Great point. Guys being held for that long also causes these problems. It's all a ripple effect. I think if the deadline doesn't get moved back, say 10 days, they should eliminate the four game rule and say a player whose rights you have comes down at the deadline, he's qualified to play. No four games required. The player has been cut, there shouldn't be a requirement. Just my take. But excellent point

Yes obviously, even within offenses the guy with the most pts often isn't the best player on the floor and vice versa. But that's why I've never been a fan of a "top performer" or "beast of the week" because most people automatically think it should or will be some guy who ripped off 4 goals and 7 pts. Especially without being able to see every game like I would want to be able to actually name standouts of the week, it doesn't really make sense. I'd rather acknowledge players like I do on a weekly basis with something to actually say about them as opposed to reading box scores. But people seem to want a "beast of the week" so we went with a Top 3 performer segment to spread the love a little bit. Again though without seeing games they often become heavily based on box scores. Long story short, you don't need to tell me that stats are wildly overrated. Always would much rather talk teams than individuals as well. Thanks for listening

Great comment, we need longer series on the way there, but yes I agree with you. Up until 2018 there was no host and it was a four team format. The best-of-3 would also be a quality addition. What has sucked is that for some reason a team from the East that already has a spot in the Founders secured (representing their province) has found its way to the final many times and takes so much shine off the final.

@@MJ9ECL Since they changed the format to the memorial cup style, there has always been a host team, it wasn’t until 2018 that 4 divisions were formed. In fact, the east division was formed only after the Larry bishop final didn’t have an AB team in it for the first time in 2015, so that it couldn’t happen again. I will agree that longer series’ result in the stronger teams being more successful which is what you want the playoffs to prove. Unfortunately logistically it doesn’t work, it would put too much strain on the east teams that already have significantly higher annual budgets than the AB teams. As for your last point, I guess AB teams just gotta be better if they want the Larry Bishop final to be for more than just the RMLL title

There weren't host teams getting in prior to 2017, for example there was no host team in 2015. The Crude hosted it but weren't in the provincial tournament. Red Deer, Sask, (North finalists) and Chill Blizzard (South finalists) were in. The Eastern Division can do whatever they want in terms of a series. If cost is an issue play the best-of-five in the higher seeds place. They already play the best-of-three in the higher seeds arena.I was talking about playing longer series in Alberta anyways. The only point being made about the final is how much juice has lacked because of the way the matchup has landed
