Our Family Week 2 The Assignment
We dive into Acts 1:8, where Jesus calls us to be witnesses of His love and power, starting with those closest to us. Jesus invites us to extend the circle of His love, showing us that the gospel isn’t just for some, but for everyone. What is your personal journey of faith and transformation. Think about your own story with Jesus. We’re called not only to talk about Jesus but to live out His love in our everyday actions, especially within our families. How are we witnessing His presence in our lives today?

If only there a phographic negative somewhere!
Amen that’s why The Bible talks so much about giving!!!!!!!
Imagine how things could have been for the Jews of those days had they just obeyed the Lord.
Because they are Rebellious
Show them in the Bible where it says women aren’t supposed to preach to men … it’s in there
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 1 Timothy 2:11-12 NIV Are you looking at just these two verses? Are you taking into account the whole chapter? What about the context of the time they were in? What was happening in the area, and why that would lead to these verses? Check out this article that gives context to the verses. www.umc.org/en/content/commentary-women-in-ministry As The Rev. Joy J. Moore puts it, "Some would say I have no call to witness to this God because I was born female. I respect their right to hold that opinion. But God's grace is too precious to only receive it for myself. God's love is too great to simply claim as mine. And God's holiness is too awesome to experience, and then remain silent."
@@HorizonsChurchLincolnyou are in rebellion to Gods word. You cannot be a pastor no less teaching.
We're supposed to share the good news of Jesus. It's NOT; how can I prove to someone that I am right as a follower of Jesus and they are wrong? That's not it. But we ask, how can I love them and build a relationship with them to allow them to be open about the idea of hearing about the authority of Jesus? And the good news is that Jesus came to save everyone. We don't have to pick and choose who we're going to lead to Jesus because Jesus says everyone is included. God's grace is enough.
When you finally mature as an actual person the same thing happens...
A great parallel, but there are differences.
Permission to speak. From what is said in this video, demanding accountability for the sins they committed in the previous week ; now I'm thinking , God's word says He forgave them if they confessed so why should they be brought to account again? And if they were walking in the light they were cleansed from all sins! I heard someone say that there are people who are of more quality than others in the Body yet the Word says who made to be different than someone else! Now let such people who already disfavour you find out the sin you committed and you will see contempt you will experience from them though God had already forgiven you and is not despising you. I think a poll ought to be made to find out how many suffered , how many were put out of church , how many were left untaught and unchurched because of such things though they would have been helped if The Lord Jesus was on the Earth. I believe it is better to give an opportunity to share their challenges so that they may be helped instead of such practices. But who am I to say such things! And I may not be all correct so as I said, I keep my thoughts to myself! May the Lord make us stand in the day of judgement Amen !
In Pastor Mandy's Full message - th-cam.com/video/tYuaf6SEvMo/w-d-xo.html - You'd get the full context of her talking about small groups - "Life-groups," a small group of people that know each other and trust each other. They walk with each other through life and can share and confront each other to grow closer to God. It's not calling people out, bringing them shame, or judging them, it's about inviting others in to learn and grow together. Having a small group allows us to build each other up to be more Christ-like and share the love of Jesus.
Huh, that's weird cause most people I see teaching or preaching the bible don't know anything but the popular stories and even then not correctly.
Somebody said if you want to know about the bible ask an atheist 😅
Sure, some people who are not Biblical scholars will share the story of Jesus. That doesn't make them unfit to teach. Most people grow when they are in small groups that are learning together, asking questions, and listening. Sometimes, talking to scholars, historians, or others who have studied things deeper is a great way to understand and grow. Sharing Jesus' life and love is more. To quote Rev. Joy Moore, "God's grace is too precious to only receive it for myself. God's love is too great to simply claim as mine. And God's holiness is too awesome to experience, and then remain silent." We learn and grow by coming together in community, asking questions, and asking others who have studied what we want to know about.
Hey I went there!
Neat. Dr. Devney and the staff have been really fun to work along side.
Rest is for the dead. Only the living can see. Kneel to trace picture children. G is an incomplete whole with one square angle drawn in Earth. O is a whole measure. D is a split whole with two square angles drawn in Earth. Sacrificed, Holy measured. If we can see, we are Living. If you can't, you are dead.
Resting as in taking time to be in communion with God. It comes in many forms, through prayer and service to God.
Faith literally is fantasy...
I've heard it said that "Fantasy is an idea we cling to in order to escape reality. Faith is an idea we cling to in order to have that courage to face it."
@HorizonsChurchLincoln which, sounds really neat until you actually dissect the sentence and realize you're saying "I'm clinging to something I can't prove, and is against every law of nature and math that we know, so I won't be scared."
Faith, though; is rooted in the truth and history of people who have documented what will have happened (prophesies), what has happened (prophesies that happened and other historical events), and what will happen (what is yet to come). Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and resurrected on the third day. Jesus Died; multiple early texts say this. Non-Christian texts included. Jesus rose from the dead. There are multiple accounts of his resurrection from the time right after his death. The tomb was empty - They found the tomb empty. The Romans agreed the tomb was empty.
@HorizonsChurchLincoln it's built in paganism. Hence why God didn't exist 3,000 years ago but we have historical evidence of other gods from much further back. It's also why you follow pagan holidays like Christmas (Yule), Easter (Ishtar, celebrating spring) etc. Christ has 0 evidence of existence. Other books that came hundreds of years later mentioning someone they've never met doesn't mean anything.
Christianity has one God. Celebrating holidays like Christmas and Easter are great examples of how people have shared Jesus with others around the world, and they use some of their traditions and stories others know and understand to make it easier for them to understand the story of Jesus. You're welcome to come to your own conclusion. Peace be with you.
Wonder what she means “by including others”.
“My Father’s house has room to spare. If that weren’t the case, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you?” -John 14:2 CEB We come from different backgrounds and varied perspectives. We’ve prepared a space where you are seen and heard; where you are known and belong. Everyone has a seat at God’s table.
I assume you mean His children only, those who have repented of their sins and now believe in Him and are born again.
The invite is for all. Jesus' Story is for all. Welcoming all is the first step, like when Jesus fed the five thousand in Luke 9. "...He welcomed them (the crowd) and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing." Jesus welcomed the crowds and spoke to them. Inviting them in to learn and be healed and then inviting them to choose to follow him(Jesus).
Although it’s a short clip, I disagree that the kingdom of God is feeding and helping others. Sure Christians should and do, it is loving our neighbor. But you don’t have to be a Christian to do those things. The wicked also do those things. The kingdom of God involves repentance and the new birth, as God rules in the hearts of His children. Thats what I’m trying to point out.
Agreed this is just a clip of a whole message. That's a lot of why we share the Welcoming aspects. We invite people in to learn and grow. Knowing in that we develop relationships with them and guide them to develop a relationship with Jesus. To teach them to know and understand that repentance and new birth. It's a journey and a process and I think you understand that well. But you can't have the full journey and conversation in a one minute clip.
Amen

