Model Trains - Making Roads for HO scale
มุมมอง 2414 ปีที่แล้ว
HO scale model train layout. I used Foamboards and Cardboard from carton boxes as the main materials. Also need a white color Gel pen - size 10 which gives a 1 mm thick marker lines. Used a flex curve (about $6) to make the curvy lines smooth. Real Black acrylic paint was used for road shoulders. I thought this method was easy. I am very pleased with the results. Please feel free to comment or ...

      Lalith, Thanks for the comments . Last year I received 3 Locomotives , all three as Gifts. As for Demodara loop, I had quite a few requests. But to make the Demodara loop I need much space. I am in HO scale, If I am doing in N scale I will have enough space in garage, but not in HO scale. As a kid I wanted to build a model of Maradana Station with overhead bridge and roads above with the cinema Halls etc. It is not practical with the space available to me

    Hey mate this was especially interesting for me because my dad is originally from Ceylon (burgher) and often talks about this station, he was local to it due to growing up in Kandy. He has memories of the steam trains that ran there and also the diesels. Wasn’t expecting to stumble across the topic whilst searching for DIY turntable videos! I have subscribed cheers

      Mark, sorry for the late reply as I did not check this channel often lately. But I am working everyday to improve my layout. Are you in Australia ? In the late 60's and 70's many burghers migrated to Australia from Ceylon. Dav Whatmore is one of them. Yes I am originally from Ceylon (Sri lanka), Sinhalese, but now settled in USA. If you need more info on my work , let me know. Thanks for your comments.

    Prof. Yapa, This seems to required an extraordinary amount of time but at the same time, it seems all worthy. The lay out is nicely coming together. I am excited to see the final one.

    • @dumriya8220
      @dumriya8220 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Lalith it takes a lot of time. Reasons: 1) I am doing it for the 1st time; 2) What you see is the final product that is successful after some different attempts; 3) I experiment with different material to see which one works best- also keeping the cost in mind. For example I did not have any idea that simple carton box cardboard will work. So I dwelled on it for weeks. Now in hindsight, I did not need foamboard. I could have done the whole thing with cardboard. Nevertheless, I enjoy doing this and it also helps to keep multiple skills intact (without letting them degrade). Thanks for your comments

    • @dumriya8220

      Thanks Lakshman, for water I used "realistic water" you can buy from many places. It is about $20 for a 16 oz bottle. I found it easy to use because it does not need any mixing - just pour and self leveling.
