I'm a professional character animator working in TV, but that doesn't matter here, this is my casual channel :D

Shots I worked on from WondLa Season 1
**This show belongs to Skydance and can be watched on Apple TV+. I feel ownership of these shots because I am an artist that worked on them, but they do not legally belong to me.**
I can't believe I can finally show these publicly! Feels like it's been forever since I wrapped these shots, but here they are!
0:11 - I thought they were gonna simulate her pants different, now her fingers are floating T^T
0:27 - My director helped me with some notes on the first bike shot, so I can't take full credit, but I still feel ownership of it
0:50 - Other people worked chalkboard Eva before and after I did, so I can't take full credit for this one either
0:53 - eeeewwww, look at those foot pops! (I'm mostly to blame for that though)
1:12 - I had more shots leading up to this one, but they were restaged and reanimated, so my version didn't make the cut :(
2:04 - They changed Otto's line, so it doesn't really work with his acting beats anymore, but it's fine ig
Don't come for me Skydance, this is public now. Anyone can snip shots from Apple TV and upload them to youtube, this is free marketing :D

Yeah there's a lot of inconsistencies, but I'm sure a lot of the shots will look different in the game anyway, and some might've just been for the trailers. I was excited for this series after reading the book when I found out Lassiter is helping with it. But why did they change all the character designs so drastically? Why is all the animation smoothed out like a Disney Jr. series? Why did they change Eva from a 13 year old blonde girl with braided pigtails to someone who looks like 32 year old Raya? And why does Mother look like... that? That's not Mother...
Something about how Muthr lost her fingers and arms, as well as shrinking her down physically makes me sad. Her new design is probably a lot easier to animate, but also completely scrubs the Tin Man + disability allegories that gave so much to her character and story. Also, RIP Queen Ojo's OG design,, she was magnificent. Ofc I understand the show is marketed towards young kids, the OG readers were expecting something much closer to Scavengers Reign (darker, grittier with more commentary on the social issues explored in the books) rather than to revamp the series for a new gen of fans at the cost of the OGs. On the other hand, kudos to the team for making Eva darker (physically) and giving her ethnic features.

@@neanderthalshenanigans I was a TD intern for a few weeks. So I bounced between projects doing a little here and there and learning from some really awesome industry veterans. I mostly did some general TD stuff, light RV stuff, and helped set up a review session for the show. Would love to find my way into the industry again soon. Everyone in the studio was an absolute joy to work with and very inspiring. We'll see where my career takes me next. 😎

I think it's the lack of shadow from a star? it looks like it's being lit all around

hey man ! awesome video, glad I stumbled upon this, very helpful. and about those ambient movements, how do you go about animating them, do you just add movement to the COG?
Glad you liked the video! I'd be careful moving the cog too much without moving anything else, mainly it's just adding some slight overshoot and settle to the parts that were moving before, and maybe some small antics to the parts that are about to move. If it's a long hold, you'll want to be very conservative with the motion so it doesn't feel swimmy or floaty. It's ok for some things to stop moving sometimes so long as it doesn't look odd or sudden, just try not to pixel lock the entire character. Also what you could do is add some breathing in the chest and shoulders, especially if the char is about to go into a big motion after the hold, having them take a big breath right before can be a nice antic! Apologies if this doesn't answer your question, i made the video over a year ago, so lmk if i'm misinterpreting what you asked. Hope this helps!

Hi, yes the rig comes as a part of the course, so it's only available to the students, but we get access to the rig for life, even if we only take one semester which is nice I do really like the rig too, i've used it in 3 shots now and will continue to use it in many more most likely

this is really cool! I like how down to earth it is -- not a big argument or anything, just a small spat that every couple has. Not to mention their expressions really sell it; her slightly mocking how he talks about golf and him being exasperated about explaining that just cause he isn't as animated (pun intended) about going to see her family, doesn't mean he isn't happy to do it. kudos
This is fantastic, the only thing to improve ive seen is her hands/wrists at 00:10. Instead anticipating and releasing with the weight of the pot they float and slide. But a small detail in a really well done scene.

That is an entirely incorrect assesment of a very nice little animation. The sound its being animated over is clearly designed to be a man and a woman, plus it makes more sense for an animator to animate two genders as it gives them more practice. Please dont turn pro gay ideology into anti straight ideology. They arent the same thing. We need to be inclusive of one another, regardless of sexuality and gender, that includes being inclusive of straight and cis ppl, even if they arent directly apart of our community. One if the biggest arguements against us is that we're "forcing the gay agenda" on straight and cis people, and when i see this i just think of people who are already mislead, seeing a perceived "liberal" being anti straight. As much of an overeaction as it may seem, it is an important thing to shut down these falsehoods about the community.
