    Hello, Wonderful video...I just recently rediscovered many photos and slides from my Father's time in Metz 1960-1963. You have many of the same vantage points as his photos. Thank you for posting a great video. You have given me a little more inspiration to create some sort of project with his old almost forgotten memories.

      beaucoup, faut quand même pas exagérer. Pas plus que dans n'importe quelle autre ville de même taille en France. Le centre ville a un peu perdu de son dynamisme malheureusement mais ça reste une ville où il fait bon vivre.

    This is a very underrated city. I visited this place during a stop on my way from the Elzas back home. I was very surpriced how nice and beautiful this city is.

    You wonder about the red tower of the Sint Janskerk. Well the actual story is that there was a wooden tower before but burned and the whole city started collecting money for the church but when it was time for the finishing touch all the money that was still to be used was gone. It was never recovered so it has nothing to do with a chemical reaction or whatever. I am a native from Maastricht.

    Nice overview of one of my favorite cities in Bologna. I spent 14 months here in 2021-2022. If you are looking for a city to use as a home-based, I highly recommend Bologna. There are also quite a few language schools there as well.

      I have no idea as I don’t think anyone is formally keeping track and there’s no “entrance fee”. We were there on a cold Sunday afternoon with probably about 50 other visitors at the same time.

    Nice video about Metz! Do you know that the Temple Neuf was designed by the German Kaiser Wilhelm II? The architect Konrad Wahn had to change the plans until the emperor signed it with "very good".     Thank you for bringing back many beautiful memories! I went to the Christmas Market every year for about 5 years! Crowded? You bet! Lovely? Even more so! I only lived about 45-50 kilometers south in Wassertrüdingen. Back then, I don't even think that "hick town" was even on the map. You may know it from Schwarzkopf! (Schauma shampoo?)Anyway!     I remember Rothenburg o.d. Tauber well! And, i've seen many videos from you and others travelling there. But, I've never seen any pictures from the City Hall tower. Why not! Isn't allowed to be climbed anymore? That would be very unfortunate.

      @@chasingfootprints Indeed! I was up there with my ex! She almost passed out! (It's about 40 meters or 36 yards high!) I went to school there as an aprentice. Learned the theories in metal. The school is long clsed. But, it was where the Max-Plank-Institut is now (if it's still there!) Just around the corner from the Town Hall.     My friends are all dead and gone now. The city holds nothing for me now but the cold weather. There was a time I could throw a rock in any direction and hit no one. Even though my home there was an Army bunk, i so loved that city, but it was not just the buildings and food. Commercialism !!

      The presence (or lack of) loved ones can definitely make or break a place, yes! When I was at the market I wondered if the locals appreciate the Christmas market and feet that it draws. I guess some love it and others would rather avoid it.

I am planning to stay 6 nights in Nuremberg and from there go on day trips to Bamburg, Regensburg, Wurzburg, and Augsburg, and then stay for 2 nights in Rothenburg ob der Tauber then go to Munich and stay there for another 3 nights.
