Cass Daley
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 พ.ย. 2012
This channel is dedicated to the unforgettable and talented comedienne/actress/singer, Cass Daley.
Cass Daley was like a bigger version of Betty Hutton, Martha Raye and Judy Canova put together, and she was perhaps the most talented vocalist of the many comediennes of the '40s and '50s. She gained fame and glory throughout her countless of radio appearances and she ventured into movies in 1942 with "The Fleet's In", which won her a seven-year contract with Paramount Studios. Daley was cast as a man-chasing loudmouth, who flaunted her teeth and contorted her body into disturbing shapes and sizes. She was voted the #1 comedienne on radio in 1946, beating out Betty Hutton, Martha Raye, and Judy Canova, for the number one spot. She was successful in every area of showbiz, and she was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; Radio, and one for Television.

Oh boy! Spike Jones and Eddie Bracken in one movie! 😁😁😁😁😁
I lost count of all the song parodies in this number--it's as brilliant as she is!
She was hilarious. My great-uncle dated her in the 1930's.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful movie.
She could really belt it out!
With no disrespect meant toward either Bob Hope or Bing Crosby, it's interesting to hear (and see) Dorothy Lamour duetting with someone other than either of her "Road" buddies. 😉
One of the silliest, stupidest, corniest motion pictures I've seen in a long time...and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
1:27:16. End.
10:33 I had to listen to this one twice to figure it out. 😂
I think that’s José Oliveira (voice of José Carioca from The Three Caballeros) on the right playing the ukulele.
Very horse-like face... and pretty terrific!
Just found out about this song from Robert Emmet's Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show on KFCC....
Researching old bugs bunny characters and here I am (little red riding hood). ❤😊
I love how naive the Dad is. He didn't understand the title of his daughter's show "Strip Strip Hooray" and he didn't get the joke around 15:05. This is a silly and fun movie for when you don't want to watch anything heavy or dramatic.
Aiways liked Dorothy Lamour contralto voice and Dick Powells tenor. Thanks for the presentation.
I love Eddie Bracken. So nice to see him in "Home Alone 2" after so many years. Loved him in "Miracle of Morgan's Creek" and "Hail the Conquering Hero"!
Good God, the only time I wish I was born back then. I'd knock the bottom outta that woman. "thump, thump, thump.
Well THAT was unexpected! Fun, definitely, but unexpected.
A real hidden gem. The dance number by Johnny Coy was one of the best I've .ever seen! Such a lot of comic talent packed into that film. Why isn't it better known?
70 years ago on this day (3/16/24) Cass Daley appeared on the Bob Hope Show in 1954. Whether you know her from Dale Carnegie's book, her musical appearances, or from memory, Cass remains a wonderful performer. Hope this song inspires.
I have repeatedly read about her in D. Carnegie's book found her on the, internet,I will say that she is an interesting person, but I liked the very essence of the book to remain muself, and of course you always have to remain a person always.
I know this song because caution Tom and Jerry
Do yourself a favor. Just SKIP this one! This is a ”Three Wastes” movie - it’s a waste of time, talent, and celluloid. Even after you watch it, you can’t think of any evidence that the movie even exists. (In his review, Bosley Crowther called it “a slap-dash affair, knocked together by a gang of joke-book carpenters and a whole slew of jingling tunesmiths…In times less abnormal than the present, this movie probably wouldn't even have been made.”) With just a couple of exceptions, the songs in the movie are completely unrelated to the plot. It’s like Paramount had a bunch of random songs from various songwriters lying around the studio music department, and they created this movie just so they could throw the songs into it. In an era where all you had to do to get an Oscar nomination for Best Song was to insert a song into a movie, this movie couldn’t even manage THAT MUCH!
I liked it, great World War II escapist entertainment!
Sooooo much fun!!! Enjoyed every silly moment 😂❤
I was reading this week, "how to stop worrying and start living",and I came to know about Mrs Daley (pg. 152) and luckily I found her on TH-cam, amazing.Everything about her in the book is true.
Eu também estou lendo esse livro e achei incrível a história dela.

