    I llove your videos and that you speak so openly about being blind .I am also a parent of three and legally blind . What also helps is working with and attending groups with fellow blind or visually impaired persons .Also outreach to diffrent businesses. I appreciate you sharing on youtube this helps me to know that I am not alone in how I feel living with my visual challenges . OK, apparently we need to catch up. When are you moving to Germany? Are you having another baby? What the heck? Anyway, you mentioned that when Rosie is 13 or so you are wondering if you will be embarrassing to her. Yes, you will, because you are her mom, which will of course make you uncool. That would not matter, if you could see or not. All parents are uncalled to teenagers :-) I am sending you a big hug. I want to know more about the new dog.

    • @BlindSingleMom
      @BlindSingleMom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha! No no, I’m not moving to Germany. I don’t really have the qualifications to be able to do that. Rosie is there with her dad for a few years due to naval orders. It’s one heck of an opportunity for her to have, so I let her go. That means I spend half the year over there for my time with her, in three month blocks. It’s complex and presents pretty significant challenges, most of them emotional, but it seems to be working for us so far. We’ll see how this first journey goes. And yes, I am pregnant again. Unexpected and unplanned, and this, too, is presenting its own unique challenges, but it is what it is now I’ve chosen to keep it. I keep forgetting I only broke the news officially with Rosie in an Instagram video. LOL. So, lots of new things. Lots of challenges. But lots of positive things ahead as well, I believe. God is good to me, after all.

    Great video! I am always looking for blind parenting advice in preparation of being a parent in the future. The car seat frame sounds interesting. I wonder if there is something like that but where it turns the car seat into a stroller? Do you know if there is anything like that?

    • @BlindSingleMom
      @BlindSingleMom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The frame kind of does that as it's on wheels. But if you mean something a bit higher off the ground that resembles a stroller, the closest I got when Rosie was younger was using a two in one travel system. What these are are strollers and car seats sold together, and the car seat snaps onto the stroller itself. So it's facing the stroller's back, snapped securely to the stroller itself, and what I did was just snap the car seat handle into the down position and use it to pull the system behind me. It could be clunky at times, but it was really convenient. Even went over speed bumps without issue. Thank you so much for commenting on this. I'm really glad you liked it. I was so low energy I was certain the entire thing would be a flop. It was filmed a few times once technical issues rendered the original footage entirely borked. Thank you so much for your

    Happy birthday! I really appreciate how brave you are to have shared some of these facts. I would love to hear the story about how you met your best friend by accidentally groping her lol. Also, thanks for the shout out. I’d be down to collaborate

    • @BlindSingleMom
      @BlindSingleMom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am trying really hard not to fangirl out just a bit here. LOL! It's not working. We must chat collab ideas! Thank you so much for appreciating what was done here. I didn't actually set out to be quite so personal with it, but it just evolved that way while I was writing them down so I could keep the flow going and the editing a touch easier. But I'm super proud of how it turned out, and while it was a very vulnerable act, posting all this information, I feel as though it's empowered me in a way as well. Like, yes, some of these things are personal and have some stigma attached, but I don't have to be ashamed of any of them, because they've all shaped and me. Some still do. I'm incredibly touched you appreciated the courage it took to post this though, Cayla. It really does mean the world to me. Thank you sooooo much for the birthday wishes and being willing to collab when my subscriber count is sooo far beneath yours. I know Matt said an unspoken rule for many, if not all, TH-camrs was to keep the numbers matching. I'm, quite frankly, honored you'd be willing. Insert squee! Cause your videos are amazing! Oh, and I'm not sure if I mentioned this in a comment I made you, but one of these years! We've got to buy mermaid fins and do a collab video of just totally owning a body of water somewhere. Cause mermaids, Cayla! I know. Fact 51: I am such a child!

    • @CaylawithaC
      @CaylawithaC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sirena Rayleeta Lind lol I am really flattered that someone would fangirl over me. I think what Matt said about the subscriber count is true to an extent, but I think there are exceptions. If a bigger TH-camr comments on your videos and clearly likes your content then I don’t think there is anything wrong with asking them to collab. And we all start out small. I wish someone would have collabed with me when I was starting out

    • @BlindSingleMom
      @BlindSingleMom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cayla with a C See, even this reply is so flattering to me. Especially reading it after all the computer troubles sapping at my energy and making me feel like a flaky TH-camr when the breaking tech means I'm a day late with videos and such. We all do start off small, and I hope one day I can be the one reaching out a hand to a little TH-camr in order to help them grow. Truly, it means the world. How would you like to toss ideas back and forth?

I will say that I see somewhere between Jack and squat, and that usually gets people to laugh and I can explain more. I didn’t try to explain that somewhere between 93 and 95% of the blind population actually do have some usable vision. Someone who is totally blind, is in the huge minority.

      Hahaha! Somewhere between jack and squat. Right? I feel you there. It's such a simple concept for us to grasp, but it's just... surprisingly complex for those who don't generally comprehend vision loss in the slightest.

    Great video. I often wonder what facial expressions look like. Growing up, I was legally blind, having no vision in my right eye, and very poor vision in my left eye. I am now totally blind, and I have always wanted to be able to see facial expressions. I was never able to see them even when I could see. I often wonder if how I feel mirrors my facial expressions. Watching your video really got me thinking about this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      Please forgive this late reply! Thank you for watching this long video and taking the time to comment. You're such a loyal Treasure and I cannot even begin to put words to what it means to me. Facial expressions are fascinating to me. I'm definitely going to do a video on this. Maybe a few because I have a fun idea. I'm just not yet certain how to go about it. But I love reading about them, and being an avid reader, that's how I know, ok this one goes with this emotion. But do I have them? Are they something that can truly be controlled? How, if I have never been able to see expressions, do I have them? How much of them are learned and how much are just a part of being human? Fascinating!

    Wow. Unbelievable. I’m sorry this happened to you. I always want to stand up for myself and tell people when they’ve said or done something inappropriate, but I always freeze in the moment and then it’s too late, so I can definitely relate there

      It was definitely one of those what the hey moments! I'm so honored and touched that you checked out this video! Thank you so, so much! I'm still new to absolutely all of this, so I'm super touched this title was grabby enough to seize the attention! Thank you so much for commenting as well. I truly love interacting.

    I personally identify myself as a blind person. I only have light perception with central vision and that’s it.

      I'm much the same. Perhaps with a touch more vision, but for me, I just don't find the term blind to be offensive. Either way, blind or visually impaired, it does not define me, so it doesn't matter. Thank you so, so much for commenting. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your thoughts.

      Exactly. Blindness is just one of the characteristics that make up a person. It doesn’t define me anymore than being shorter having brown hair.

    Yea first comment again Serena you are on fire this week for your videos I agree with you to saying that I am blind is much easier because I am blind to fun big toes up for the video

    • @BlindSingleMom
      @BlindSingleMom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is easier. And for me, it's just not a huge hangup because it doesn't define who I am either way. Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts again!

      It was that. But the shock and the whole WTF aspect of it was so great, it warred out over mortification. I was just so incredulous, like, did you really just do that? You really did, didn't you? What! The heck!

    The sirens in the background were obviously on their way to rescue a blind person who had fallen off the Eiffel tower! Haha
