It's been a while...
It's been a long time between drinks and the forecast looked promising but not much luck this time around. I'm sure there were a few really good waves ridden over the last two days but it was very hard to link up with any of the decent ones. Hope you enjoy the video.

Yeewww
Jeeezzzs is that how surf James 😂😂🤙🏄
Yeeeewwww sick Barrel
I just got out from a hour long surf at a local point break on NSW cenny coast. Impossible to get the inside... 0 waves ridden. Surfing sometimes can totally meet expectations, and sometimes totally not. Its frustrating as F^&*
Ahhh man, Southerly swells are always so slow and sweepy around here. Probably my most frustrating surfs ever have been with these conditions but all it takes is one wave or good session and the stoke is back!
Yeah Malia ❤❤❤😮😮😂
Thank god I had to figure it all out for myself, without someone telling me the right way and the wrong way
Trial and error definitely gives you the best results but this video is more aimed at incoming instructors for the school so we avoid having scared kiddos.
Wow times flies Congrats
Surf mat for mildly disabled people. My husband is learning to surf and I would like to join him. Thanks
Hello, send us a message with more details and we'd be more than happy to try and help.
What else would you like to learn?
Great video, very well explained, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
what month were you there? Enjoyed the video, thanks
Thank you 🙏 We were there early October
That was SO beautiful it makes me homesick
What a trip 🎉
😮
Beautiful where is here?
Scopello, Italy
i think there’s a difference between localism, respect, and regulating but they all work hand in hand. localism/regulating is important so spots don’t turn into another version of malibu or snapper. it’s also essential for safety i remember surfing out at kaiser’s a few years ago and someone who shouldn’t be out in the water was getting in the way and ended up causing a collision which led to someone having to be transported in an ambulance to the hospital
On my back side I am much better at getting my body coiled before the top turn and then having my board return to the power of the wave. On my front side my turns feel much flatter and way less powerful resulting in losing speed and having very little impact on the wave. I cant seem to figure it out.
Hey Hose, this is actually a pretty common occurence and I think I know exactly what's going on. Typically it feels a lot more natural to twist and fall forward or hit the lip and come down with your chest toward the beach on your backhand as you can see more clearly and feel more controlled and balanced this way. On a frontside snap it feels a bit awkward as your back is to the beach so you're essentially falling back and feeling as if you're losing control. Look at my frontside snap and see how I twist before I hit the lip and I make sure I don't lean back as you'll lose the power and pivot through the turn. Try twist rather than lean and also play around with your timing. Hopefully this helps!
Usual circus
sick! although it technically worked for an h haha
It pays to be onto it 👌

nice!
🤙🏼
Old timer surfer told me the same thing back inthe 70s! Aloha from Hawaii! Its all about the rail ,tail nowadays, but the first turn is most important!
The old boy was spot on!
Nice mate. What about bottom turns in backhand when you ride small waves?
Video will be coming soon. It’s essentially the same thing but in reverse. Less compression/pressure and rotation when smaller and then the opposite when there’s a larger wave. There is a full video on our channel with all the different variations 👌
Thank u for this video, I bodyboard but am afraid to be in a surfers way and didn’t know anything about surf etiquette until now. 🙌
Anytime 👌
Wow
hell yea bro
Are you yelling help??? Are you serious!!!
It's more of a HEYYY or HOOO which gets a littel muffled with the GoPro in the mouth. Very small margin for error in these types of waves and if anyone takes the wave or drops in on me it'll ruin my wave and possibly injure me too. It's essentially a loud and obnoxious way of putting my indicator on in my car of blowing my horn to warn someone of incoming danger.
Are you yelling help are you serious
Have no idea what I was doing but somehow survived without any help.
Immense dude thanks for sharing 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it
Good stuff mate! Let’s catch up for a surf soon 🤙🏽
Sounds good!
Great advice and makes total sense if flip things around to one’s own local spot
Thank you!
can you talk about the little pump/extension most pros do just before they forehand bottom turn. yago, medina, jordy and ethan all do this. they lift their arms and their back heel lifts.please explain the purpose and the weighting required to execute these 2 stage bottom turns, cheers
Hey Stefan, are you talking about front or backside snaps or both? This pump you’re talking about is either an extra speed generator or most likely a way to draw their bottom turn out to better time the upcoming snap section. It’s essentially a way to delay their upcoming planned bottom turn so they are hitting the top part of the wave at the right time. This is at least what I think you’re talking about. If you have any video on YT with your example post a link and a time stamp and I’ll hopefully be able to provide more info.
I like how you break things down and straight to the point. Would love to hear your take on frontside re-entries, if you have any tricks. Also the dogo needs more screen time
Re entry is definitely in the works and we will be sure to have more of Bear in the video!
When was this? Wish I was fit enough to stay in the line up there
Around march this year 👌
@@Kirrapointsurfschool Thanks, those huge sweeps there too much for me so its cool to see from your perspective
That was fully sick as dude..😮 🎉❤
Good stuff mate, super informative and not boring. Keep it up
Thank you, will try and keep them coming.

kool stuff man
Thank you!
Wow!😊
That was sooo good!!!!
I would like to know more about wave selection and how to define which ones you should take to get a better ride. Love the video though had some great tips in it!
Wow hi
@@GMoffat77 hallooooooo
Thank you! This is definitely in the pipeline. Hoping to have a whole new encyclopedia on surfing technique up here but it takes time to make quality videos.
This was excellent. Love to see what determines the different changes to the bottom turn to cater to different maneuvers and when that decision is made. Is it right before bottom turn , during or right before hitting lip ?? There are times when I am going for vert snap and it turns into a good layback just randomly and I just go with it.
I think I understand your question and I’ll try and answer. There’s a lot to unpack here. I usually make my mind up at the bottom part of the turn. Usually I find if I’m between two minds (can’t decide what turn I’m going to do) I tend to mistime the turn and either fall or fall out of rhythm with the wave. Otherwise if you’re accidentally laying back it’s likely your back arm is going behind your back during the turn and throwing your balance off. You can correct this by bringing that arm around to point to the beach and you should stay more upright to do a more conventional “snap.” There’s also other times where you plan a turn off the top and the section you’re hitting ends up doing things differently to what you expected and you end up doing something different to what you planned. This is what makes surfing fun, unpredictability, you can sometimes do some really odd but fun turns when this happens. In this circumstance I would just say roll with it and it sounds like you already are!
@@Kirrapointsurfschool Amazing stuff. Thanks. I am subscribed bro. My humble request is for next clip instructional clip is frontside snap into 360 or blow tail 360. I can do the regular typical 360 no problem and sometimes backside snap 360. Never a frontside turn into a 360 however. I know many with same issue. Thanks so much! I look forward to see this channel grow. Such quality from the get go.
beatutifull blue heller!!
Thank you!
How to generate speed on small waves? Pumping vs tic tac (rail to rail) which one should you use? What are the correct techniques? Great video mate, thanks for the content 🤙🏻
