Transforming a Plain Scrapbook using Sizzix die-cuts
There is beauty in simplicity...
This little memory book was a gift for an 18th Birthday.
It started out as a plain store bought spiral bound scrapbook with black pages. I used my Sizzix Bigshot to cut different flower and leaf shapes for decorating the pages.
I also embossed the envelopes, pockets and bellybands with my Bigshot and the texture of the embossing made such a huge impact on the overall look. The wax seals imprint is also a leaf which ties in with the overall theme.
Each pocket and envelope will hold a letter from a different person - 18 letters from 18 people for an 18th birthday....
And the rest of the blank pages toward the back of the book will be decorated with photos.
I hope you enjoy this quick video and that it inspires you to use your die cuts and embossing folders to get creative.

How to make a Tiny Journal & Sleeve Closure: Tutorial
มุมมอง 4398 หลายเดือนก่อน
In my previous video, I showed you how I make a masterboard journal cover, from packaging boxes and paper scraps. In this video I show you how I create the signatures (papers) and bind them into the cover. I thought this might be helpful for all the beginner journal makers. It might be a bit more tricky than the normal 3 hole pamphlet stitch, since I am doing it in a way that hides the threads,...
Masterboard Mini Junk Journal Cover
มุมมอง 1378 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of the easiest ways for me to make a Junk Journal Cover is by gluing paperscraps onto packaging boxes. It's a 2 in 1 win in terms of upcycling - I get to make a dent in my paper scraps stash, and I recycle packaging boxes. Even though masterboards are a relaxing, low concentration craft, I do put some thought into the pieces I am gluing down. Especially when I am doing it as a Journal Cover...
Some of my Favorite Scrap Buster Ideas PLUS Tutorials for Beginners
มุมมอง 19K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
I had so much fun with my paper scraps, and thought I'd share some of my favourite ways to use up my paper and cardstock off cuts and left overs with you. These projects are all beginner friendly, quick and easy to make and can be done in mass make sessions. My process is usually to make them all in advance, rather plainly - just the bases, then I like to decorate them later on when I use them ...
Grungy Roses Journal Flipthrough
มุมมอง 19410 หลายเดือนก่อน
You might recognize these digitals from a previous project I did. Remember the explosion box tutorial? These are all off cuts and leftovers from the digital kit I used for that Explosion Box. I love this kit by Shasty Designs so much, and cannot stop creating with it. Even though I kept this journal thin, with only 32 pages, there is more than enough writing space with all the tags, inserts, jo...
Mini Journal Library for all the Seasons of your life
มุมมอง 16410 หลายเดือนก่อน
Another idea inspired by my mood... I was going through some ups and downs and kept calling it 'the seasons of life' and I knew I had to 'embrace all the seasons of life'. I wondered how I could incorporate this into a Journal project, and this is what I came up with... A mini Journal Library, for all the Seasons of Life. I had to do some math to establish the exact measurements of the box, eac...
Full Craft Room Tour
มุมมอง 2.4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
You might have noticed I haven't been uploading many videos recently. I am sorry about that, but I took a much needed break, and did a huge craftroom reorganization, declutter and clean-up. When I first moved into this big space from my tiny craftroom, I basically put things in spaces just to get it done. But as I crafted, I realized they were totally in the wrong place. So essentially, actuall...
Pearls & Lace Wedding Journal Flipthrough
มุมมอง 20811 หลายเดือนก่อน
A first for me... this request came from a sweet friend to make a Wedding Journal for her daughter. I was challenged in so many ways, to steer away from the design concepts which are so familiar: contrast, distressing, etc. I did however manage to create this very elegant, feminine and soft look by layering beige and other neutral and pastel colors. There is also a lot of texture in this book, ...
Daisies Journal Flipthrough
มุมมอง 130ปีที่แล้ว
I was inspired by the beautiful daisy images to create this soft cover journal, which is perfect for someone that loves to write. There are a lot of journalling spots, journalling cards, tags and so much more to explore. The pink, beige and brown colours merge beautifully and each page is inviting and inspiring in it's own unique way. All paper was hand stained with coffee / tea to get the inte...
Blue Jeans & Stamps Journal Fipthrough
มุมมอง 188ปีที่แล้ว
For pure writing pleasure... I created the beautiful pages in this journal by stamping and stenciling onto coffee dyed paper. I kept it simple and cohesive by repeating stamp and stencil designs throughout the book, and in shades of blue and brown only. Here and there I added a butterfly from paper napkins, but this Journal has NO pockets, no tags, none of those yummy bits I usually include. BU...
