I am Bert Lochs, professional jazz trumpet player, composer and jazz educator. One of the most valuable teaching and learning devices for improving improvisational skills, I found, is to trade with another player, preferably a little more accomplished than you are. You get inspiration from the things you hear, you can try to copy a phrase, emulate the sound and sense of swing, expand an idea, or simply get inspired by what the other plays. This is all I want to achieve by presenting these playalong trading tracks. Two or four bars of me playing simple ideas to get you started and inspired to come up with your own things, as if you trade with your own teacher. With these tracks I hope to fill a gap between practicing scales and licks, learning theory, listening to and transcribing solo's from the greats and actually playing a coherent solo.
