience resonated with me. My husband and I honeymooned in Japan for 3 weeks in October, and had also planned the trip for 5 years with cancelations due to the covid pandemic. We were so excited and had planned everything so extensively. I feel like anything hyped up for so long cannot reach the expectations created, which may have been the first issue. However, Tokyo was uniquely underwhelming and difficult. I was so overstimulated and exhausted by Tokyo. There was no avoiding it there as I could in Nikko, Hiroshima, and even Kyoto. Going down side streets in Japan usually helps, but in Tokyo it just led to more bright, overwhelming and loud displays and crowds. The city was so vast it felt inescapable. It is also very superficial and materialistic feeling compared to other areas we visited. I feel like if I ever went back to Japan, I would not visit Tokyo again. We did everything on our itinerary and had some incredible experiences doing everything we had planned but my primary reflection of the trip is exhaustion
hi, thank you for watching and sharing your experience! yeah, I totally agree - it`s so overstimulating it really takes all the life`s energy out of you just to navigate the city. I feel the same about my next visit to Japan, it will mainly be small town and rural areas. If I knew what I know now, I would plan my first trip very differently although I wouldn`t skip Tokyo, because it is a unique experience and once I got used to it it was actually really fun - it helps that on weekends the streets are much quieter ;)
Thank you for going through that experience so we don’t have to. Too bad it was so terrible. Did those flies bite you because of where you stayed or it’s just something that happens on that island?
Hi, thank you for watching! This was my first ever experience with sand flies and honestly, I don`t know enough about them to be sure if it was just this hostel or the entire island. it`s kinda strange because there wasn`t so much sand there (the beach was a small stone dock) so I`m not sure where they even got me - probably in the hammocks which were above the sand... maybe do some research, as this was 3 years ago, hopefully, they are gone! the island itself is a great place to stay so it would be a shame to miss out 😉 best of luck!
Advance greetings. Happy New Year 2025 🥰. May you spend every day as you wish. May God bless you.
