Velocity- Area Method (Part 2)
This video is the second part of a two-part demonstration detailing the methods and calculation techniques of the velocity-area method for quantifying river discharge. The video overviews the data acquisition of the 3-point velocity field measurement technique and details the calculations for the 6/10's, 2/10's - 8/10's and three point velocity profile analysis. Relating calculated discharges to rating curves is also presented.

Infiltration test using a double-ring infiltrometer
มุมมอง 13K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This video provides an overview of the installation and measurement technique for estimating infiltration in a hydrologic budget using a double-ring infiltrometer. The technique also outlines field tests in shallow core inventories (colour, plasticity, effervescence, etc.) and the jar shake test for estimating percent's sand/silt/clay of sampled units.
Delineating a watershed boundary
มุมมอง 3033 ปีที่แล้ว
This instructional video overviews the procedure for delineating a topographic watershed boundary using a contour map. The interpretation of ridges and river valleys are outlined to aid in the interpretation. Differentiating a topographic catchment area from an effective catchment area is also highlighted.
Quantifying river discharge using the velocity-area method (Part 1)
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is the first of a two-part series overviewing the procedures involved with undertaking the velocity area method. The video describes site selection criteria, cross-section discretization, various current meters, use of the top-set rod and field execution of the velocity-area method.

What a resource for the community. Thank you.
I am curious where are we making the mistake as I can not have stable flow on fixed time scale (every 1min) - as some times I have zero value sometimes have value - so not like your excel I have more or less a value..which manuplates the formula.
This doesn't look like the method or equipment for D3385
Is there a template for this without the values so I can use it for my own data that I collected?
Please send me an email and I will forward you a spreadsheet!
what is the difference between Guelph and Tension infiltrometer ?
A tension infiltrometer is similar to the Guelph Permeameter in many ways. However, a tension infiltrometer applies a negative pressure to the soil matrix such that, in theory, on can control the volume of water entering macro pores (such as burrow holes or abandoned root pathways). Therefore, the tension infiltrometer is designed to characterize the primary porosity and thus the primary percolation rate through the soil as a function of time. The Guelph Permeameter does not differentiate between the primary and secondary porosity and thus captures the overall percolation rate through the soil layer as a function of time.
Well done, this was all I needed to perform the test and reduce the data!
¡Muchas gracias! ¡Muy buen video!
i also would like to acquire the excel data sheet

Wonderful explanation Sr
Hi, can I request for the Excel file of this field test. I am a student and I can't find any other reference for the analysis of the data. Thanks
The spreadsheets are displayed in such a fashion that anyone can follow the cell-by-cell calculations to develop their own spreadsheet. This approach facilitates individual learning of the method (and validation of your own calculations) rather than seeking an answer.
@@billannable2086 I understand, by the way, thanks😄
@@billannable2086 Hi, great video. I would like to know if you can share the Excel Spreadsheet with me too. Thanks for your attention.
How did you add Contour in google earth.
Many responsible government agencies now have *.KMZ layers (such as in this example) that you can upload data into Google Earth. Newer versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Grapher also have export functions that can be compatible with Google Earth as well.
can you give data sheet please
