I totally agree! But, you have to take some calculated risks sometimes...or wait until your awesome Wife buys you a bandsaw.

@@CharlieMikeWoodworks I had a band saw, but still preferred to resaw. At least make yourself a jig, to save your fingers. I had a bad accident on a panel saw, back in 2000, I had just got back off holiday and spent a lot of time in the water. My hands were soft, every time I picked up a piece of wood, I ended up with a splinter. So stupidly decided to wear gloves. Saw blade caught the gloves and pulled my fingers into the saw blade. 50+ stitches, temporary pins through the tips of two fingers, skin and bone grafts. Eight weeks off work, six weeks of physiotherapy. I was lucky to keep them. Don't risk it, take my advice mate. You only have to be unlucky once!

Yeah, I had thought about that as well, but decided to use it. I may replace it sometime in the next year...I wasn't happy with the face of it. But overall, I'm happy so far with it. Thank you for tuning in!

I kind of have plans. I haven't gotten a good plan sketchup that I'm comfortable with yet, so all my plans are literally written on a piece or several pieces of paper. I'm working on getting something like Sketchup though. As soon as I do, I'll make one and put it out there, so keep checking back!

Thank you for replying sir. Can’t apologize for how quickly you respond. I appreciate the response at all. Question. Have you thought of doing something for the stars as far as stain resistance? Example would be to put the pattern down and spread wood glue and let that dry, we’ve all been there with one project or another when finishing. Or perhaps a light coat of polyurethane again through the stencil then apply blue stain after it’s dried?

And did work with metal but that was in a shop years ago. Don’t do that anymore

I kind of agree about the top, or the shelf. I didn't have it on the first one that I threw together awhile back. Thought I'd try something different on this one. The back piece part is an interesting idea, and I might explore that angle. Thank you so much for your comments and ideas. I appreciate that.

I actually like the top piece. When I wander into the bathroom with my cell phone, I could just set it on that top shelf. Great build by the way.

@@gwestep thank you! I admit the top shelf does hold my cell phone well. However, I've noticed that if I'm missing it, that's where I find it. So it's pulling double duty for me!

Yes, small pieces can become projectiles, you're absolutely correct. It is not as safe, but doable. Plus, my table insert isn't the best, which also plays in it. PLUS, if you notice I do stand to the side instead of behind. I'll mention that in the future, and thank you for reminding me to do that for others. You rock and thank you again! Charlie Mike!!

@@CharlieMikeWoodworks The unsafe technique isn't about cutting small pieces of material. It's about pushing through on your off-cut instead of the material which is up against the fence. You leave that section trapped in between the fence and a spinning blade.

@@gabrielgarcia5686 correct. It was early when I sent my reply, but, what you said is what I was trying to answer to about the projectiles. I agree it's not as safe as with material against the fence, and in hindsight I should have mentioned that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

And that was after it'd warmed up a little. It was 15° to start. THAT is one of the reasons I've never lived more north...my body just doesn't do well.
