Walt Disney World Swan | Review
In this video, I cover my thoughts regarding my stay at Walt Disney World Swant, which is located close by to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios of the Walt Disney World Resort. While I wasn’t too blown away exactly when compared to the actual Disney Resorts I’ve stayed at, I very much appreciated the calm and collectiveness of this hotel’s luxury. The building and overall vibe is neat, and the rooms are nice as well. While I prefer the Disney Resort Hotels, if I ever came back to this property for another stay, I will not complain.
If you have any suggestions for any hotels or resorts that you'd like to see me make a review on, please let me know in the comments!

    Excellent review! Great script, and your camera work is terrific. I also agree with your conclusions. If you're going to WDW (aside from conventions) the themed resorts really set the tone for the vacation. Swan/Dolphin just don't have that. But they are very nice/ luxurious resorts with great architecture. Just watch out for that separate resort fee and the expensive parking (which is free at Disney resorts).

    Just to provide a little more history. In the early 1980s, Disney partnered with developer Tishman to build hotels near Walt Disney World to share costs and risks. By the mid-1980s, Disney's financial situation improved, and CEO Michael Eisner wanted to compete with other convention hotels, leading Tishman to file a lawsuit fearing breach of their exclusivity deal. The dispute was settled in 1988, resulting in a joint venture to build two large hotels, including the Dolphin Resort, with Disney gaining design control and revenue share, and Tishman securing a 99-year lease on a prime location near Epcot.

    Not every shot needs to have panning. There is way too much motion going on; it's legitimately difficult to watch. If you have some kind of crippling panning addiction, at least pan more slowly to reduce the extreme disorientation. Other than that, it's a nice video.

I'm not really upset that I don't get more views since I think that keeps me humble and I don't like to envy others and I like to just trust the process. There are also things in life that I value more than success on TH-cam now (such as love and family), so that's also another thing. It's great to see more in-depth information about the Universal Orlando hotel. As someone who spends more time at Disney, it's refreshing to learn about the details of Universal's offerings. How would you compare the experience of staying at a non-Universal hotel versus one of their entry-level on-property hotels? In your opinion, is staying on property worth the extra expense in this scenario?

    • @hotelreviewswithcalebkent
      @hotelreviewswithcalebkent 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Arthur2990 the extra cost is worth it depending on how many people, how long you are staying, and what time of the year, assuming it's at a signature collection hotel. I haven't stayed at any of their entry level hotels yet, but I would guess it's more in tune with the overall experience with Universal, especially with its perks.

    Thanks for another informative and entertaining review, and thanks for the mention of my question re:wilderness lodge comparison. I guess, like you said, it comes down to the question of theming preferences and sentimentality. Having been to both Yosemite and an African safari, the only thing I’d say is the scale of the AKL is totally out of proportion to anything I saw on my trip, whereas the wilderness lodge does have the look of what I saw around Yosemite both in style and scale. Therefore the latter is always going to feel that little bit more authentic. But I can see how you could still get easily lost in the attention to detail of the immersive theming of either. As a European my preference would probably be the wilderness lodge, as going to America for an American theme feels right somehow. Plus I like the lakeside look of wilderness lodge. Pools and dining look great at both by the way!

    • @Arthur2990
      @Arthur2990 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another thing that might sway one toward wilderness lodge or AKL is simply location. Do you prefer to spend more time at MK or at DAK. We have stayed at both WL(CCV) and AKL(Jambo and Kidani). We really like AKV we prefer staying at CCV simply because its closer to MK and like the dining options more.

    I know there tends to be a bit of negativity towards applying newer IP themes to older aspects of WDW or something. But I actually think applying “The Incredibles” to the Contemporary Hotel is clever and fitting. The thing is … The Contemporary was actually contemporary when it opened … in 1971. It’s funny; but it kinda seems like no one thought about how the property might be seen when it was 50+ years old. Did they just assume architecture and interior design would just stay fixed forever or something? Anyway the architecture reflects the end of mid-century modern era. The original interior design … maybe a fusion of mid-century modern and the Bohemian “granola” back to nature vibe (with the darker “earth” tones) that the 1970s was moving towards at the time. So how does The Contemporary remain contemporary in the 21st century and beyond particularly when its architecture so specifically reflects a specific time period? Fortunately, Disney had an IP that reflected that late 1960s mid-century modern vibe … or a retro-Contemporary vibe! Brilliant! All they had to do was have the interior design better fit lat mid-century modernism and theme it to “The Incredibles!” And then, as officially a “The Incredibles” hotel, The Contemporary Hotel can stay “contemporary” forever because it is contemporary in “The Incredibles” universe!

    The great thing about WDW hotels is that there is such a variety of them. So, if people are looking for more of an adult experience, they can stay at the Contemporary. If they want something 'more Disney,' they can stay at AoA or All Star Movies. I love all of the Mary Blair artwork in the hotels. Did you find the three-legged goat? I tried many things like doing another file or doing it on a different computer or changing the graphics setting but it hasn't done anything. I did manage to make another project of the video with the brightness slightly up and the contrast slight down and it came out just almost identical. @@hotelreviewswithcalebkent Thanks. I asked as whilst AKL and WL are still really expensive, they are the two deluxe resorts I'd still categorize as just about affordable. Additionally they also seem so beautifully themed. Will watch your northern california video next and compare your short list with mine.

    Did you walk to magic kingdom at all?

      No, I didn't. But I have seen a good number of people do that. I bet that most of the time the monorail/Resort launches are quicker but I do believe some instances make walking faster.
