Liz Olson of BiodiversityWorks, a Martha's Vineyard based non-profit shared stories from her work in the field tracking spotted turtles. From 2020-2022 her team tracked more than a dozen turtles in several different populations around the island.

I noticed that the entrance hole was not 1-1/2", is that a better way for bluebirds?
Great comment Dan! these boxes were donated by a local girl scout troop who found their plans online. In general, I would recommend the Cornell Ornithology's nest box plans, which specify correct sizes: nestwatch.org/learn/all-about-birdhouses/birds/eastern-bluebird/

How could she see anything in the box when they’re hung so high?
Great question! I believe she brings a folding chair/step stool when she monitors. This is also helpful if she is staying out in the field for a while observing the boxes.
My boxes are set at eye level. 5 - 6’. Easy in and out
