Sing Monty
Doreen ❤
She's NOT Jewish
Que fuera de las canciones sin los coristas!? … so Beautiful!
Im not crying your crying
So lucky to get to do a master class with this woman a few days ago! So intelligent, gracious and unbelievably talented.
People never fully hear a person out until they realize the real talent behind a person after a period of time
I've been bingeing on this song the last few days and I don't think anyone sings it as beautifully or effortlessly as Jordin. She has such controlled power too.
I love this, so so effortless! She has a gorgeous voice
So excited to see her as Angelica in Chicago!
Fat , frumpy Fuck yuck!!!!!
It's not a concert. It's a story.
AGH I LOVE THISSSS
I SEE BIANCA MARROQUIN IN THE BACKGROUND
I'M SHOOK I NEVER KNOW SHE ASSUMED THE ROLE?? AH
Powerful song from Memphis. Montego was amazing in that musical and her voice is beautiful.
The American version of Carrie Hope Fletcher!!
The singing is exceptional, but that's all it is in my opinion. Her technique is so perfect that she skims over the raw emotion of this song.
+ChelleIsRandom That's exactly what my singing teacher said!
Agreed
her voice is epic
She's fab. But no one will ever compare to Mandy Gonzalez
I agree. :)
She sings it spot on, but I still can't get the emotion of this song out of her performance.
this is just so perfect i love her i love this show omg
i seriously wasn't expecting her to be that good. But wow, did she prove me wrong. Brilliant.
im sorry, but she is AMAZING.
I'll tell you why she got the part. I guarantee it's because she was the actor that a) did her homework and b) didn't add runs that weren't time appropriate to whatever cut they asked her to sing of their music in the callback. She is most definately on par with other actors on bway. Her voice is stunning, her character development is great, shr is fun to be around, easy to work with, and she is an amazingly beautiful woman. You couldn't ask for more.
She isn't aa good as Mandy gonzalez though
Jordin was amazing! I was lucky enough to see the show when Mandy was still in it, but I think Jordin is right on her level. They're both my favorite Nina's
like who cause audra mcdonald love her but dont think she could sing this song only people that come to mind is my cousin rhonda sapp, saycon sengbloh, felicia bosswell and lilias white
I'm not saying she's a bad singer because she is amazing but I don't understand her intention at all in the song. I don't feel she performed that song well at all. She was just stating words focusing more on the sound than meaning, and for instance the lines "what will my parents say? If I go in there and say, 'I know that I'm letting you down'" is about confronting her parents so even though there should be signs of nervousness or hesitation I couldn't feel it at all.
Actually, its okay to overact a little bit. It gives the stimulation that its even more somewhat realistic. But whatever.
being right helps me sleep at night, so im all good XD
I saw her in Memphis earlier this month. I went to a Sunday matinee, and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD was she PHENOMONAL. During a matinee!!! I met her too, and she was an absolute sweetheart. Very humble and thankful. Love her to death now.
At 2:04, when she sang,"Free me"....the way her eyes fell and the way she sang "me" and put that extra rift in there..That made my spirit very happy! LOL
yup, truth and facts help me sleep in this world I call reality XD
no your wrong, obviously you are not in musical theatre or don't do well
ok thanks i thought it was but never mind
So nicely put. Bless you.
Breathtaking performance! Brava!!!
I agree that she does not sound her best on any video of recorded song. But live, her voice is incredibly powerful even as she is running around the stage dancing. The only way to hear her sing and get the fullness out of it is live
I saw her in Memphis in January and she was absolutely phenomenal, and I am VERY picky with voices. She received the part and is critically acclaimed for a REASON guys. She received a Tony nomination for her part, and won the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards. She's good. People who can't sing don't receive original roles, that usually happens with big names to get more ticket sales (i.e. Catherine Zeta Jones in A Little Night Music, even though she still won the Tony, God knows why...)
Because even sick, Catherine fabulously acted the role in ALNM. I saw her the week after she won the Tony, and while she sounded subdued and hoarse, it was a BRILLIANT performance. A month later I saw Bernadette replace her, and while Bernadette is my absolute FAVORITE Broadway diva, and she DESERVEDLY drew a 5 minute standing ovation after her rendition of “Send In The Clowns” brought me to ugly tears, her dancing, acting and comedic timing were way off the rest of the show, sadly. Catherine earned that Tony. The proof is in the comparison with the legend-in a show that the premiere Sondheim interpreter dropped the bomb on following her.... Montego was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING vocally in Memphis, but the character she played left a lot to be desired and got lost in the sauce of the musical; her acting was a bit 1 dimensional. She’ll definitely be racking up a Tony or two soon enough, though. I ain’t worried there.
As good as she was, she doesn't even come close to Mandy Gonzalez...see video on the top right and you'll see what I'm talking about.
she needs to record this and put it on her 3rd album
@DominiqueBarnes I don't think she would have played either Aida (Easy As Life springs to mind) or Felicia in Memphis if she couldn't belt as you're making out. ;)
@TBon3Supl3x But why does her voice have to be better or equal to that of other vocalists? You're ability to perform is what is most important. I mean, look at the praise given to the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Elaine Stritch. I'm not saying Montego is in the same level of talent acting-wise, I'm just trying to prove a point regarding vocal strength. Dench can do more in a spoken-sung line than most vocalists in full belt.
is this a christian song?
I don't think so..
No, it's a song from the musical 'In The Heights.'
@TBon3Supl3x you say her belt isn't powerful are you listening correctly! Belting and holding these high notes is pretty amazing stuff.
she was amazing in MEMPHIS!
I don't think she is very good at all. Both her head voice and belt leave a lot to be desired....
DominiqueBarnes Broadway actors are trained to sing in a way that doesn't damage or tire out the vocal chords on appearances like this. If you seen her live like I had, you would know why she was the originator of the role
amazing! i see eliseo! he is awesome! jordan did amazing!