Jesus is God, Jesus is Teacher, Jesus is Radical, Jesus is Messiah, AMEN.
Amen.
And at the same time the bible told us surprisungly that she didn't know what he meant. 😂
I'm unsure what your trying to say, are you commenting on how words can be translated differently depending on context and that sometimes those words need a little more understanding as we learn about the verses in the bible.
No , GOD sent HIS SON to die for us idiots , to give us power over sin , so we will NOT desire sin anymore because HE HATES SIN !!! If or when we do slip and sin , we will immediately realize that we have sinned and will immediately cry out to GOD for forgiveness. That’s what it’s all about.
Jesus as Savior, as the one through whom God has freed us of our sin and has given us the gift of whole life, eternal life, and salvation. Romans 6:23 ESV - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
@@HorizonsChurchLincoln Free as long as you obey HIS rules. Just like a marriage. Two become one BUT if one disrespect the other too many times that marriage IS OVER . Please don’t be fooled and end up in hell. Yes we have forgiveness but STAY HOLY as GOD is HOLY. There is no license to sin.
Having a place for you, for ALL, at the table is an open door to welcome others. Bringing others in and sharing the life and light of Christ starts with hope and love. As we move forward in our relationship with God and each other, we can then have deeper, meaningful discussions about sin and following the word of God. The message tied to this short is about Welcoming ALL.
@@HorizonsChurchLincoln of course ! But remember some ONLY here the short and with so many sinners saying they are Christian and STILL practicing Fornication, Homosexuality, Cursing, Drunkenness, etc. They truly think they are excused by THE BLOOD and CHRIST said , NOT SO. It’s just your talk made even me think you was saying, oh GOD loves everybody. HE’S got you , don’t you worry ! But I do understand about deeper teaching as they grow.
You are right. This is a short. 60 seconds or less. That's why we attach the full message to the video. Because those people who feel welcome are able to take the time to learn more. Check out our series the helping paradox. th-cam.com/video/Hbx4G6mrkKM/w-d-xo.html
why a woman is speaking in church ?
oh!
In Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Clergywomen have been part of the church for centuries. Jesus even discusses with Martha in Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed-or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” The Business of the Father. What is God calling us to do?
1 Corinthians 14:34-35 says, “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.@@HorizonsChurchLincoln
This passage is a letter to the church at Corinth. Paul's writing specifically to them for women to remain silent. If we look to the Old Testament we find no prohibition on women speaking. What about Deborah's story? Clergywomen have been part of Methodism since John Wesley licensed Sarah Crosby to preach in 1761. I think she’s trying to tell the world that GOD welcomes sinners to stay sinners and HE is ok with that. BUT that’s a LIE . HE loves sinners BUT HE DEMANDS they stop willfully sinning .
God welcomes sinners, yes. ALL ARE WELCOME. Once we've welcomed and show love to others; then we can grow in relationship together with God through learning and prayer. But your not explaining or teaching what we must do in order to achieve eternal life at the table! Matthew 16:24 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
All are welcome in. Loved. There are no barriers when coming to the table. Then, we can delve deeper into accepting Jesus as your Savior. This is part 1 of a 4 part message series. Listen to the full message of part 1 here th-cam.com/video/vXz2QCTp82U/w-d-xo.html

