Good point man, thanks. Getting lazy with the release
Cool share! Practice is hard work. And Hard work will pay off!
Thanks bro. Couldn't agree more
14 shots, 5 misses, total accuracy: 64% Crossbar is fun, but no bueno. You practice hitting it, you’ll hit it when it matters
Thanks for the breakdown bro. I'm mostly working on my release here over accuracy, but I'm going to take this to heart since I missed the net by a couple feet last night hahah
If this is your primary shooting technique, consider going down to a 65 flex imo. You'll get less flyers where you haven't properly flexed the stick and are chipping under it a bit and it's easier. You'll still generate plenty of velocity.
I have considered and tried it! I plan to again but at the time it felt too whippy on faceoffs and in the corners. I really should hit the gym and I could get more out of the stick. Something to think about though, thanks
@@ddropkick The key is strength for sure for stiffer flexes, especially core. I had a buddy I played AAA and Juniors with that ended up playing at the D1 level that used 50 flex at 5'10 180. Don't be afraid to go down. There are some adjustments, like you pointed out, but it works fine! Takes lots of reps to change over though.
@@chadlevitan7886 No way, 50 flex at 180 is nuts. I'm definitely going to give it a shot, hopefully this season coming up and I'll be sure to upload some shots for comparison!
@@ddropkick I wouldn't go that extreme, he was an outlier for sure. Would probably require an almost complete overhaul of technique. He kind of just picked the puck up rather than using the ice. But 65 is reasonable. When you cut it down it's more in the 70-75 range. I stuck with that throughout Juniors/NCAA D3.
@@chadlevitan7886 interesting. I’m using 77 now so 65 is what I’d go with. Exactly what you said, after the cut it would be more like 70-7 Thanks bro!
I'm just here to hate you for that empty stick and puck time, as always! I live in a city with 4 rinks and none of them have decent Stick and Puck times to go to. The closest one does Stick and Puck on weekdays at 10am...who can make that time with a job? Even lunch break Stick and Puck was tough but at least manageable. Does your rink have any rebounders or obstacles you can put on the ice? One thing that is good about the place with the miserable Stick and Puck times is that you can use their puck rebounders and defensive obstacles to make yourself some fun challenges.
Hahah thanks for checking in! For a while I was able to manage my schedule at work but I haven't been able to for a while. Just uploading some stuff from a few months ago. It's really tough in general though! The kids get the best ice times and not much is left for stick and puck No rebounders that I have seen. There might be some obstacles that I have seen being stored off the ice but I don't know if we are allowed to use them on our own. Rebounders would be awesome!
Good snap on those shots 👍 Puck is popping the stick effortlessly
Thansk bro! Appreciate the kind words
I am once again here to tell you how jealous I am of your stick and puck situation.
I get lucky every so often! There are a lot of sessions that are full or with enough people that I don't record anything
@@ddropkick Ah yeah, I feel that. The last few ones I went to where I live had about 8 high school kids with a coach taking up an entire offensive zone and then some kids shooting on a goalie on the other end leaving only half of an already smaller than standard neutral zone for skating
@@aaronwhite1786 that’s brutal! They should have an employee making sure people don’t monopolize the ice!
Good power and velocity. I see nothing wrong with those shots

Just some random bozo stopping by, but you might look around the rink to see if they have rebounders you can take on the ice with you. The rink I skated at previously had a pretty good sized one (which was a bitch to carry across the rubber floors in skates) that you could take onto the ice if you were lucky enough to get ice this empty. I'm jealous of how many people I see who are able to get such empty stick and puck sessions.
Hey bro thanks for the comment! I’ll have to go exploring the rink to see if they are hiding some! The secret is early morning weekdays :) sometime I get lucky but most the times there is at least 3-4 other people
@@ddropkick That's awesome! All of the stick and puck sessions around here are at lunch, which is a bit of a pain in the ass, even working from home. It's tough to get 30 minutes for the round trip drive, 20 minutes to change into and out of the gear, and then an hour to skate. I'd love to have some early morning sessions here. I've been settling for just hitting up the figure skating freestyle sessions with some knee pads to work on skating. Something's better than nothing.
@@aaronwhite1786 it’s true the time does add up quite a bit.. also need to shower haha only way to save time is to wear only skates, gloves and a helmet but I prefer full gear That’s interesting! Definitely better than nothing. Good on you for doing what you can to train!
@@ddropkick Ha, one of the lucky parts of working from home at least is that I can work at my desk covered in sweat from hockey and just shower after work. I'll just feel like a caveman for a few hours. I keep hoping someday one of the 3 rinks around me will start a morning stick and puck. I'll have to keep hoping and waiting. At least one positive side is that without a stick in my hands and pucks to shoot I'm pretty much forced to work on skating alone, which is by far my biggest weak point.
@@aaronwhite1786 hey that’s perfect! Fingers crossed man. Until then keep working on skating when you can! Gotta do whatever you can if you want to improve right
Excellent display of control and proper technique.🙏🏻 Do ya'll ever spar without shin guards?
Thank you! Not usually but lately another teammate and I have tried a few short rounds with maybe 5% power with bare shins. Feels a lot different! I'll definitely be trying it some more
@@ddropkick It's much different, but makes one less reckless, especially with kicks...we spar without shin guards Monday's and Saturday's at the Muay Thai gym I train at in Seattle, with no more than 50% to the head, body and legs are open to harder strikes...at the risk of one's shins, haha. Be well!🙏🏻
@@IRELANDISFORTHEIRISH that’s for sure! Have to pick your shot much more wisely. Thats awesome! Keep training hard 🙏
Incredible 👌🏽

I'm definitely lucky to have such great teammates!
Great job! According to my trainer's advice, I should bend my knees more and squat lower to keep my center of gravity even lower. Good luck!!!
Thanks for the tip buddy! Getting lower seems to solve a lot of probems when skating
Nice work there bud! What personally helped me massively was just leaning on the boards with the mohawk position and then just shifting my weight from left to right. I hope this helps and happy training :)
Thanks bro! I'll give that a shot :)
Is that the Richmond ice centre?
Busted...
Good stuff bro
Thanks man! Appreciate it
Montreal has no rinks where I can just chill alone.
That’s too bad man! I got lucky at this stick and puck / drop in. Most days there are at least a few other players
a few. Here there are 10000 people@@ddropkick
Bro no goalie and you missed how many
thats cuz hes aiming the top of the net, its useless to shoot in the middle as any goalie could very easily stop the puck
As @nicreborn said I’m not aiming for the middle! You’re right though, I should hit the net more which is why I am practicing 😉
Congratulations...you've just discovered the point of...practice. Which is what they are doing...
Nice Shots!
Thanks bud!
