The most awesome video I have ever found while cleaning up my computer, was sent to me from a friend many years ago. must be shared. By the parody band: Green Leaves. I own nothing concerning this video.

    This reminds me of Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." It's a great book, but the absurdity of the Yankee knowing not only everything there is to know about engineering and medicine but even the dates and times of solar eclipses.can be a bit much.

    As an exchange student in Haugesund in 1995, this was the first concert I went to. It was played in a building then owned by my host father, Bjorn. Many memories. I still have this song memorized 29 years later.

    This is the first song I ever learned to sing, and in a language I didn't yet speak😅 but now do (at least a little hehe). It is special and synchronistic to me on more ways than I can explain, and makes me cry happy tears! And I love that whoever made the video used tropical island photos...that adds even more layers significance for me and beautiful feelings racing through my heart♡♡♡

    Maybe inspired by the movie "Non ci resta che piangere" (1984) by the two great comedians Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi in which they are thrown back to 1492 and have the idea of making huge money by suggesting inventions to Leonardo da Vinci. And obviously - being just a primary school teacher and a janitor - they are totally unable to describe things to the great Leonardo.

    Anyone should be able to explain these things in at least a basic way. It is a shame that so many people are so ignorant to even the most basic scientific knowledge

      What good does "Explain in a basic way" does? Are medieval people going to be able to build a computer because you "know" what a CPU is? Get real

    I use this argument all the time with all those gonks who go "if you go back in time with a gun, you can take over the world!" Oh yeah, chief? You, alone are going to face down a whole army of people who were brought up around warfare since they were children and often fanatical in their devotion to a cause. People who only know how to kill by getting close and watching their enemies die. And you're going to terrify them all with a loud bang? Yeah, hero, go ahead. I'll go with you. I can't wait to see what they do when they realize this mystical power of long range death can run out...

      Most people don't even understand where the matter that makes up _wood_ actually came from (spoiler: it's from the _air,_ not the ground). And we've been looking at trees and using wood for millions of years.

    This is seriously telling about a problem with the current generation. Taking things for granted that the previous generation developed. Fewer and fewer comprehend how critical things work beyond the idea of plugging it into the proverbial wall. We're slaves to our ignorance. Our grandparents could at least stoke the old wood stove in a pinch and feed themselves if "the Wall" failed.

    It's a black November The ocean crushes towards the beach A wrecked dream from a summer green land But I still do remember beautiful Mary McKear Far west in Tir n'a Noir Were you dream? Were you made up? Were you skin? Were you blood? I can hear you laugh, I can remember that I laughed! Behind the horizon So withered and smooth Are you mine, My Mary McKear? When my rusty body walkes the hills so tough I can hear someone whispers behind the winters so young **FEMALE SINGER** Come back my friend, from what's real and what hurts Come back again to Tir n'a Noir. Come to skin, come to your mind that distance itself from all that is grey. I will stroke your cheek and make your look become blue Because behind the horizon So withered and smooth I am yours, Your Mary McKear **END OF FEMALE SINGER** **FLUTE SOLO** **MALE SINGER** When the evening comes and I walk onboard. And my life boat gets lowered 6 feet below ground I'll sail west towards the ocean to Mary McKear. To that green Tir n'a Noir. To dream, to cheek and a heaven of comfort Where everything is sane and I hear your voice **FEMALE SINGER** "Horizons don't exist, All you touch must stay, I am yours, Your Mary McKear" **FLUTE SOLO** "Horizons don't exist, All you touch must stay, I am yours, Your Mary McKear" **END OF FEMALE SINGER** **FEMALE SINGER SINGS OPERA LIKE**

    Fiction stories where someone goes back in time and kickstarts a technological revolution so frequently fall over because the author doesn't actually know how technology works and what was actually hard about inventing it in the first place.

    Det e svart novembar, havet knuse mot strand Ein forliste drøm fra et sommargrønt land. Men eg huske ennå vakre Mary McKear, Longt vest i Tir n'a Noir Va du drøm? Va du te? Va du hud? Va du blod? Eg kan hørra deg le. Eg kan huska eg lo. Bakom horisontar, Så forvitra og glir E du mi, Mi Mary McKear. Når min rustne kropp går i bakkane tungt Hørr'eg nåken hviska bakom vintrane ungt: Kom tebage, venn, ifra kneipar og svir. Kom igjen te Tir n'a Noir. Kom te hud. Kom te sinn ifra alt så e grått. Eg ska stryga ditt kinn, gjera blikket ditt blått. For bak horisontar, Så forvitra og glir E eg di, Di Mary McKear. Så når kvelden komme og eg stilt går ombord, Og min livbåt blir låra i seks fot med jord, Seil' eg vest i havet te Mary McKear i Det grønna Tir n'a Noir. Te drøm og te kinn og ein himmel av trøst Kor allting e sinn og eg hørre di røst: Horisontar fins ikkje. Alt du tar på forblir Eg e di, Di Mary McKear

    To all of the "clever than thou" people boasting on this thread: would you first explain to them (and us) how your **time machine** worked? ;-)

    • @jamesl8640
      @jamesl8640 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be my thought, surely if you built the time machine it would be something you could explain Admittedly you wouldn't want to because they would then make one and destroy the timeline where you made it, to then tell them, so they could make it to destroy the time line (it's a lovely paradox, terrible explaination on my part)
