What is impeller front clearance?
The clearance between the front side of the impeller (crown) and the casing or wear plate.
This clearance should be strictly followed in case of semi open impellers.
How do you check the impeller front clearance?
By the use of feeler gauge and with dial indicator as possible.
How do you adjust impeller front clearance?
Add or remove casing gasket thickness.
By the changing the position of rotor.
What is the Function / use of diffuser?
It is used to convert the velocity energy to pressure energy.
What is the function of lantern ring?
It is used to supply the fluids to gland packing for cooling , lubrication and flushing purpose.
Prior to install a mechanical seal , what are the main things we have to check?
Axial and radial movement of the shaft.
Run out of the shaft.

What is cavitation?
It can define as , Subsequent formation and collapse of vapor bubbles inside the casing. If the pressure of the liquid is reduced below its vapor pressure, bubbles will form. When the pressure increased above the vapor pressure the bubble will break again. ( Cavitation is the process of air or vapor lock in a pump )
Common Reason for cavitation:-
Wrong NPSH.
Pin hole or any air leak on suction line.
Starvation of pump ( not receiving sufficient flow ).
Low velocity of liquid in the suction eye of Impeller.
