South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project

The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, in South San Francisco Bay, is the largest tidal wetland restoration project on the West Coast of the United States. When complete, the Project will restore 15,100 acres of industrial salt ponds to a rich mosaic of tidal wetlands and other habitats.

Levi Lewis of the UC Davis OG Fish Lab, Director of the UC Davis Otolith Geochemistry and Fish Ecology Laboratory, discusses studies of South Bay fish and fish habitats, highlighting key findings regarding their status and trends, and how these results have informed the development of bay-wide fish monitoring under the Wetlands Regional Monitoring Program.