Same, I’m here from that book ! Amazing…
@@brunosco😅😅 Amazing, feeling a light connection, this is very rare and the best part is you found my comment too after searching for Mrs Daley✌️
Virginia Welles was not a singer. Her vocals in all 3 of her singing roles on the screen were dubbed.
I have always liked Eddie Bracken’s films, including “The Fleet’s In,” “Summer Stock,” and “We’re Not Married.” “Ladies’ Man” was a first for me, and it was an enjoyable movie. I liked the storyline, the great cast and some of the most fantastic musical numbers. To me, the highlight was the energetic tap dance of Johnny Coy. It took me by surprise when Spike Jones and his City Slickers Band performed the hilarious “Tea for Two” number because we had our own version of it as part of my high school play, so it was a nice reminiscence. Thank you for posting!!! 😃
Thank you! Do you know who wrote the song?
check out "CRAZY HOUSE" Universal 1944 starring Olsen & Johnson - Cass Daley. Her Best!

Pure fun! I Love Spike Jones. Eddie Bracken was perfect. Thanks for preserving these smiles and giggles!
1:21:08 Is My Favorite Part!
In the Bugs Bunny cartoon, “Little Red Riding Hare”, Bea Benaderet (The granny who owns Tweety Bird, the neighbor on Burns & Allen, Betty Rubble on the Flintstones, Kate on Petticoat Junction) parodies a teenaged character that Cass Daley played on radio.
Judy canova her country cuz
37:30 This cowgirl with the 'teeth', I don't recall seeing her in anything previously. [New to me]
A Musical 'Western' ?? 😱
Well, its much better than gratuitous sex & violence. (R, X rated, Porn marketed as general entertainment).
If only we had talent like this now.
🔵VIRGINIA WELLES WAS A CUTIE.💕🔴
🔵IN 1963 WHEN I JOINED THE COLUMBIA RECORD CLUB THE FIRST ALBUM I RECEIVED WAS THE SPIKE JONES & HIS CITY SLICKERS ALBUM.🔴
I just found this song, funnily enough, I was that “someone there” in a recent instance with my life. I was 17 at that time, I’m 18 now, I was attending a model United Nations Conference at Syracuse University, I had taken a young lady out to lunch on Marshal street. We were walking up the hill towards the Language Hall when the unmistakeable sound of an air raid siren pierced the air. With a panicked look in her eyes, she asked me what it was, I told her, “Sweetheart there’s either a fire company within a mile or we’d best get to shelter, that siren means air raid!” Well, long story short we ducked under a nearby park bench together for about 5 minutes waiting for the sound of an aircraft or some kind of official to come along. Then I realized it was a monthly test by campus public safety of the Syracuse University Aid Raid Sirens. 😂
squished
Best part of this movie is the beginning. The con man and poker. 😂
Promoting losers as men.
Крутая❤так кайфует сама от своего выступления 😮😮😮
*Gertie Schmertz irons shirts 'till her fingers hurts* That was the catchphrase back in the day.
Cass was funny. There seemed to be similarities in these radio comedienne/singer, Cass, here reminds me of Martha Raye, her shoulder shrugs and her eyes.
What a great high energy (and pretty much unknown) musical! I checked a number of musical film reference books, and there's not a mention of this little film. But the cast is great, especially when Cass Daley, the City Slickers, and Johnny Coy let loose. Yes, and that's Andy Williams in the quartet. Speaking of Coy, there doesn't seem to be much biographical information on him. He co-starred in a number of films in the 1940s and also worked Broadway and radio, but the only reference I found for him between the 1950s and his death in 1972 was a photo from 1963 which suggested he was teaching dance.
Lucille Ball's rendition made this really famous. Cass was underrated as a star imo.
The actor playing the doctor in this movie, and his vocal mannerisms, were characterized and parodied in a lot of the early Warner Bros. cartoons. Finally cool to the see the actual actor's face that inspired the animators over at the Warner Bros. studios lot.
Cass Daley was an awesome singer! My favorite song from this movie is HE LOVED ME TIL THE ALL CLEAR CAME! Catchy, funny song. Of course, she's singing about hooking up with someone in a bomb shelter and never seeing the person again. LOL. But fast forward some 70 years later, the 1night-stand/hookup culture is insanely rampant!
By the 1940's Dick Powe'll was getting fed up being in musicals.
Can anyone blamed him. He had so much talent and it was used as boy scout singing from morning to sunset. Thank God he got his break with Murder, My Sweet.
