Any tips on budgeting/planning? I wanna backpack there next summer!
Sure! What saved me the most money overall was using miles to get all my flights. I got the miles needed by signing up for a Chase credit card. Instead of costing thousands of dollars, my six flight segments were only about a hundred bucks in taxes. The only planning I did beforehand was putting together a list of cities I wanted to visit with dates I'd be there. Once the trip started, I normally found hostels to stay in the day before or the day of the booking. I usually found things to do by looking at the top ranked activities on TripAdvisor. You'll have a lot of fun if you end up going!

Yeah, I did! They're affordable and a great way to meet other travelers.
