Hi Kathleen, unfortunately the guy that made the wooden one does not sell anything any more and I have never seen one anywhere else. The little plat that I was using is actually a saucer I think from a tea cup set I think. The indents in the wooden one is actually just shallow drill holes. I am not sure which country you are in but in Australia alot of towns have a 'mens shed' which is a wood working group. Sometimes they will make stuff for people or normally they encourage you to make it with them. Hopefully that helps a little

I was motivated to work out how to knit without turning as once these blankets get bigger they are a right pain to turn all the time! It looks cool, but it is not really that hard, just like learning a new stitch =]

Lots and lots and lots of practice and many and angry word to get it nailed down. Using a hook is a great way to do it as well, but I always end up misplacing them, I don't know where but where ever it is there is probably a full set there ;] It is a mix of Handspun and Commercially processed yarn. A red and green that I will be adding later are from the UK, but otherwise it is either handspun or yarn produced or grown in AUS. I try to get as locally sourced materials as possible now, not because I think there is anything wrong with items sourced from else where, I just want to try and support local growers as much as I am able to.

I am so glad you found it helpful! Being able to spin the yarn you want is fantastic! Spinning as a whole can be very frustrating to learn, but once you get the knack for it the skills you learn from one type of spinning really helps to inform the others, so whether you start with your turkish or your supported spindle, your ability with the other will also improve. I am thinking about making a video on my turkish as I have started using it quite a bit more now as I can ply on the fly which is fun =] Have a great time with it and remember to have fun =]

@@littlecedarhouse - It always takes time (and frustration) to learn a new skill and even more to become good at it. Fortunately I’m crazy enough to tell myself “why not” and stubborn enough to stick with something for quite a while. At least, that’s how my daughter describes me. It’s how I learned to make meads and fruit wines, how I learned to knit lace, how to do calligraphy, and how I taught myself to achieve the perfect razor-sharp edge on all of my kitchen knives (took me a while to master that one!). It’s building muscle memory, an ‘eye’ and a ‘feel’ for whatever you embark on. I’d love to see a video on how you work with a Turkish spindle. I’ve seen videos on doing ply on the fly and am especially interested in the possibilities with fine yarn as a lot of what I’ve seen caters to thicker yarns. But even a video with thicker yarn would be wonderful! I certainly will have fun with this! I love a challenge and learning to spin and ply fits nicely in with my knitting. Extra incentive! Yay! 😊 Knowing that practicing with one type of spindle helps improving skills with other spindles is encouraging. Thank you!

Sorry to not have replied, it is called Vanilla RTX I think, I will have to search it up and find a new version for the new minecraft update, so when I do I will make sure it is posted in a video and the links all supplied then.

Sorry Google translate has let me down I a bit, I think you mentioned combs. Combs are great as well I agree, I did not have them at the time I made this video, do have some now ironically I have never used them with raw fleece. It was very helpful to do this though when I did not have the money to buy more equipment but I really wanted to use the fleece I had.

Just a video to explain that it takes a little bit before the soap starts to come through the fleece and then you are set from there.

I know this comment is super old, but no the felt gets a little thicker as the wool felts together a bit more and the soap gets smaller to the point where the wool does not shrink down any smaller and then the soap is just used up inside

Hey there, I know you commented a long time ago, but I just wanted to say I do have wool combs now, but I always seem to get quite a bit of waste with them as well. I wish I had the combs when I tried this so I could have compared the results. That been said at the time we were on a single income, and I could not afford to get combs at the time so this worked really well for me, it was this or throw it all away. So while not perfect it did help me through at the time

Always wash the wool for hay and poop particles, if you want you can add animal soaps and things I personally have this milk and honey soap which helped a lot. After its washed and dried you start carding it :)

You can wash Alpaca before or after spinning, but it really depends on the fleece, this one I could spin and then wash after but his white buddy, no hope. No matter how I tried after I spun it was never anywhere near as bright or white as if I washed it first Also depending on where you live you might prefer to wash first regardless. Where I live you are pretty safe spinning unwashed fleece but I am not sure that is the case everywhere. When you need to be comfortable with whatever is in the fleece running through your fingers.

If the dye doesn't come out during the felting process when it's dipped in and out of really hot water why would it come out during using it for bathing🤔