Mini Album - Fall Theme (Flipthrough)
มุมมอง 101ปีที่แล้ว
Lets page through this Mini Photo Album with beautiful autumn themed papers and colours. This mini album measures 4.5 by 6.5 inches with a 2 inch spine. There are 42 dedicated photo mats and lots of space to add in more ... And there's a space on the cover where you can slide in a photo of your choice. All the flip-outs, flip-ups and downs, and pull outs makes this and interesting and interacti...
Reading Journal Flipthrough - Non-conventional style
มุมมอง 296ปีที่แล้ว
'Book lover's Indulgence'... quit a fitting name with all the beautiful images of antique books in this Journal. Although this is meant to be a Reading Journal, it can be used in so many ways, since it deviates a bit from the conventional Reading Journals you might find. It contains beautiful imagery of vintage books throughout, with inserts for keeping a Reading List, Book Ratings, Reading Tra...
Double-sided Envelope Journal - Flipthrough
มุมมอง 383ปีที่แล้ว
Here's my take on an envelope journal. This is a 'double-sided' journal with a booklet at the front and back of the journal, and the envelope flaps serve as the closure. There is space for hidden tags on the side, between the envelope flaps, which I've attached ribbon and dangling beads for a nice effect. For this project, I took inspiration from various videos, but the main ones are listed bel...
Let's make an interesting closure for a cute Tiny Journal
มุมมอง 290ปีที่แล้ว
Recently I've been making a lot of these Tiny Journals, mainly because they make great little Christmas gifts, but also because I just enjoy making them. I've been playing around, trying to think of interesting closures, and thought I'd share this one with you. I call it a sleeve closure. I'm not sure if this idea is already out there somewhere. Hope you enjoy this short demo of how I create a ...
Baby Journal & Memory Box - Flipthrough
มุมมอง 187ปีที่แล้ว
I made this Memory Box and the matching Keepsake Journal for a friend as a Babyshower gift. There was enough space in the box for the Journal and some baby clothes, which made it a treasure box full of discoveries. Last to be discovered was the handmade book, which was decorated with some of the cutest baby animal pictures, teddy bears, kids' songs sheet music, etc. All in neutrals with touches...

Wow! I admired the tremendous amount of detail and work that you put into this video. Incredible talent!♥️
@@florneiers5651 thank you so much, yes this was a big one indeed ❤️
❤🤩👍🥳💐
Very nice. The black accents really make the pages pop.
Thank you!
Yes, I’m seasoned (and 74) but I still like seeing how others do things and invariably learn something or see something interesting! You had me watching as soon as I saw the tiny envelopes which I just love! Thank you!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤
Yes, I would love to see how you decorate!!😊 A funny thing happened… I actually watched this video while I was taking a walk! I must have looked up to see where I was going or to admire the irises! Anyway, I had the impression that the sleeve was actually like a little box just larger than the book with the back ( opposite to the book spine part open, and we were to just slide our little book into the box and place it on the shelf with the closed part of the box (again opposite the spine) visible ( I guess either way would work!) and I thought that I would either decorate that part or put a book title on it or something. It wasn’t until I got home and looked again that I realized that my little box really was a sleeve! I probably imagined that because I recently bought a set of small children’s books that came in a little box just like I explained with all the little spines visible. So now I really would like to make a little book box! If you have a video like that, I would love to know, otherwise, I know that there has to be videos available to make boxes and I can figure it out. Do you know the Brambly Hedge series from England? They are the ones I bought and if you want to see I’m sure a quick google search would show you what I mean. Of course that’s partly why I said earlier that I wanted to make my sleeve a bit larger because I imagined that a box would have less give in it than a sleeve. Also I think that it would be fun to decorate a series of the little boxes as well as protect my little books! If you decide to make book boxes please let me know as I have to move house and just won’t have time to do that for a few months…I will try to keep watching your videos though and will have fun catching up with all of the older ones that I haven’t seen! 💕
Thank you ❤ I’ve actually made many book boxes or books in boxes and there are a couple of flip throughs on my channel but not a detailed tutorial yet. But there has been a couple of requests for it, so it’s on my to do list - coming soon. All the best for your house move ❤
