In search of the shot. Travelling with a Fuji X-T3 and Sony A7RIV for landscape photography.
มุมมอง 5523 ปีที่แล้ว
Join me as I head to Colorado armed with a Fuji X-T3, Sony A7RIV, GoPro, iPhone and a Polaroid in search of an awesome landscape shot. Travelling with a family (in particular, a 2.5 year old) presents its own challenges but is still worthwhile. In this video I use a Fuji X-T3 with the 23/2.0 and 35/1.4 lens, and the Sony A7RIV with the 20/1.8 and Tamron 28-75 lenses. Music licensed by Musicbed:...
Black and White Street Photography Tips | What Fan Ho can teach us
มุมมอง 46K3 ปีที่แล้ว
For many, street photography is about running around snapping pics of everything you see and applying some LUTS. But how do we really improve? In this video we take a look at the incredible work of Fan Ho - a master of composition and light. Walking around the streets of Hong Kong with an old rolleiflex camera, he shows us that it's the emotion in a picture that counts, not the gear that you ha...

I left you a message | A journey of black and white on the Fuji X-T3
มุมมอง 1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Exploring the splendor of black and white photography on my Fuji X-T3. I'm new to black and white photography but it is a beautiful art form. Perhaps it's nostalgia, perhaps it's the contrast, or the light. Whatever it is, it has an appeal, a draw, a glimpse of simpler times. These certainly aren't Ansel Adams or Henri Cartier-Bresson quality photos but I hope you enjoy this short video as much...
Fuji XF 90mm f2 review | Real-world samples | Crazy sharp

When it comes to taking portraits with the X series of Fuji cameras, the 56 1.2 and the 90mm 2.0 are probably the go-to choices. In this video I take the 90mm f2 out to shoot some family style photos and share the results and my personal opinion of this lens. This lens is crazy sharp and you can definitely take some stunning images with it. #Fuji #fuji90mm Music: Photograph by Cody Fry
Fuji X-T4 vs X-T3 | Should you upgrade? | Answer may not be what you think!
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The X-T4 has made some massive improvements over the X-T3, including IBIS, Improved AutoFocus and a Flippy screen. In this video, I try answer two questions: If you're new to Fuji, should you get the X-T4, or if already have a X-T3 should you upgrade to the X-T4? The X-T4 is evolutionary not revolutionary, which makes it a difficult question as to whether to upgrade. #fuji Music licensed on Mus...

Fuji XF 23mm f2 lens review | Good but does it have a fatal flaw?
มุมมอง 10K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my review of the Fuji XF 23mm F2 R WR lens. 23mm is a very versatile focal length making it suitable for "everyday" photography. This lens does have some odd characteristics when taking photos at close range at f2...one could call it the one fatal flaw of this lens. Are you feeling ok? Surprised by the particularly negative tone of your comment. If you're getting tripped up by the word "street" as a label here, you probably missed the point of the video highlighting an incredible artists work. Attach whatever moniker you want.

    1:20 there is nothing special about this photo. It has been proven that the supposed shadow was actually dodged in place in the lab. This shadow did not exist in real life and the idea that he waited for the decisive moment is incorrect. I was totally disgusted when I found out. There was no decisive moment.

      If your just calling out the maker of this video, fine, but your "I was disgusted" comment shows you're a fool and the comment that " it's been proven" is worse - you're making it sound like the artist was hiding it. Go read up on Fan Ho. We're you also disgusted by Ansel Adams? You're a pretentious jerk.

    This lens doesn't have image stabilization, the lens is a fast prime lens, there are very few primes that have IS, most that do are longer focal lengths, if IS is important your best bet is a zoom lens as the IS feature is more prevalent.

    I sold my first copy of this lens and bought one of the few 27mm lens when that lens was issued. I just bought a new 23mm f/2.0 this month. My reason was the point of view of the 23mm f/2.0 and the depth of field at 5.6 apt settling. I hope the lessons learned using the other lens I own will help with shooting this lens. I have the 16mm f/2.8 (to wide), 35 mm f/2.0 (to long), 27 mm f/2.8 (light weight, tack sharp,fast enough focusing but not the depth of field I want) the goldie locks lens of the bunch.

    Hey LTAL i was wondering what your actually thoughts about using the 35 were in marrekech? did you feel the need to go wider? go tighter? was it just right

    • @lifethroughalens9878
      @lifethroughalens9878 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I forced myself to use one lens for this trip to get out and relax and not worry about switching lenses for every shot. To that end, using just the 35 worked really well. Maybe the 23 would have added an interesting perspective, for example to catch more of the 'noise' and bustle of one of the markets but on balance, I think the 35 was the right choice.

    I have the 16/f2.8 and the 35/f2 and love them for their size and results. I think the 23/f2 would be a great addition, but I’m still on the fence. The haziness at f2 close up is an issue for me - not because I always shoot wide open or close up, but when I want to, I don’t want the lens to hinder my choice to do so. I respect both Omar’s and Gajan’s opinion on it, but I admit I’m in camp Omar… while people say it isn’t a macro, or “you’re not using the lens right” (lol), a lens has a minimal focal distance that - in my opinion, should be decently sharp at all stops. All of my other lenses are decently sharp wide open and at minimal focal distance - and I use three different systems with lots of lenses to choose from. Just my 2 cents…

    Hello, I like the video very much. I have an XT-3 and am looking for a lens with a longer focal length to photograph my 15-month-old son. He can already run very fast and my 35 1.4 often can't keep up with the AF. Would you say from your experience that the 56 1.2 has a fast enough AF for running children? Greetings Sebastian

    • @lifethroughalens9878
      @lifethroughalens9878 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sebastian ... thanks for watching. It's not the best lens for fast moving subjects at least in my experience. I'd say my X-T3 and 56 1.2 is a rather slow focusing system coupled together. That said, memory is cheap so I can fire a bunch of shots and take the keepers. When it locks you get a sublime picture. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it doesn't work with moving subjects, but just probably not the best. I don't know if you live in a place where you can maybe rent the lens to try it out for a few days?

    I haven't yet reproduced the problem that you and Omar describe. 23mm on APS-C is a great field of view for me. When I used to shoot 35mm film, I gravitated to 35mm. A little bit wider than what is considered a "normal" POV. I think it is because I like to see the action of a lens intervening on my subject. Have fun shooting your daughter, warning, they grow up fast.
