It's ironic that Papa John Phillips didn't want Cass Elliot to be a part of the group initially because she became the most successful member of the four. She definitely had a solo career apart from the rest.

Cass Elliot was a natural beauty. She was my favorite. She always carried herself confidently and assured. If she would have stayed with us longer, she would have become a hugely successful solo artist and actress on the level of Bette Midler, Patti LaBelle, and Cyndi Lauper. The world is crappy for only focusing on her size.