Hi Veronica! I just found you, yay! I really like your video! Your little journals are so cute! I just love tiny things! And yes, your explanations are all very clear! I like your approach to cutting the pages to size, from the inside to the outside! (I have only worked from the outside to the inside!) I also like the one piece inside binding paper! Have you tried this method with a larger journal, perhaps adding Tyvek to the spine part? Also is it necessary to glue the spine to the outer cover? I usually leave that area not glued and just glue an extra wide spine paper for about an inch or more onto each of the cover pieces and then put the paper onto the cover pieces over that. Just wondering if it causes any buckling or something that I haven’t considered on a larger book. Obviously, the book would have to be laying open when you glued it to the covers or else it wouldn’t open ( I think I have that right!) I also noticed that you sewed the signatures onto the spine from back to front which I do too but most people do it the opposite way and then the sewed in ones get in your way. You’ve clearly thought things through really well!! I like the sleeve a lot but I was thinking that I may decorate the book some too, and then maybe make the sleeve a bit bigger to accommodate that. Thank you again! P.S. You have the perfect clear yet soothing voice for a video!! Do you do commercials or voice overs too? Nice to meet you! Sorry that I talk so much!! 😊😊😊
Yay! So glad you found me, and that you liked the video. Appreciate your support. There are many ways to bind a journal, and you can absolutely do it your own way. I'm sure it will work perfectly fine any other way like you mentioned, by not glueing the spine and using tyvek, etc. And yes I have tried it on a larger journal and it works, it's just more area to cover with glue. And I've also done the extra large spine thingy that you've mentioned. I just thought this would be easier for beginners. And the reason I start sewing in signatures from the back, is just because if something goes wrong with the first attempt, it will be further back in the book and less noticeable 😂 and as I get into the groove working my way forward, the first one is always perfect. You can do whichever way works for you. Absolutely you can decorate more and make the sleeve/box bigger. I've done a mini album in this way before. I do not do commercials or other voice overs, but thank you for the lovely compliment. 🥰 I hope I've answered all of your questions, and I'm happy to have you here and love chatting with you. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can also connect with me on Instagram if you wish, where I will be able to answer any questions much quicker.
😍 so love your little books. Great job 🎉 I love making little books. They look great all lined up, fantastic idea for the band around the book. Thanks greatly for sharing your fun ideas. Take care. 💖's from the land down under 🙃🐨

Thank you so much for your awesome instructions and inspiration, I made my own on a live here th-cam.com/users/liveCpgzP4MNmUI, totally gave you credit :)
Thank you so much, glad to hear! That is amazing and much appreciated. I have not yet had the chance to watch your take on it, but I am very excited to get to it asap. 💗
Hi! I just found your video. Enjoyed your tutorial and am very interested in making this. Is there a way I could get your detailed measurements?
Hi, and thank you. There is a downloadable file in the description box, for both Part 1 and Part 2 tutorials, containing detailed instructions and measurements. Let me know if you have trouble with the download.
@@TimelessTreasuresByV it is not available anymore. I enjoyed the Part 2 video also. You explained really well. I think I can just follow your video tutorial. Thank you so much.
It's absolutely stunning. Do you iron your paper till it's smooth after dying it?
Thank you, so glad you like it. No, I do not normally iron my papers. I lay them flat to dry and then stack them under some heavy books for a day or 2. I only iron the ones I wrinkle up during dyeing to get the marble effect.
These were beautiful. I hope one day you'd consider a tutorial for these. TFS
Thank you so much. It's on my requests list and I will hopefully bring you the tutorial sometime soon. I am just currently recovering from surgery, so there is a bit of a backlog.
The journal was amazing. I like all the different nuances you incorporated to each page.
Thank you for the lovely feedback, I am glad you like it.
New subbie and a very new crafter 👋 you have given me some ideas i hadn't thought of to do with the smaller pieces of scraps TFS And bg music was fine, i could hear you perfectly
Thank you and welcome. Glad I could give you some new ideas and inspiration. I absolutely love my scraps and enjoy turning them into something beautiful and useful.
Just found your channel. Like your ideas. Don't like the music.
I am so glad you found me and like my ideas. Sorry to hear you don't like the music.
Lovely ideas, i understood and heard you fine. The gentle music with your calm voice is very soothing. Subbing now.😊
Thank you for your support and feedback. Welcome to my channel, I hope to bring you many more inspiring ideas.
I love your ideas. The music in the background makes it hard to hear you.