Why am I seeing female pastors more and more. Submit to Scripture yall
Horizons is a community guided by the Holy Spirit, growing together through all phases of life, where everyone has a place at the table. “Teach me to do what pleases you, because you are my God. Guide me by your good spirit into good land.” -Psalm 143:10 CEB - The Holy Spirit leads our pastor and community. Your path might look different as we all listen and seek to grow. “Instead, by speaking the truth with love, let’s grow in every way into Christ, who is the head. The whole body grows from him, as it is joined and held together by all the supporting ligaments. The body makes itself grow in that it builds itself up with love as each one does its part.” -Ephesians 4:15-16 CEB
Shhhh no one cares
Women can’t be pastors
Horizons is guided by the Holy Spirit, anchored in scripture and prayer. We strive to mature as disciples and lead all to Jesus for the transformation of the world from one generation to the next. “In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.” -Matthew 5:16 CEB
Amen! 🙏
What drivel : )
This verse is a forgery.
The Bible is a collection of stories and poems letters and more that span thousands of years. That has been translated and re translated hundreds of times. This passage may not have been included in the original text but somewhere through discernment with the Spirit it was placed back in.
@HorizonsChurchLincoln so you are saying that the Holy Spirit forgot to include this verse when inspiring the gospal writters? Some bibles today don't include this verse. Are they wrong? And why is this story only found in John and nowhere else? No where in the bibles does it say what you claim about holy spirit later adding in this verse- however, they do say it is ommited because it's not found in the earliest manuscripts
You make good points. I'm not saying the Holy Spirit did or didn't do anything. I am saying the Bible is more than one verse, story, or book. It is a collection that points to Jesus being the Messiah.
@HorizonsChurchLincoln can you answer any of the points I made? You can believe Jesus is the messiah and still accept that this verse is a forgery because it's not part of the original text - meaning God didn't forget to include it.
John 7:53-8:11 is stated in that it wasn't found in the earliest manuscripts. And it was added in to many translations. It's not about accusing gospel writers or later scholars of doing something wrong or adding something in that shouldn't be there. This short is for everyone, not just scalars that debate. The point I'm making is that we keep learning about how and why the Bible was written to understand God and Jesus more and bringing more to Jesus to be transformed by His love and grace. And to be that Love and Grace to others.
Amen🙏✝️❤️
Thank you Lord 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It just shows the inconsistencies of God over time, this is one of the reasons I lost my faith

Why isn't anyone under this one?🤨...Too Much Thruth???????❤
My God loves me ....The organized churches love themselves... I'm black, for a century or more these same churches told my brothers I was of the tribe of Cain. As such, MY people were less than. I asked who was Cain's wife...these same churches lied , made up story and couldn't tell me... Take your understanding of the word and put it where the sun don't shine !!!
God Loves. Jesus came to this earth humbly. He came to serve and not be served. He asked us to live in that same way. Living like He did, even on the cross saying, "Father, forgive them for they don't know what they are doing." He forgets His own anguish in order to speak words of love and forgiveness. It's powerful and yet only part of Jesus' story. This is only week 3 of our series on The Book of James. th-cam.com/video/j1RYUoQ_f28/w-d-xo.html
The first half is very relatable
Glad I was here to see it, great work on the introduction sequence.

I thought we were waiting for the resurrection? When Did he rise and come to this earth again? Hmmm
This is a quote from Easter Sunday when we celebrate that He was resurrected and that He will come again.
@@HorizonsChurchLincoln okay. I guess my curiosity lies within the fact that I’ve been hearing that expression since I was a toddler in Sunday school. I’m in my 40’s now. Can’t say I see and sign of it happening within my lifetime.
It is a good question if Jesus will return in our lifetime. Do we know... "Only the Father, Knows" So what do we do with the knowledge Jesus died for our sins and was raised again on the third day? That we have been saved. We are redeemed, and we are loved. God Loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. What we do is we share that with everyone.
Is this a women's teaching class or do you say that we need to forget the Bible when it comes to women teaching men?
We'd love for you to meet Pastor Mandy or any of our directors of ministry we enjoy teaching from the Bible and through the Holy Spirit. We have various teachers, volunteers and staff members that have been called to ministry by the Leading of the Holy Spirit. We support our community and strive to lead all to Jesus!
