Marion was my favorite town i stayed in while hiking the AT in 23
How long does that fuel can last on average?
Is it good enough to give up your xmid for?
Not sure yet. Need to take it out on a trip before I can tell you that. I wouldn’t get rid of my x-mid. I just think I’d have to decide whether I needed a freestanding tent for certain trips. Harder to set up the x-mid on platform camping areas.
I love it! I want!
Nice tent. Lots of breathable mesh. Great for air flow definitely not a 4th season tent.
I am very wary of carbon fiber poles.. Recently bought a tarptent and the carbon fiber poles snapped together, during normal use, shattered and put several carbon fiber splinters into my finger. Cost over $3000 to have the finger operated on and the fibers removed.
Dan Durston has a video explaining why these carbon fiber poles are actually stronger than aluminum.
This is the best explanation of this product. Thank you. 🙂 I am ordering one.
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Why PU not nylon?
Polyester doesn’t stretch out and absorb as much water when wet. Tent companies haven’t been using polyester because there wasn’t a lightweight version of it until recently.
Unique and brilliant presentation man! Outstanding content
Appreciate it!
I don't really backpack much these days but this looks like a solid piece of gear.
Love this peek behind the curtain. Keep goin, friend!
I think I just need to recover from whatever health issue or mental issue I’m having and finally try it out. Got the tent at launch.
I get it. I’ve been dealing with some burnout this year. Hard to stay motivated.
looks like a twat, speaks like a twat, guess what folks, he is a
For £20 each just learn to tie a knot
i think i could basically get the same thing from ozark trails for 1/10 the price
What? 😂 I'd love to get a link to that lol.
Definitely not 💀
me when i think
You think wrong
Yeah definitely not buddy
Tents are for children to sleep in the backyard, they're useless for anything else
Silver fox 👀 AND hes funny
The chili mac by mountain house plugs u up for 3 days and by the time u get down the mountain ur ready to lay bricks 😂
Good lady I got a ride with her two years ago. Her truck is cool with all the stickers on it
are you addressing a 10 year old???
❤❤❤love it❤❤
Of course BRS 3000T, backpacking UL community ultimate stove 😂
which tent is this?
The tent I’m using rn I just roll it up and tie it to the bottom of my pack. I’m a novice though and have backpacked in az where rain isn’t a big issue
My tent gets strapped to the bottom of the bag
Grateful Dead fan?
That’s why I went to hammock
ditches the stuff sacks to put it in a stuff sack. LOL The BEST way is to use NO stuff sack, and ROLL it into a rectangular shape roughly the size of your specific pack, then place it in gently rolled up. when you fold the ends and flaps and roll it into the desired shape, attempt to keep the dirt and moisture rolled inward, so that it doesnt affect the things in your pack, no stuff sack needed.
..good advice..
how does one then keep the mud and water from spreading to other gear from the tent ?
Only a noob would not be able to get it back into that original bag
Yep… I stuff it in too. Poles and stakes at a side pocket.
Great video. Good to get a reference for what I might need.
TBH if a company is losing money laying off employees is pretty normal.
I refuse to do business with REI any more. I actually tried to get my money back on my coop membership and they refused, which only solidified my choice to never give them another dime of my money again.
You tried to get your $20 back really?
@21BDP21 yep
@21BDP21 that's like 2 dozen eggs you're damn right I tried to get my money back. I no longer want to be a member, usually co-ops will return your share if you decide not to be a member any more.
My tent goes in its sack and it’s box 📦 😂
Dude shhhh, can't even hear her lol
no
Ever consider writing a book? I hope
Right
Thank you sir.
I haven’t shopped REI for years. They use to have great customer service but really started to go downhill about 7 - 5 years ago. I don’t know why anyone would shop their continual garage sale of way overpriced used gear.
So are they saying that after July, small outfitters will be able to sell them? I haven’t used REI in years. I prefer to support cottage companies and small outfitters.
I don’t know why I’m out of the loop with the REI situation. This is the first I’m hearing of it. Both my aunt and uncle work there, I’ll need to ask them about it
I thought this would be condescending. But instead I feel quite lifted. Touché you, Irish bastard..
It’s a match made in heaven. Altra makes terrible shoes now. And rei has been selling overpriced used gear as if they were new for years. We aren’t really missing out. If Russ from topo somehow becomes normal and decides to make the heels of their shoes as if they are for human feet or elf feet, they’d be perfect.
Altra lifer here! 👋 I see Topos behind you! I recently purchased my first pair of Topos. Is that a hiking shoe there? How do you like them compared to Lone Peaks?
That is the Topo Pursuit 1 in the background, and they are fantastic! And last longer than my last 3 pairs of Altras combined!
Wish they were available someplace besides rei. Did they say when they would become available?
@@radio213 January 1st at REI and July 1st everywhere else.
@MarionOutdoors ty 🙏
Hi, hi, this is some pretty overgeneralized advice. Unless the tent is spec'd for compression (like the Nemo tents that come with their own compression sack) you risk at least damaging zippers. Ask an REI team member and they'll generally steer you away from compressing your tent (especially storing it compressed) unless the manufacturer assembled the tents with this in mind.
@@stayingsonder I get my information straight from Big Agnes. And Nemo
Or just do a timber hitch.
@@BillNelson-OU812 or a truckers hitch but I made videos on those knots already.