Thank you for your support and feedback. Glad to hear you like my ideas, apologies if the music had a negative effect. There seems to be varying comments on that and I'll look into it.
Very beautiful❤
Thank you! 😊
Fantastic! I could understand you just fine, music didn't bother me at all, and I LOVE all of your ideas!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much!
This was wonderful! Thank you for some new ideas.
Thanks, and you're welcome. Hope to bring you many more inspiring ideas soon.
Audio was fine here. Fun! Thank you for the ideas❤
Awesome! Thank you!
So precious🙏🏼
❤i have watched this several times. I enjoyed it very much. Even though i have made all these things, your process is much different, and i enjoyed learning new ways. Thank you for sharing!😊 I also appreciated the time stamping. I have saved this to my favorites to jog my memory when I'm stuck ❤
Thank you for the lovely feedback and support. Glad to hear I could help.
That looks like my space before I clean up!❤
This is a remarkable idea! It will really save space in my small craft room. I have stacks of plastic organizers! 😂
Glad you like it. It has truly been a game changer for me in terms of saving space and saving time finding the right piece quickly.
Wow, I love it! I started the winter of my life (I count every seasom 20 years) . I hope it will be a long winter . Are you goiing to make a tutorial how to make these booklets and box? They are soooo beautiful!
Oh wow, I love that idea. I will add a tutorial for this to my requests list and do that for you.
@@TimelessTreasuresByV looking forward !
I, too, look forward to the tutorial. I am on the verge of turning 70, and it has been on my heart to try and record, and yes, celebrate all the seasons of my life. This is inspiring to me as a way to begin that endeavor. Thank you.
wow nice !
Thank you, I really love making these.
The audio is terrible, I cannot understand a word you were saying even with the volume at 100% But ads are so loud I have to turn the volume down quickly. If you plan on doing videos get a better sound system. I have a new $1200 laptop so it is not on my end
I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience.
Madam or Sir, if you woke up traumatized because your husband left with another woman younger than you, do not come to vent your anger here, because I listen to the instructions perfectly, I don't give a damn about anything else, if you bought a $1,200 laptop The question is, do you have money for food?
@@TimelessTreasuresByVYou don't have to apologize to these bitter people, because I hear your explanation very clearly, someone always comes along who is not happy and wants to make others feel uncomfortable.
The sound is perfect on my iPad.
Sound is perfect for me 😊
Cute
Thanks
GREAT VIDEO!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you
Oh, I adore the little closed envelopes - so cute - loads of great ideas, thank you for sharing
Thank you, yes I love those little envelopes too.
The music is annoying !
I am sorry to hear that.
Спасибо за прекрасную идею!!!
Всегда пожалуйста, спасибо за просмотр (I hope that translated correctly - You are welcome and thank you for watching)
Can You please give me the link to the punches You use on this video please🙏
Hi, it's actually a mix of secondhand punches I found on FB Marketplace, and some new from a local small craft shop. But I'm pretty sure they are available on Amazon too. Just search for 'decorative paper punch'. I hope that helps.
@@TimelessTreasuresByV thanku so much !!

You are so welcome, and thank you for the support. Exciting times - your first junk journal. I hope to bring you many more inspirational ideas.

Thank you and welcome.
❤ I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this video. You’ve filmed every bit so well that you can easily watch with or without sound. I found it very relaxing, enjoyable and informative as a paper crafter. Thank you so much for the time that you put into this video. Lots of great ideas.
Thank you for the beautiful comment. Making videos is actually really hard for me and takes a lot of time, and it is a craft in itself. So reading this truly warms my heart and I really appreciate it. Thank you for your kindness and support.
Such beautiful items you make, love it all, the mini journals, and the closure. Can you please tell me where you learned to make the jute flower. Or make a video to show us. Thank you.
Thank you for the lovely comment. I can honestly not remember where I saw it. But I will make a short tutorial for you for sure.
Thank you so much. Music is absolutely not necessary. Distracting.
Thank you. I do appreciate your honest feedback and input.
Suffering from migraines makes the contrast between your lovely voice and music difficult because they are at different levels. Perhaps if it was the same decibel level the change/ transition wouldn't be so shocking. Beautiful content. Thank you for sharing your talent and time with us. 😊🎉❤
@@ru4repeattoo Thank you for your feedback and support. I'm sorry to hear you suffer from migraines and that the music had a negative impact.
Yes I found the music too loud too. Maybe lower volume and only when you speed up the video.
